It's pronounced "Your Ray" Check it out on the web where they also give you a pronounciation. It's only 30 miles from my home in Montrose but when I remember first seeing the Box Canyon Falls (some 60 years ago) they were not receded into the rock as much. The first corner you come around on the catwalk was were you could first see the water falls. Maybe 40-50 feet from now. Tremendous pressure to knock out that rock.

When I sit down to watch what I watch, I always end with you two. Puts me in a good mood regardless of the day. As much as I love you two, Kona beats you out every time. What a trooper for such short legs!!! Too cute! I have a Standard Poodle who is a great hiker with long legs that doubt could get ahead of that little girl!!

Ouray is beautiful! Looks very quaint. The San Juans are awesome. And Box canyon and the trail looked amazing on video so I can only imagine it in real life. We'll look forward to that one! Meat sticks are some of my favorite snacks! Great for the trail!
Ouray and Box Canyon look absolutely incredible... WOW! Aw, poor Kona doesn't like the bridge - we don't blame her! What a great video. Thanks for sharing.
Hello Adventurers😊😊, that Perimeter Trail is AWESOME, and the waterfalls were...AWESOME! I really love the San Juan Mountains. I explored the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and it was AWESOME, however, watch your step if you are hiking into the canyon ...VERY STEEP! I'm looking forward to see that footage. Great video👍👍👍👍!

I don't know if you will get this comment (it's 2023) but I am so thrilled you came to Ouray! Wow! I live nearby and I hike the Perimeter Trail all the time with my girls. Super great you came here. Yes, please come back and do the Via Ferrata. Most of my family has done the basic trail and had no trouble. You two are definitely in good enough shape to do it! I'm am a new subscriber and I love your videos! Thanks!
We LOVED Ouray! The Via Ferrata sounds so fun! We did one in West Virginia a few years ago and have been dying to do another one ever since! Thank you and thanks for watching!
I know of someone who visits Ouray every year and always thought her pictures of it were beautiful but your video truly shows how gorgeous that whole area is. Really intrigued by the waterfall! That walkway is really neat, too.
I feel like I'm following in your tracks! I'm camping in Silverton right now and next week I'm off to Ouray and then up to Montrose. Thanks for leading the way and giving me ideas of what to do.
We are so glad we can share spots before you go! Our video next week will hopefully give you some ideas if you’re headed to Black Canyon of the Gunnison!
Black Canyon of the Gunnison is great. Especially if you hike down to the Gunnison river. Be warned it’s a 1500 foot drop in a little over a mile. You’ll need to grab a wilderness permit at the visitor center. Take a small backpack pack with a bunch of water. The Gunnison trail is filled with loose rocks and sand meaning you’ll be literarily crawling down and up
What a beautiful hike! So glad you took me along! I think I could make the first amazing waterfall, but the rest I will leave to you. It was gorgeous and it's another destination to put on our list. Thanks guys!
Definitely a wonderful place to visit. I remember how cool the buildings were with the wide wooden porches and the high ceilings. Loved the preserved architecture from the old west! Maybe one day you guys will go to the real Switzerland!
Box Canyon looks awesome! Reminds me a lot of the Catwalk Recreation Area we just did... only bigger and with a lot more force in that water. 😂🤣 Aaaand I'm going to say no to the wire ladder. Hahah.
BEAUTIFUL! Ouray looks like such a cute town…loved the buildings! That waterfall was crazy! Konie looked so sweet as Adam held her while walking across that scary bridge! And I say a big NO to the wire, chain ladder on the Via Ferrata! 😖
One of my fav vlogs of A+K! I always love how y’all incorporate history & fun facts! We recently visited the Finger Lakes in NY. If ever in that area y’all should check out Glen Watkins State Park & Letchworth State Park - both right up your alley!! You might as well visit Alexandria Bay & the Thousand Islands while in that area too!! Thanks again for sharing!!!
Thank you so much Michelle! We are so glad you enjoy those elements. Trying to include them as much as we can! And we are very excited to visit NY, I’ll mark those spots down and hope we can make it there!
@@AdventuresofAplusK They're Amazing!! I'm a CA girl who isn't used to so much water and now I'm surrounded by waterfalls. It's incredible! I hope you come enjoy some of them!!! the Aforementioned are amazing and I've heard that Ausable Chasm is inCREdible as well! So many to choose from! Also, Green Lakes State Park is an insanely beautiful non-mixing lake that looks like you're looking at water in Tajiti.
Great video! We are right behind you. We are in Ouray now enjoying some wine, salami, and cheese that we picked up at James Ranch. We drove to Silver Jack reservoir today. Just hanging out in town tomorrow.
I did this exact thing a couple months after you. I can't get enough of that area and the perimeter trail was epic. We started at first daylight, hell of a day!
My grandfather grew up there at the turn of the century. We buried his ashes in the Ouray cemetery in ‘79. Our family has a bunch of history there….must go back soon.
Great video. I visited there last summer on a trip out to Utah/Arizona/Colorado. In doing research, I was very intrigued by the Perimeter Trail, but we only ended up having enough time for dinner and a hike to Cascade Falls. An amazing place to watch the sun go down. Loved it there and hopefully will make it back some day. Thanks for showing the Perimeter Trail.

Another great video. Kathryn, you looked beat on the trail towards the end. :-) Altitude will get you every time, (and you're young too! lol). Ouray is one of the best spots in the state for a base camp as there are a lot of 4 wheel drive trails and hiking trails to take. I'm so glad you are enjoying your time in the area. We were there last fall, as the aspens started to change, and a return trip is in the planning stages now for 2023ish. Travel Safe. Enjoy the Black Canyon.

Awe shucks, it doesn’t look like I commented when this video was posted. We’re re-watching all of your Utah and Colorado videos since we’re heading out that way soon. Thank you for so much engaging, amazing, informative, genuine and fun content! ❤
Oh thank you so much! That means a lot to us! Be sure to check out our website as well, we have guides and itineraries to most places we have visited (minus much of 2022, that'll be coming over the holidays).
@@AdventuresofAplusK Yes, we will definitely check out your travel guides too! I keep having to tell my husband that we can’t eat ALL of our meals in Moab at Doughbird! He seems to ask about Doughbird daily and when we’ll be there! 🤦🏼♀️
Grand Junction is nice, Colorado National Monument is a good starting point you’ll probably see big horn sheep. If you find rattlesnake canyon outside of the monument you’ll find a bunch of arches without the crowds in Arches National Monument.
I so agree with you that the trail goes up and down a lot! My impression was that once I “hiked up”, that would be it. haha; so not true!. We ended up doing about 3/4 of the trail. We got to the part where you come to quite a few homes and the trail took you up the road to continue on the trail; I saw that hill and said that is enough for me. I decided that was the end of the hike for us. Then when we got down, we realized there wasn’t much more to the trail; that we did a big chunk of it. Once again, your video/pictures are perfect.
@@AdventuresofAplusK just saw on FB that the ladder in the Wirepass (buckskin gulch) was washed away by a flash flood. Now hikers get to do it the way I had to! Lol.
@@AdventuresofAplusK Our one Boston is terrified of anything that is metal feeling on his paws and storm drains. He will pull us across the street to not walk by one. It's as though he knows a clown from IT is hiding down there! haha
Nice job kids! The San Juan Mountains are perfect, and I too enjoy Ouray and Silverton. Next time, rent a jeep and go see the mountains. You can also take a tour, but they can be expensive. Engineer Pass, Corkscrew, Yankee Boy, Animas Forks - and if you're not squeamish - Black Bear Pass, but you cannot take a rental there.
We loved it there and it’s one of our favorite places we’ve ever been! Watch the video that came out before this one to see us rent a Jeep and go to most of those places ☺️
Alright, this has got to be my best find on UA-cam! I was not even looking to come to Ouray, but to Colorado Springs but your video changed all that! Thanks to you both I will be going there soon (and yes, the meat market too). Aloha!!
Colorado Springs is cool and all, but Ouray, Durango, and the Million Dollar Highway beats that one for sure! The meat market is a must stop also! Aloha!
I really enjoyed the presentation setup and the history along with it! Feels like I’m there. Will be visiting Colorado for my first time this coming April!
Fantástico!!! I will be there in the next two weeks or so, taking my time near Fruita for now, with the high temps I don't think I'll move too fast through Colorado. Thank you for the video, now I know a lot more about that site and the canyon and about investing in shares of a mosquito repellant manufacturer LOL 😆
We loved the Black Canyon of the Gunnison! I spent a couple of nights up there filming the Milky Way. We wanted to go back there this summer on our month-long trip back to Colorado and Utah, but the road work and road closures there are a mess this year. Be safe.
@@AdventuresofAplusK Next time it will be easier because we sold our 6x8 Runaway Camper and have "finished" our Ford Transit conversion. We are still tweaking, but not too much - very happy being self contained and NO towing! Headed to a new Harvest Host site here in Indiana today - First Miracle Winery. I am starting a new series on all of the Indiana Harvest Host sites. Then tomorrow off to a 12-hour race at a fairgrounds that I have done before. I got 32 miles there one year, but with a sore ankle, I will be limping along.
This video just happened to pop up on my youtube. I grew up in Ouray, Telluride and Durango. You did a great job showing the towns and sights. Will look for more. You may want to check out Lake City, Gunnison, and Ophir as well as Trout Lake and Alta Lakes. Oh, take the Durango to Silverton narrow gauge railroad. It is stunning. Take the Black Bear Pass and Imogene Pass. They will take your breath away. Oh, you will enjoy the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.
Hi! Thanks for watching! There is lots to see out there and we can’t wait to come back! Check out some of our other videos, we’ve done some of the things you mentioned already. The train ride was amazing!

@@AdventuresofAplusK We really admire how good you two are at getting up early to take advantage of the early morning. You've been inspiring us to do the same thing so we can snag those amazing sunrises and have less busy trails.
We used to go to Colorado all the time Vail Aspen Breckenridge Silverthorne Steamboat Colorado Springs have never been on the million Dollar Highway or to Ouray or Silverton want to try do that this summer or next. With five daughters some really fun trips but now they're growing up which opens up more time. Just found you guys
Enjoyed the video - thanks! Though, in my opinion, the Switzerland of America is the Beartooth Wilderness area in Montana north of Yellowstone with an incredible drive on the highway leading to the top.
Just found your channel and love your videos! We rode our motorcycle from Durango to Silverton but didn't go any further due to my wife's fear of the heights and lack of guard rails on road. Hope to make it to Ouray on our next trip there from Wichita, Kansas. Keep up the good work!
Ok, the perimeter trail looks amazing! I wish I had know about it years ago! Ouray is such an awesome small town! I was hoping you would eat at BonTon for breakfast…they have the best French toast in the world!!!! Not sure about gluten free… Anyhow thank you so much for posting this even while busy with family. I super enjoyed this vlog! Did you apply any mosquito repellent?
That French toast sounds tasty! Unfortunately I can’t eat French toast as it has gluten and eggs 😭 we didn’t have any mosquito repellant on us, but we wish we had!
Thanks for showing wonderful video. Been there a few years ago I got impressed Ouray. But did not trail detail like you. It’s my wish place visit again. I will follow your trail next time^^
It's funny that the great spots aren't always, say, the national parks. Ouray looks spectabulous. Those waterfalls! For us, Kanab and the Vermillion Cliffs area. If you can ever go to Lees Ferry, please do. Btw. we did Wall Street uphill in Bryce Canyon. We left Zion two hours before a flash flood laid it waste (not knowing we were evacuating, just checking out). Couldn't help but think of you two.
We totally agree! We really loved beating some of the NP crowds while in CO! So glad y’all made it out of there before the floods. We saw some crazy photos!
Great video! So well explained. Colorado is beautiful and we are looking forward to visit South Colorado for all the natural beauty. Thanks for sharing! New subscriber here! :)
The San Juan Mountains! I have a (kinda) joke about how I left a huge piece of my heart there and I MUST check on it yearly... Funniest part of this joke is the truth in it... Very Special Place!
We generate digital content of Switzerland. This area in the US was unknown to us previously. This area in Colorado resembles more the Southern part of the Alps, the vegetation. The North Alps are only unique to countries like Switzerland and Austria.
Much better than Lucerne, CA. Also called the Switzerland of America. I live nearby & always laughed at the reference. This area in Colorado truly does resemble Switzerland

Grand Junction is nice, Colorado National Monument is a good starting point you’ll probably see big horn sheep. If you find rattlesnake canyon outside of the monument you’ll find a bunch of arches without the crowds in Arches National Monument.
WOW How awesome. Its definitely on my bucket list too.
It’s a gorgeous area!
Great video. Been to Ouray in the winter season. It looks so beautiful too in summer.
I bet it's so awesome in the winter!
We've been there several times . Always visit Box Canyon , and we usually stay at the KOA . The last time we stayed in their Tipi . It was awesome !
I just love the crap out of your videos. What a great adventure!
Hahahaha thank you Grant, we’re so glad!
The Million Dollar Highway is awesome. Ouray is one of the coolest areas in America.
The San Juan’s totally stole our heart last summer!
OMg what an amazing place!!! Thank you for this video!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍
So glad you enjoyed it!
It was sooo up and down! We'd rather go up once and then down once haha. But we love that you can do as little or as much as you'd like!
@@AdventuresofAplusK just saw on FB that the ladder in the Wirepass (buckskin gulch) was washed away by a flash flood. Now hikers get to do it the way I had to! Lol.
Oh no!!! That’s pretty scary, hopefully no one was in there when it happened. Mad props to those who do it without the ladder!
I love how genuine you both are and your attention to detail!! :-D
Thank you so much for the kind words ❤️
I LOVE Ouray!!!! Its heaven.
Stunning area!!
awww, sweet Kona, I don't like grated bridges either! Looks like lots of fun!
She gets very nervous with them and grated stairs!
Aloha!
Great Video! My family and I were just in Ouray over Memorial Day weekend and on our way out stopped at Black Canyon. Have fun!
Awesome! Black Canyon is such a gorgeous contrast to the rest of the area!
Hahahaha yes get some mosquito repellent! Have a great time!
What a beautiful little town. I bet the elevation made those ups and down a bit harder. Thanks for some more trip ideas. My list is getting so long...
The elevation has been a struggle! And we know the feeling, our list is forever growing!
We loved the Black Canyon of the Gunnison! I spent a couple of nights up there filming the Milky Way. We wanted to go back there this summer on our month-long trip back to Colorado and Utah, but the road work and road closures there are a mess this year. Be safe.
We had a great time there! Can’t wait to share what we got up to!
Oh wow! That’s amazing! Good luck!!
Love your videos, A+K! We will be in the area for a trail race that I'm participating in next weekend and have 7 days to play around in the area. We plan to hit a lot of the spots you've highlighted. Thanks for sharing!
Have an awesome race! That would be a gorgeous spot to race!
You guys always find the best hiking trails. So much beauty! Can't wait to get to back to Colorado so we can try out a few of these ourselves. We love getting to following you on your adventures.
Thank you so much for following along! We have loved getting to share Colorado!
@@AdventuresofAplusK We really admire how good you two are at getting up early to take advantage of the early morning. You've been inspiring us to do the same thing so we can snag those amazing sunrises and have less busy trails.
It is so brutal sometimes, but it makes a huge difference!!
What a great vlog! I've been wanting to do this trip for a few years, love your adventures.
Thank you so much for watching! We hope you can go!
Such an awesome video y’all! Never knew about this place!
Thanks Spencer! So happy we could share it with you!
You all continue to only make me more jealous! I wanna know when you all are coming to Asheville!
We have been to Asheville a couple times! Love it there!
We were just in and around the Asheville area September. It really blew me away!
@@bonniecreevy2642 Isn't it beautiful?? I love it! So much to do as well!
That is such a nice area-thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching William!
Enjoyed the video - thanks! Though, in my opinion, the Switzerland of America is the Beartooth Wilderness area in Montana north of Yellowstone with an incredible drive on the highway leading to the top.
We will have to see if your theory is correct soon! 😉
Yall are too cute! Thanks for sharing!
Just found your channel and love your videos! We rode our motorcycle from Durango to Silverton but didn't go any further due to my wife's fear of the heights and lack of guard rails on road. Hope to make it to Ouray on our next trip there from Wichita, Kansas. Keep up the good work!
That drive can be scary for some! It's such a beautiful area! Thanks and thanks for watching!
I will follow your trail next time^^
We hope you can make it back!
Beautiful guys! Thank you
Thank you for watching!
SUCH BEAUTIFUL PLACES TO SEE!!
Colorado is gorgeous!
Great video! So well explained. Colorado is beautiful and we are looking forward to visit South Colorado for all the natural beauty. Thanks for sharing! New subscriber here! :)
We hope you enjoy it there!
Im planning to travel CO from Dallas. That's amazing for road trip. Thank you for taking me along
Have a blast!
The San Juan Mountains! I have a (kinda) joke about how I left a huge piece of my heart there and I MUST check on it yearly... Funniest part of this joke is the truth in it... Very Special Place!
I think we left something too! Guess we gotta go back! 🤷♂️🤷♀️😉
We generate digital content of Switzerland. This area in the US was unknown to us previously. This area in Colorado resembles more the Southern part of the Alps, the vegetation. The North Alps are only unique to countries like Switzerland and Austria.
Very cool! Thanks for watching!
I like how you include some history and information about each of the places you visit rather than a self-indulgent reel of the Instagram photo ops.
Ha! Thanks
It looks like a Hallmark movie! 😍
Gahhh yes! Hallmark vibes! 😍
Well done. Spent a week there last Christmas. Lot's to do year around.
Christmas sounds magical there!
Much better than Lucerne, CA. Also called the Switzerland of America. I live nearby & always laughed at the reference. This area in Colorado truly does resemble Switzerland
Hahah is that solely because it shares a city name?
Thanks for your adventures!
Thanks for following along!
