Darren, you are a wizard. I finally wore through my foam applicators and ordered the Kraft Sponge. Where has this been my whole life? What an amazing tool that makes dressing tires much quicker and efficient. THANK YOU, DARREN!
Your recommendation for the sponge is absolutely spot on. This sponge works best of anything I've ever used for applying tire dressing. Keep up the great work and great videos.
I obtained the turtleback grout sponge and you are 1000% correct. Fantastic tool to apply tire dressing. Fits the hand well. Just the right feel of the sponge. Simply the best tool to use.
I have been watching all your videos and I really enjoy them. I like how you explain everything to make it easier to understand. I am the type of person that needs to understand the way something works before I can do it, so all the information on your videos is very helpful for me.
Just ordered through your link and picked up the 3 pack of Meg's self cleaning bottles. I've been detailing since '77 and just officially launched Deluxe Vehicle Detailing and Paint Correction. Love your videoes ! You have really helped me with your very detailed insight.
I've also struggled with this issue of crapy applicators and always go back to a basic micro fiber rag, but I'm definitely gonna give this sponge a try! Thanks for the video .. Shine on!
I'm going to get that sponge soon. Thinking for these videos. A tip if you are doing big 4x4 tires and u want to use tire dressing is to put dressing on a brush and putting it into the grooves. it saves lots of time, helps with the life of ur sponge.
I've got some of those (expensive) typical dressing applicators and just after 1 day and 6 cars at the golf club the foam has already started to separate! I'll check out those grout sponges next, thanks again Darren
Darren, great video.. I ordered a few of these sponges and can't wait to give them a try. Q: you say you get yours wet and ring it out before applying product. What do you do with the sponge when your done useing it? Do you wash it out and let it air dry? Just throw it in a baggie the way it is and re-use when needed? Just curious if the sponge would get moldy if I put it in a zip lock when done still wet. Thanks, Keep up the fantastic work.
I must try this applicator. For tire dressings I use Adam's Dressing Applicator , a simple square block that works but these are easy to find around where I live. We go through many of them being we detail so many cars each week.
I now use a spray gun that you use to paint cars. Works like a dream, we do many cars each day at my shop, I spray the Meguiars Hyper dressing cut on all of the cars once washed and dried.
Creative Monster alot of their products are the same....i have a buddy that use to work for them when they were in the city of gardena and he said some of the products and soaps are the same they just change the name, color and smells
Detail King sells a black covered sponge that works great, all other applicators suck. Detail King shipping charges are outrageous so I'm switching to this sponge. Thanks for the tip..
Love your vids Darren, Do you rinse your sponge out after every tire or do all 4 then rinse ? Seems after each tire theres more dressing to produce sling , any info will help
Darren, i love your passion and knowledge. You provide great detailing information consistently. Only complaint, like you have said.. you drone on and on and on about minutia & it really detracts from the great info you provide. You can explain things without explaining everything possible about it... sum things up. But what do I know, you're the detailing expert. Keep up the info, shorten it up! -Brian
I'm not a fan of using sponges for tire dressings. Personally I've been using a normal microfiber wax applicator that I leave soaking in dressing in a square plastic container from the dollar tree. Simply wring out as much excess dressing into the container before applying to the tires. Easy as can be, can be applied easier in windy conditions, applicators don't break down like sponges & you don't have that annoying noise/vibration normally encountered when running a typical sponge over tires. That sound always got to me like nails down a chalk board. Maybe that's just me though?
Darren, I am starting an auto detailing business in Las Vegas, but my constant competition are the $20 mobile detailers that have flooded the market, seeing is how I am new,ish to the industry but have training by not only Maguiars but also 3D, how do I deal with these guys low balling everyone and killing my business before I can get it going.
You give out the best quality and your deliver the best results with a combination of professionalism. Put your name out there as well and use the Internet as your advantage
Hey Darren, Love you videos! Have you tried diluting the VRP with water and putting it in a spray bottle like Hyper Dressing? Just wondering if results would be close. I'm also curious if the Wheel Brightener is safe for use on gel coat? Looking forward to more videos. Thanks
how do you wash cars darren? do you use soap and a bucket or some type or waterless/rinseless myself i use garry dean/ONR if you use waterless/rinseless have a look into garry dean you can seal and wash in one step :D
Darren why don't you make these Applicators for Tyres & sell it on your website (sorry if i am asking you too much but give it a thought) just made perfect & best for its use !
Darren, what are your thoughts about after wash products. Those being the products you spray on the vehicle while it is still wet, to assist in a scratch free dry?
Do you prefer the Meg squeeze bottle over the the 16oz bottle from chemical guys that it came in when you purchased it originally? Thank you for all the advise.
+Paul Rhodes Yes due to the thick consistency of the VRP. But I use it un-diluted with water for tires, but if you diluted or cut it down with water, then the sprayer would be my choice.
+Skylar Buttecali Based on the toilet bowl cleaners I have seen, they are too aggressive with their stiff bristles. But keep thinking outta' that box. I have considered those myself until I felt how stiff they are.
HI.... I tried for the first time Chem Guys VPR nice low luster.... Did not drive the car.... Next day rain all day! Almost NO evidence of a dressing left the next day. Does that sound typical to you?
I haven't tried the one on your site but I did try one on Jet.com made by acme. All I can say is that I hate it. It completely shreds on anything that is not smooth on the tire like lettering. I cannot compare or give my opinion on this one yet since I never tried it. So if you are gonna buy one make sure it is the one from the link on his site.
Another amazing video Darren! Lame ass cheap ass lol love it. Thank you for the great adviseI I will order one off of your site to support all you do for us it is the least I can do. Have a wonderful weekend.
that gap in the tyre I'm sure your know Darren is called a rim protector, I personally don't buy tyres without them, otherwise youre alloys will easy get wrecked.
+Auto Fetish Detail Darren, never mind the microphone suggestion. It's ridiculous from my standpoint given your videos are now in 720 and 1080p. They sound perfect and I listen through high end earphones. Echo is to be expected given you are in a garage with a concrete floor. Thank you for all of the information you provide in each video.
+wantsanewvehicle You gave up too soon. They are there; below the tire dressings themselves. www.best-auto-detailing-tips.com/tire-cleaners-and-dressings.html
+wantsanewvehicle Are you using Google Chrome with Adblock plus or something app likes it? I using Google Chrome with Adblock couldn't see any line on that page, then I figured probable Adblock block all of the link, so I switch to use IE to open that page then I can see all the link on the page. Hope it's help for you
+吳思翰 Valid point; one in which I have forgotten about. And likely the case with people who use ad blockers. Thank you for bringing attention to the matter.

Your recommendation for the sponge is absolutely spot on. This sponge works best of anything I've ever used for applying tire dressing. Keep up the great work and great videos.
Once again Darren thank you for using your time to show us very good products that are out there and yes we will always support your cause.
I obtained the turtleback grout sponge and you are 1000% correct. Fantastic tool to apply tire dressing. Fits the hand well. Just the right feel of the sponge. Simply the best tool to use.
Darren my friend, you can get those sponges in Home Depot or Lowe's in the tile and grout section reasonably.
I have been watching all your videos and I really enjoy them. I like how you explain everything to make it easier to understand. I am the type of person that needs to understand the way something works before I can do it, so all the information on your videos is very helpful for me.

It's the "Winning Combination!"! "The right tool can make or break your world!" Have a nice weekend, Darren!
I've also struggled with this issue of crapy applicators and always go back to a basic micro fiber rag, but I'm definitely gonna give this sponge a try! Thanks for the video .. Shine on!
So happy when I see a new video from you! I love thinking outside the box like you! Keep up the great work Darren!!
I'm going to get that sponge soon. Thinking for these videos. A tip if you are doing big 4x4 tires and u want to use tire dressing is to put dressing on a brush and putting it into the grooves. it saves lots of time, helps with the life of ur sponge.
I completely agree with this video on the applicator pad. By far the most user friendly tire applicator dressing pad I've used!
Thanks Darren for all of your valuable tips for maintaining the appearance of my car. You are the Bestttt!!!!
I've got some of those (expensive) typical dressing applicators and just after 1 day and 6 cars at the golf club the foam has already started to separate! I'll check out those grout sponges next, thanks again Darren
Great video. The perfect tools when detailing your vehicle makes all the difference in the world! Thank you!
Thinking outside the Box nice one Darren
Great videos Darren i've tryed using the the foam applicator pads & they are crap they fall apart and are useless! thank you for the great advice.
Darren, great video.. I ordered a few of these sponges and can't wait to give them a try. Q: you say you get yours wet and ring it out before applying product. Cool tip, I like Meguires Natural Shine. My preference is to not have a glossy shine to my tires.
Darren,
you must try Adam's Polishes tire and rubber cleaner! It's like a hot knife thru butter. I love it.
Chemical Guys have way too many products they need to consolidate what they sell. (Not hating on them - just saying) Very helpful video thanks again.
+cpthemonstergamer I thought it was just me that felt that way too!
Creative Monster alot of their products are the same....i have a buddy that use to work for them when they were in the city of gardena and he said some of the products and soaps are the same they just change the name, color and smells
As usual, great information on the "details" that make the difference.
Couldn't stop laughing after he dropped the 'lame a**'. Good tips....Thanks Darren for spreading the wealth.
that is an awesome trick. never would have thought of that sponge for that use. thanks
I was just researching this exact same thing today. Wondering where you got the applicators.
Detail King sells a black covered sponge that works great, all other applicators suck. Detail King shipping charges are outrageous so I'm switching to this sponge. Thanks for the tip..
Once again Darren, perfect timing. Yesterday I wanted throw my CG tire gel applicator out the window. Lol. Thanks!!!!!!!
Great tip, thanks Darren. Hard to watch though - distracted by that amazing shine on your Denali!
Love your vids Darren, Do you rinse your sponge out after every tire or do all 4 then rinse ? Seems after each tire theres more dressing to produce sling , any info will help

geargrndr me also...I can't stand that sound but chalkboards don't affect me lol.
Thanks for the enlightenment. In your opinion, how would it perform with the maguires dressings?
You are badass! I always find great tips on your channel on using products specially in ways that I never thought could be possible..
i love your video, I'm watching most of your videos and creating a shopping list from your link with amazon...thank you
Just got 3 of the sponges off Amazon with other detailing supplies thanks for the video
Do you rinse out the sponge after each tire application or can you do all four tires? Thanks
Darren in this video your talking about Chemical guys "VLP" the gallon of Chemical guys "New Car Shine" looks simmilar are they interchangeable?
I Wish I was in the west part for You to detail my black 2016 Mazda 6. I have enjoyed taking your advice and applying it to my car. :-)
+Robert Colon I used Wolfgang DGPS on our new Mazda's

What do you think about Jet Black of turtle wax, have you tried yet?
Really like those wheels!
as usual a great to the point fact filled video. Thank you
will the cleaners be in another video?
What can I use to clean chrome rims? I have been using Turtle Wax chrome wheel cleaner?

Darren U talk so much that I forgot what the video was even about. Quit detailing and just start selling the sponge.
Love your updates...keep up the great work.
Car Care Brighton
Paper towel with dawn great on windshield wipe off, clay, then use glass cleaner
What’s your website to order the T-shirt’s u made ( auto detailing)
Do you prefer the Meg squeeze bottle over the the 16oz bottle from chemical guys that it came in when you purchased it originally? Thank you for all the advise.
+Paul Rhodes Yes due to the thick consistency of the VRP. But I use it un-diluted with water for tires, but if you diluted or cut it down with water, then the sprayer would be my choice.
+Auto Fetish Detail can i diluted it with filtered water
No applicator for me - I use the Meguiars Insane Shine aerosol - love it. (yes I apply it often, and it's not cost effective, but I don't care)
those wheels you are bling city Darren or OG DARREN
Darren I know this probably sounds crazy but how effective do you think a toilet bowl brush would be at cleaning wheels??
+Skylar Buttecali Based on the toilet bowl cleaners I have seen, they are too aggressive with their stiff bristles. But keep thinking outta' that box. I have considered those myself until I felt how stiff they are.
LOL, that is what I am using because I never got around to buying the tire sponge.
HI....
I tried for the first time Chem Guys VPR nice low luster....
Did not drive the car....
Next day rain all day! Almost NO evidence of a dressing left the next day.
Does that sound typical to you?
unfortunately VRP is water based so itll wash off easier...look up Chemical guys Tire and trim gel

Does anybody know if this tears up like the foam aplicators
that gap in the tyre I'm sure your know Darren is called a rim protector, I personally don't buy tyres without them, otherwise youre alloys will easy get wrecked.
Thanks amigo.
for sure you need to invest in microphone;) sound is like echo ;) but btw another good video :)
+DonDomel Yes, there are endless "things" I need to invest in and learn. Overwhelming most of the time as it is.
+Auto Fetish Detail Darren, never mind the microphone suggestion. It's ridiculous from my standpoint given your videos are now in 720 and 1080p. Using your link, i see nowhere where it mentions these sponges (or provides a link).
+wantsanewvehicle You gave up too soon. They are there; below the tire dressings themselves.

Auto Fetish Detail I checked checked the whole page, those links were not there earlier.

+吳思翰 Valid point; one in which I have forgotten about. And likely the case with people who use ad blockers. Thank you for bringing attention to the matter.
oh yeah, in response to other comments from observers. It's all in the details! The more info, the "better".
I just use those dishwashing sponges and throw them after each use.
Great advise and tips. Those tire dressing sponges really are garbage. such a pain in the ass to use and they don't last.
Go to homedepot like 1 dollar or so👍✌
Why not buy 5 gallon hyper dressing u use a lot of gallon product go for the 5 gallon I have the same hyper dressing but in a 5 gallon
Comedy, very helpful though!!👍👍
A paint brush works better to apply tire dressing.
