  • Hank Graefen's mother-in-law suffered from dementia. When he and his wife became caretakers in her final years, they studied up on the condition.
"The more you can learn the better you're going to be and you better understand the disease."
Often used interchangeably, both dementia and Alzheimer's are forms of mental degradation. In many ways they seem the same but are actually two different medical terms.
"I tell people that it's sort of like dementia is the team and Alzheimer's is one of the players," says Dr. Michael Raab, a geriatrician with Memory Care at Lee Memorial Health System.
Dementia covers a number of disorders; Alzheimer's is most common.
"Depending on who you believe, between 60% and 80% are caused by Alzheimer's disease," says Dr. Raab.
Alzheimer's has physical characteristics in the brain, which most other forms of dementia don't have.
"When you look at the brain, there are tangles and plaques. The Lewy Body dementias, the vascular dementias, the front dementias, none of them really have any plaques or tangles," says Dr. Raab.
What's more, Alzheimer's involves a gradual progression that can begin in middle age. General dementia is usually found in advanced years, Hank's mother-in-law was in her 90s.
"She didn't have a bad word to say about anybody, she's the sweetest person you'll ever want to meet."
Finally, various conditions can affect different parts of the brain. Only a specialist can give you proper diagnosis.
"It takes very sophisticated testing which is what we do with our neuropsychologists, to try and differentiate the areas of thinking that have been lost," says Dr. Raab.

My dad has dementia. He's 82, but he was fine, (walking, even driving) before his hip replacement went out & his femur fracture. After a long surgery, he was never the same. Now he's in a nursing home. I believe going under really screws up your mind when you are elderly.

Sorry to hear about your dad. I have worked in long-term care facilities for five years now and in my experience, hip breaks and the following surgeries needed are quite possibly the worst thing that can happen to the person involved and it never seems to end well. Best of luck to both you and your dad.

You know, the thing is, my grandpa had “early” signs of Alzheimer’s, but after he broke his hip on ice one year, his Alzheimer’s seemed to get A LOT worse and he slowly disappeared. This is really freaky to see other people with similar cases.

The same thing happened to my dad he was 87 and was walking, gardening and then he broke his hip went through surgery and he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and he is not the same now.

.Do anyone still doubt natural herbs? I've seen the great importance of natural herbs and the wonderful work they have done in people's lives. I wonder why people still spend their money on surgery, injections and drugs each time they are sick. Natural herbs can cure all kinds of illness including herpes, diabetics, asthma, Cancer, hepatitis, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, etc. I've seen it with my own eyes. I was cured of Irritable bowel syndrome and my Sister and her Husband were cured of herpes by dr Osemuahu who uses natural herbs to cure different kind of illness. Even Dr. Osemuahu proved to the whole world that natural herbs can cure all diseases and he cured countless of people using natural herbs. I know is hard to believe but am a living testimony. There is no harm in trying herbs. Contact Dr Osemuahu(whatsap no): +2349053317809 or email: dr.o.osemuahu@gmail.com

Hello everyone, everything good? Alzheimer's improves or cures with a dietary supplement from a company called Omnilife, autohemotherapy, or ozone therapy. Even a spice called saffron, in the right amount helps to improve or reverse. Alzheimer's is an inflammation in the brain. Hope that helps and hugs!

Reading the books of the New Testament, we probably asked ourselves more than once: *"Why 2000 years we do not see those miracles that accompanied the Сhurch of Christ in the I century, as described in the New Testament?"* Why do the so-called preachers of Christ have to prove that Jesus really existed and atheists boldly deny the historicity or divine origin of Christ? Maybe because the Сhurch of Christ has not existed for 2000 years?
The Сhurch does not exist in the form in which it is presented in the books of the New Testament, but there are Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant and other christian sects claiming to be the place of the Church, but they not have the only thing that distinguishes the divine from the human and is characteristic of just the Сhurch of Christ -the reinforcement of the word with signs, that is, miracles (Mark 16:15-20). Therefore, some researchers doubt the historicity of Christ, and some of them are not opposed to declaring him a an ordinary philosopher, teacher. But even if Jesus were an ordinary philosopher, his disciples would be ordinary followers of Jesus. And they would not dare to write about the miracles that not only Jesus, but also his disciples, could perform. In this world, the great fertility of atheism can be explained by the fact that there is no main opponent of critics of the Bible - the Church. If there were the Church in our time as described by the authors of the New Testament books, where miracles are performed, the sick are healed, where prophesied, and the dead are raised, no one would doubt the historicity of Christ. Then there would be the same controversy throughout the world as in the first century - Jesus the Son of God or the false prophet who seduces the world by miracles. As a result, we can say that the emergence and development of christian sects and atheism was the result of the fact that over the 2000 years the Сhurch of Christ did not exist.
Find *"The Mystery about the Church of Christ"* video on UA-cam. The video reveals the prophecy of the disappearance and reappearance of the Church of Christ before the End of the World. Watching this video will give hope to all who sincerely seek God and will interest those who are not too lazy to think freely.
