If I'm proud of your son, I can't imagine what you feel about him. You are teaching him things that our youth will never even see in their entire lives! Hats off to you Derek! You really are the dad of the century! It's so heartwarming to see his interest, and how well you boys work together!
Derek, I rarely comment on your videos but this one I needed to. I lost my dad last February. Him and I did everything together. And watching you with your boys, reminds me so much of all the time him and I spent together. They are really lucky to have you and will definitely remember this for the rest of their life.
Derek thank you for taken the time to chat with me yesterday at the Napa in Columbus Ohio I hope that old bird made you home inspired me to get one of your shirts I watch your videos with my son every night when he hears your intro he lights up and makes my day thank you for being what we all inspire to be keep on keeping on
This has to be in my top 5 favorite videos. To see your son’s knowledge growing, him asking questions and throwing out possible problems and helping you trouble shoot that thing was amazing.
Seeing the utmost interest and compassion that Bentley has for this trade is absolutely incredible, he truly deserves the 400 supercharged in this rig, I feel as though that was your plan all the time, what a great DAD you are.
I am in total agreement so I think the supercharged 400 should go in it... But not yet. I would put a high .400 lift cam in it, let him tool that around for a little bit and get used to how snappy an sbc is... After he's got a handle on that, then put that heavy breather in it, on the fresh build all shining and looking like it doesn't belong in your shop😂 you know so nice it scares a fella. Keep the outside of the truck looking a little ratty when you open that jewelry box you see that diamond shining inside
Also quick trick for the window disconnect the regulator from the bottom of the window shove the wind or the whole way up and then put a piece of two-by-four in it to hold it up and run a drywall screw through an existing hole to hold the two-by-four in place... Never done that before 🙄
When you stopped and said something to the effect of “he thinks we are just working on a rig but I got some other intentions,” as a dad, made me tear up. What a great dad.
You don't have a choice about what to do with this truck! It's obvious your son is in LOVE with this rig! Watching him clean on it, and the look on his face when it fired for a second was priceless! Always love seeing the time you spend with your sons on this channel, especially the littlest human you're responsible for! You and your family are what makes your channel so great. Great job dad!
Got to be bentleys truck, made me realise so much you have to do things like this with your kids, teach them something that will serve them well for the rest of there life. And Derek you do an amazing job! Make this bentleys truck..
Derek, you are a great dad,I wish more dad's could see you with Bentley. As he gets older he will come to you when life gets confusing. So heart warming to see you two together.
Some day your kids will remember the times you spent with them teaching them how to do the work you do. Hats off to you. The world needs more fathers like you!!!
Bentley deserves the 400... he showed so much initiative. Great team you have there. What a great truck. I love your channel found you about a month ago. And now look forward to your new episodes but have also enjoyed going back and watching them all. Love what your doing. What a great family.
I am so proud of Bentley. He hangs right in there and he’s right that 400 with super charger on it got to be the one that goes in it. I love how he works with you and you take your time with him. He’s very lucky to have a dad like you. I always notice that whenever you’re working on stuff. Bentley is always right there with you. Love watching you y’all.
I love watching your videos especially the ones where the kids get involved. When they were young my wife was a stay at home Mom. I worked all the time. I would by my cars to drive back and forth to work at garage sales and auctions. And very much like you, I would make them run to get them home. I usually would drive the cars for a while and then sell them for a profit. Anyway, watching you work on this truck with Bentley brought back such great memories and some tears missing the good old days. All of my kids, two boys and a girl, grew up to be successful and talented people. They still talk about the old cars and I still make salvage yard trips occasionally with my daughter. Doesn’t get any better than that.
This is what America needs alot more of. It doesn't get any better than this and at the same time keeping the kids occupied while learning important life skills that I guarantee you is going to come in handy sooner than later. Good stuff and is appreciated.
Dude, I am so jealous that your kid is spending all that time out there with you wrenching. I've got 3 boys myself (all much older than yours) and only 1 of them has the slightest interest in working on cars, and that interest seems to come and go. Cherish that time, both of you will have great memories for a lifetime.
Exactly the same situation with my kids- 3 kids and only one has an interest in cars but it’s intermittent. One day he’ll ask what’s next for the Cobra and the next day he’s like “cars are boring, I like Roblox”. Lol.
Whenever you find yourself, condescending, overbearing, halfassed, impatient with amateur assistance, or humorless in the wake of adversity, be like Derek, not like my dad. Fifteen years of holding the flashlight and pumping the brake pedal only to be rewarded with, see above bad behavior, does not incentivise enthusiastic participation. I managed to learn despite him. I do not miss that time at all. Bentley is a calm, quiet, thoughtful, sensitive boy. They do not get seen much unless you have a dad like Derek that appreciates him and brings him to the forefront.
What an absolute treat that was. Bentley is a great addition to todays video. You are giving him something the world never could: Thanks Derek for inviting us into your family’s lives. We all learn a little by your example. Keep on Rockin in the Free World!!
Working on old trucks with your son is pretty close to heaven on earth for us folks. I think Derik and Bentley would agree. Love the content and the family
Gotta say your boy Bentley sure shows a strong work ethic. He’s a natural explaining what’s going on step by step too. You’ve got to be plenty proud as a father. Great work!
Absolutely love the fact that his son is out there and Soo interested in what his dad is doing and wants to be involved. Need more kids like that in this world.
My stepsons are learning how to change pads and rotors this weekend. Also how to curse and overcome. I may not be their father, but i can still be their daddy. 15 yr old has been practicing using a clutch on my daily, and may get to drive our weekend cruiser of he’s lucky 😅
I won’t kid you man. When you said that about working with Bentley, it brought a tear to my eye. It reminded me of the 86 Silverado my dad and I rebuilt when I was about Bentley’s age. The whole reason why I love restoring old vehicles now. You do a hell of a job brother. And we love and appreciate everything you do. No matter if it’s a revival or a rally I’m here for it all
I'd like to see a teardown, to visualize what all of that damage actually looks like. I know its probably not worth rebuilding, but it would be interesting to see what causes all these problems.
I agree with Bentley a Supercharged Hot Rod but at least definitely an engine swap great to see Bentley working with you on this project 👍 all my very best Simon from the UK ❤
I owned a repair shop for 20 years and taught my son the skills he has today. Im telling you Derek that you are the master when it comes to teaching your son(s). Its so hard to not grab the tool from them due to being impatient. Keep doing what you do. Your kids can get a job anywhere with the basics you are teaching. Lifetime skill set.
Makes me miss my dad he was always patient with me and my brother and would let us problem solve with him we would always give each other a ✋🏾 when we finished working on a car love watching these videos I have a son he’s 4 and can’t wait to do the same with him
Derick your amazing with your son and he’s a great kid. Reminds me of myself and my dad he taught me the basics spark / compression/ fuel. Gap the plugs with a dime and points with a match book. My dads gone now but l I’ll always remember him taking the time to teach me and your son won’t forget you either
Derek I think you’ve not option but to do a mini series with the little feller! His passions and obvious falling in love with this rig is amazing and heart warming!! I hope you’ll get back to this rig with the little feller and bring us along for the ride!
at 67 years old, I can relate to this. My grandfather owned a garage business in a rural town in Pennsylvania. He began picking me up on Saturdays in the mid 1960s spending the days together working on customers cars. At the age of 10 years old, he was my hero. Your videos show Bentley's love for what you are doing, and he is defiantly benefiting from your mentoring! It is so refreshing to watch these episodes! Please keep them coming!!
It's heart-warming to read so many comments here that show how these videos remind so many of us of childhood experiences with our fathers. My dad was a hobby mechanic, and a good one. We worked on countless projects together, and always wrapped up at the end with one of our garage paint jobs, which my mom hated. Her washer & dryer lived in the garage, and these always took on a new "tint" with each paint job.
I’m adding a comment simply to say, give Bentley the truck he deserves it. The comments that say you’re the father of the century is absolutely true having come from Minnesota myself 75 years ago I know the work out like that was instilled upon you and that you have instilled upon Bentley, great job Derick keep it up. God bless you and your family ! Bryan.
Not gonna lie this one got me in the feels. Best episode yet Derek. Brought back memories of wrenching with my dad. Please put that 400 in that truck and put Bentley behind the wheel. You are doing it right bud!
This was a great episode. Really made me think about spending time in the garage with my dad and how I probably wasn't quite as helpful as I thought I was being, but he never let me know it. I love how comfortable he is taking the camera and filming his own segment talking through what he's up to. I can't wait for more of these style episodes, or a few years from now when he's just a full fledged co-host of the channel with you, going out on revivals, swapping out the driving duties on the way home...
Your son is very fortunate to have a dad like you I never had time like that with my dad it's really cool to see you guys together I'm a new viewer good job on isolating the problem
Man, vids like this make me miss hanging out and helping my grandpa in the shop with the tractors and trucks. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures, Derek. Making memories that'll last a lifetime with the kids, and helping us remember ours.
I think it would be cool to watch Bentley and you do a cheap rebuild on that engine. It will be a great teaching experience for him and he will be very proud of himself when it fires up and is running. Great episode as always.
My thoughts exactly. Although he really wants to drop the 400 in it, it’ll be a bit safer (slower) for him to drive with the 350. You know, just in case it becomes his going to town rig.
From someone who never knew my dad it does my heart good to see you teaching your kids and showing them what a real dad should be like. Your kids will remember how to be a good dad if they have kids themselves. It’s hard to know how to be a good dad if you never had one yourself, it’s Ike learning how to drive with no lessons 😊
Watching how excited Bentley was with getting this truck running, I definitely think it would be awesome to let him help you replace that motor. It’ll be a memory he would never forget, and that truck by association will always be a connection to you that he will treasure forever. Way to go Derek. As a father myself, I love seeing you and him work together. Let’s see that old thing run and drive again. It’s too good not to.
Great kids like Bentley tend to come from great parents. Maybe VGG should start a, "how to" channel on raising great kids. If more parents were like this, most of the prison, child welfare offices etc. would close.
@@Brooke52528 You don't see much of them, maybe they're a little camera shy. Or just not into cars, I remember the episode where he got the 69 Camaro going and gave it to the oldest. He didn't really seem too impressed, like he'd rather have a late model Honda or something.
This is the way all Dads should be with their little men. I didn't have any type of good relationship with my Dad, so this is very heart warming to watch!
Bentley is a real trooper. That little human seems to love automobiles and is an awesome sidekick to have in the garage. He will go far in life. Great job Derek!
Not sure if there is an award for best UA-cam dad, you win dude, hands down. Brings a tear and reminds me of how my generations dads and moms were actually just that. We need to get back to these foundations as a country and as human beings. Thanks for everything you do. One of the best channels on the 'tube.
I love this Quality time together,Derek is a great dad and the lessons and knowledge he’s learning,I didn’t have a dad growing up but it makes me feel good to watch them bonding.
Not only am I proud of Bentley, but also Bradley and Baileigh as well you teach them boys so much that most dad's don't do anymore. You teach them things that they probably would have never learned from anyone else. Your a great dad and husband to your family Derek! I love this show and roadworthy rescues! What you do is amazing! I hope you never stop making these videos they are very enjoyable! Also you give us many laughs!
Derek seeing you and Bentley working on that rig brought me back to the days that me and my dad worked on his old truck. It truly brought tears to these old eyes. Enjoy the days you have with your kids and teach them well. It's so good seeing him have such an interest in mechanical hands on work. Thank you so much for bringing back fond memories.
Watching Bentley be so involved in this one, and seeing Brad come through in the clutch, man I thoroughly enjoyed watching! I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, best UA-camr, dad, entertainer, and the best channel out there!
Man this takes me back .to the days me and my dad would work on his old 79 bronco. And it makes my heart happy to see him learning. And it don't hurt for us to learn afew things .. your the man brother keep it up .your making him smarter and he will learn a skill the world needs ❤
Derek, my dude, you're a great mechanic and an awesome guy, but an even better father. Bentley is one of the nicest "little humans" I've ever seen, man. The apple definitely didn't fell far from the tree.
Do a small rebuild on the 400 and have your son go through it with you and put it in. Looks like he really likes the truck and the 400 motor. This was a great episode with your son and your oldest. Thank you for the episodes
Brought back memories of watching/helping my late dad back in the day with car maintenance, cleaning points, changing oil, and flushing coolant on a 67 Olds Cutlass. Great that your son is so interested in mechanical work. I hope you can either repair or replace the engine and clean up the paint and replace the wood in the truck bed and maybe make this 78 chevy truck a present for your son Bentley. Totally addicted to VGG and all the great work that and your family do, especially the GTO and other efforts for veterans. We veterans really appreciate your efforts to help those in need.
Reminds me of working on cars in the driveway with my dad. Some of my best memories. Thanks dad. And thank you Derek for passing on your knowledge while sharing this special time with all of us. It's a muscle build so I think fix the air shocks and give 'er the 400, 500, whatever it takes.
Definitely follow Bently's idea and drop the 400 in it. So awesome to see his interest and willingness to help out working with you. I think following through by using his swap idea would be great. Do a tear down investigation of the engine so we can see what all went wrong and if it's a core worth rebuilding at some other point. Whatever you choose I'm sure will make for more great content. It's always a pleasure to watch you working on vehicles especially when one or more of the family is in on it too.
I Love watching you and Bentley working together. These are memories he will look back on for the rest of his life. You're a great dad Derek and watching your passion for the old cars become his passion is awesome to watch! Thanks for sharing!
ANY new “Will It Run” vids from VGG get an instant “Like” from me. So glad to see you getting back to your roots. Little Man Bentley is always a bonus as well. That little dude is following right in dad’s footsteps and I love seeing you two work together, like a father and son should. Warms my heart, brother.
It looks like a great little truck, I think it deserves a rebuilt heart and as young Bentley said a new ply deck. Its great you are letting your boys help and are showing them how to do these projects. Keep up the great content Derek and thanks for sharing with us.
You have a very good kid helping you out, and learning the ropes about restoring vehicles that have been abandoned over time. He won't let you down, he would do what you ask of him, work as a team, and when he gets older he'll take over the business one day and make you proud of him, as he is of you.
You are just the most perfect dad for Bently, you are so complimentary and supportive of the young fella, I hope a million Dads watch this and take note of how to mentor a kiddo
What a absolutely awesome dad you are. Keep it up. Sounds like it's now the littlest humans truck so better jam the 400 in it. Can't wait to see the rest.
There is success in failure. It was cool to see the diagnostic process to evaluate a failed/faulty engine. Definitely learned something today from this video. Hope everyone has a great weekend and Independence Day!
This is why I will always be a VGG fan. I enjoy Derek’s humor and automotive knowledge, but when he’s working with his family, it’s a whole other level of greatness. Bentley will probably remember this for the rest of his life. Thanks Derek and Family for the Great Videos. Good Job, Bentley.
Reminds me so much of dad and myself when I was a kid, every single thing I know about vehicles is because of dad, Derrick your passing the torch to your sons, I appreciate the patience and time you take with your kids. 🙏👏
Just recently started watching your channel, love the content but really enjoy the father son episodes. Recently I lost my oldest son. We had a repair shop together and worked side by side for over 8 years, watching you and bently work together on stuff hits home and brings back so many good memories. Keep up the good work and cherish every moment with your kids.
"He thinks we're just working on a rig...but dad's got other intentions." Make those memories Derek those boys will appreciate every minute spent together and you can never go wrong spending time with your kids.
I was born in 1962. I love old school. And I enjoy watching you renew old stuff. Can I put some tingle in my heart? And I love putting you so you. Can you put your kids in there with you? I wish you all the luck in success in the world. Keep up the good work, love big John.
1:23:30 that excited little "bring the thunder!" and then the face when it fired was adorable. I cant wait to have a kid of my own to have those experiences ❤
Derek, this has to be my favorite video, seeing you work with Bentley is so wonderful, and seeing him learn (And he already seems to know alot) is great, and will be a memory both of you will have for the rest of your lives. It also gives Bentley a useful skill that he will be able to use, even if he decides not to wrench on cars (He would be able to smell a scam from whomever works on it). Since Bentley worked on it so much, I say let him pick the engine, throw that supercharged 400 in there. It already does have that hot rod vibe, and that would totally complete that. Plus pre-LS, the 400 probably would have been the go-to engine for a hot-rodder back when this was hopped up with headers. I also wanted to say as a huge, huge fan. Please don't feel pressured to make these videos instead of joining the family on a vacation. I know this is your livelihood, but man, 10 or 20 years from now, doing a revival isn't going to trump the time you wish you could have spent with the family. You work incredibly hard and you deserve the vacation! And...Your garage is identical to mine "No, no, over there by the bow and arrow and....and...". "I can't find nothin'" :)
Derek, you have the best family ever, everyone loves to help you anytime! That’s totally amazing my friend! Bentley is such awesome help Derek, always willing to help dad and that’s worth everything! You’re so blessed to have such a wonderful family Derek! I love these videos of dad and son too!
I love how you include your son in some of your projects and give him actual hands on experience with the patience to let him actually learn. Some of my fondest memories were times as a kid that I was wrenching with my dad.
I think Bentley is dead set on putting the 400 in it, but I think I would rebuild the 350 to put in it later. Ya can tell how much Bently enjoys working on these rigs with his dad and I think dad enjoys it even more. Derek you are what a father should be and are one great husband and dad. Love your site and really love your entire family and your values. We are really lacking in that now a days in a lot of families, but I think there is a bunch out there just like you and your family. Keep up the great work.
Best part of any project/build is watching your kid take the skills they learned over the years and put them to good use. Congrats Derek on keeping the knowledge transfer alive.
This was an awesome video! This old feller had a knot in his throat a few times watching you and your little human work together. Thanks for sharing the videos with us all and blessings to you and your family Derek.
This reminds me of when i was younger and used to sit in the garage and help my dad work on the family car. It really makes me wonder if my kids are going to want to do the same. It really brings back good memories and I can inly imagine how your boys will feel about moments like this
Derek, you are theee man!!! So happy to see your family being together, and sharing memories. This is the kind of time your son will cherish having had with you. He will look back on this when he has his own children and be so thankful for. You are 100% doing it right.
I'd love to see that cam. I can't imagine the entire lob being gone, I mean I guess I have to because I didn't see the rocker move at all. Great effort and follow through. Great lesson to keep trying.
So proud to the next generation of VGG in the making. Warms the heart to see a father and sons moment! Thanks for all the content and all the things you all do. Keep up the great work and can’t wait to see this truck in the future!
Love y’all’s relationship you can tell you are so proud of him. These memories are going to last a lifetime. Side note: that aerokroil penetrant is the best money can buy! If you need some local to you and me both you can buy it at Napa in Pulaski. It is pricey but so worth it, once you see how good it works you see why.
Nothing makes me happier than to watch you and your son work on a Truck together. Reminds me when I use to work side by side with my Grandpa when I was a young kid. Great memories
as a dad and now a grandpa too - it is fun to watch you work with your sons in the pole barn and on the road, teaching them - imparting the knowledge you've accumulated over the years in the same affable way as you do with the audience out here. It's vital to create a welcoming space for people if you want them to 'collect' that knowledge from you, as you seem to know already. Thanks for sharing the critical aspects of not just car mechanics and methods - but the outstanding PARENTING clinic that comes along with it - whenever the boys are around. I think the lil' feller is going to love his re-engined and refurbished Chev -ro- let pick up truck when the day comes. This gotta be the best channel on te intranets by a quarter mile, Derek and I - ain't - kiddin ya
I would love to see a budget rebuild on the old 350. With the kids involved of course. Watching you work on these things with the kids brings back memories of working on the old motors with my dad
Man my heart is just overwhelmed with emotions, and I'm 66 yrs young,I am experiencing what a real man is,what we can all learn from this incredible human being, i never had a father who spend any time with my brother and I, would degrade us if we didn't know how to do something,,call us stupid,we both left the house as soon as finished school, learned things on our own, never had a role model until i came across Derek channel, what a blessing
I LOVE how you are with your family! My son just graduated from UTI and is working as a mechanic and while he was growing up we had so many awesome and fun moments working on cars in the garage. We have so many more adventures to go and I couldn't be more excited for it. Seeing how you are with the boys and your wife, warms my heart.
If I'm proud of your son, I can't imagine what you feel about him. You are teaching him things that our youth will never even see in their entire lives! Hats off to you Derek! You really are the dad of the century! It's so heartwarming to see his interest, and how well you boys work together!
Thanks for the kind words
Right that's exactly what I was thinking as well. I love it and You know Derek is one proud Dad and He should be
This is what all of us dads should doing with our sons.

I got one of those replies. I knew it wasn’t Derek and/or Jessica & the kidz.
Hey I got a old 84 dodge 350 custom and it's my first revival

Sorry to hear that
I agree bro my father taught me how to paint cars. Took a while now I'm the backup painter for gerber collision.
Sorry for your loss @parkermerrill9549

I just rewatched this video. What did you end up doing with this rig? I was thinking that you dropped another engine in it but wasn’t sure.
This has to be in my top 5 favorite videos. To see your son’s knowledge growing, him asking questions and throwing out possible problems and helping you trouble shoot that thing was amazing.
It's VERY touching to see such a good father and son relationship.
No doubt!
Seeing the utmost interest and compassion that Bentley has for this trade is absolutely incredible, he truly deserves the 400 supercharged in this rig, I feel as though that was your plan all the time, what a great DAD you are.
I agree, drop the 400 and make it a father/son project. Bentley can then drive it to high school and pick all the girls.
So cool to watch this team work on the old truck!
I am in total agreement so I think the supercharged 400 should go in it... But not yet. Never done that before 🙄
He needs a 4wd!
When you stopped and said something to the effect of “he thinks we are just working on a rig but I got some other intentions,” as a dad, made me tear up. What a great dad.

Derek, you are a great dad,I wish more dad's could see you with Bentley. As he gets older he will come to you when life gets confusing. So heart warming to see you two together.
The amount of patience and attention you show your son is admirable. Much respect watching a dad be a great teacher.
Thank you so much
Doesn't need patience, that little guy was well raised and is well behaved.
Oh put that 400 in it
Some day your kids will remember the times you spent with them teaching them how to do the work you do. Hats off to you. The world needs more fathers like you!!!

Not only is Derek educating the next generation with all the knowledges but he's teaching all the proper noises when doing the things 🙂
You took me back on time at least 40 years, when I use to help my dad fixing the old family car .
You’ll live on his heart for ever .
Bentley deserves the 400... he showed so much initiative. Great team you have there. What a great truck. I love your channel found you about a month ago. And now look forward to your new episodes but have also enjoyed going back and watching them all. Love what your doing. What a great family.

Mark my words: this kid is going to be a LEGEND! hehe
Love watching Bentley growing in his confidence and abilities! 👍
You’re doing a great job as a Dad, Derek
I love watching your videos especially the ones where the kids get involved. When they were young my wife was a stay at home Mom. I worked all the time.
I would by my cars to drive back and forth to work at garage sales and auctions. And very much like you, I would make them run to get them home. I usually would drive the cars for a while and then sell them for a profit.

This is what America needs alot more of. It doesn't get any better than this and at the same time keeping the kids occupied while learning important life skills that I guarantee you is going to come in handy sooner than later. Good stuff and is appreciated.

Shoot ,I wish I had a Dad like this! It's a beautiful thing to see!!
What an absolute treat that was. Bentley is a great addition to todays video. You are giving him something the world never could: Thanks Derek for inviting us into your family’s lives. We all learn a little by your example.
Keep on Rockin in the Free World!!
Awesome couldn't have said it any better Derek world class DAD.
Working on old trucks with your son is pretty close to heaven on earth for us folks. I think Derik and Bentley would agree. Love the content and the family
my father was really shitty, never fixed anything ever drove cars without oil, terrible guy but thats the wayshe gos
Gotta say your boy Bentley sure shows a strong work ethic. He’s a natural explaining what’s going on step by step too. You’ve got to be plenty proud as a father. Great work!
Yes you can see cars are his thing. The other boys don’t seem as excited and they have different personalities and likes.
Luckily the young man isn't talking dad out of new projects. Trust me that happens. "Let's finish this one first". 😁
Absolutely love the fact that his son is out there and Soo interested in what his dad is doing and wants to be involved. Need more kids like that in this world.
Kids are TAUGHT this by good parents. So dont blame the kids for the world, they didnt have to learn.
My stepsons are learning how to change pads and rotors this weekend. Also how to curse and overcome. I may not be their father, but i can still be their daddy. 15 yr old has been practicing using a clutch on my daily, and may get to drive our weekend cruiser of he’s lucky 😅
Wow! What an awesome dad!
So patient and chill, letting your kid try stuff and learn.
Kid was in perfect reactionary unison with his dad running the ignition.
billgates!!!!!
It’s amazing to see you keeping your kids in your hobbies. The 400 would be a cool engine swap. making it even more of a muscle truck.
Thank you 🙏
I agree
Makes me miss my dad he was always patient with me and my brother and would let us problem solve with him we would always give each other a ✋🏾 when we finished working on a car love watching these videos I have a son he’s 4 and can’t wait to do the same with him
Derick your amazing with your son and he’s a great kid. Reminds me of myself and my dad he taught me the basics spark / compression/ fuel. Gap the plugs with a dime and points with a match book. My dads gone now but l
I’ll always remember him taking the time to teach me and your son won’t forget you either
Derek I think you’ve not option but to do a mini series with the little feller! His passions and obvious falling in love with this rig is amazing and heart warming!! I hope you’ll get back to this rig with the little feller and bring us along for the ride!
Yeah agree
@@minimalistinlife is he a tree feller or what?
It's amazing how humble, honest and true this kid is. You don't see kids like that often anymore.
I was thinking this while watching it. So cool to see him this interested. Plus, i like how he did some talking in the video too!
GTA and CoD ate them all.
at 67 years old, I can relate to this.
Bryan.
Thanks for the kind words
Bentley is awesome guy guy
This fellow is absolutely right!!!!
That's why he's making him do the work... he he he.
Not gonna lie this one got me in the feels. Best episode yet Derek. Brought back memories of wrenching with my dad. Please put that 400 in that truck and put Bentley behind the wheel. You are doing it right bud!
Absolutely! Drop that nice little 400 in and give the Lil' Red Express Trucks a run for their money!
agreed
hope the kid is earning $20/hour
1:23:45 backfires so cool
Thats what I was thinking
Your son is really committed to doing the repairs and I see a mechanic in the making! What a great kid!
From someone who never knew my dad it does my heart good to see you teaching your kids and showing them what a real dad should be like. Your kids will remember how to be a good dad if they have kids themselves. It’s hard to know how to be a good dad if you never had one yourself, it’s
Ike learning how to drive with no lessons 😊
Watching how excited Bentley was with getting this truck running, I definitely think it would be awesome to let him help you replace that motor. It’ll be a memory he would never forget, and that truck by association will always be a connection to you that he will treasure forever. Way to go Derek. As a father myself, I love seeing you and him work together.
Let’s see that old thing run and drive again. It’s too good not to.
It makes my heart full just watching you and all your boys, especially Bentley. Great dad with great kids!
The world needs more kids like Bentley, he and his brother are an absolute credit to you and your wife.
Great kids like Bentley tend to come from great parents. Maybe VGG should start a, "how to" channel on raising great kids. If more parents were like this, most of the prison, child welfare offices etc. would close.
VGG and Sleeperdude are both fantastic parents and Good people! I love both channels.
There's a 3rd brother too!
@@Brooke52528 You don't see much of them, maybe they're a little camera shy. Or just not into cars, I remember the episode where he got the 69 Camaro going and gave it to the oldest. He didn't really seem too impressed, like he'd rather have a late model Honda or something.
After all that dirt, dust, mold, mouse droppings and fur he should be properly inoculated against allergies and intolerances.
This is the way all Dads should be with their little men. I didn't have any type of good relationship with my Dad, so this is very heart warming to watch!
Bentley is a real trooper. That little human seems to love automobiles and is an awesome sidekick to have in the garage. He will go far in life. Great job Derek!
Truck may have not been revived, but what a great episode. Dad-son quality time is always priceless.
What do you mean not revived
hopefully the son is earning $20/hour or more
I like how Bentley jumps in to learn and help. You’re a very lucky guy to have your wife and children involved in your passion.
Not sure if there is an award for best UA-cam dad, you win dude, hands down. Brings a tear and reminds me of how my generations dads and moms were actually just that. We need to get back to these foundations as a country and as human beings. Thanks for everything you do. One of the best channels on the 'tube.
That’s really cool that you get your kids involved in your projects.
I love this Quality time together,Derek is a great dad and the lessons and knowledge he’s learning,I didn’t have a dad growing up but it makes me feel good to watch them bonding.
Absolutely correct sir ! Good times with your Dad - Priceless !!! You will always remember …
I second this sentiment!
I watch him, sleeperdude and his family, Texas hillbilly, and pole barn garage all great families and car channels.
@@One-Crazy-Cat I like Restored too
Great to see father / son work the world needs more dads like you God Bless
Not only am I proud of Bentley, but also Bradley and Baileigh as well you teach them boys so much that most dad's don't do anymore. You teach them things that they probably would have never learned from anyone else. Your a great dad and husband to your family Derek! I love this show and roadworthy rescues! What you do is amazing! I hope you never stop making these videos they are very enjoyable! Also you give us many laughs!
So cool to see you in the garage with your son. He doesn’t realize it now but even second you guys get to spend together is important.
Same here!!
"DITTO!" 😊😢
Bentley's the older son ya silly old devil
This reminds me of working on cars when I was a kid. It's awesome!
Watching Bentley be so involved in this one, and seeing Brad come through in the clutch, man I thoroughly enjoyed watching! I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, best UA-camr, dad, entertainer, and the best channel out there!
Agree 100%
Man this takes me back .to the days me and my dad would work on his old 79 bronco. And it makes my heart happy to see him learning. And it don't hurt for us to learn afew things .. your the man brother keep it up .your making him smarter and he will learn a skill the world needs ❤
That’s awesome you are spending the time together and teaching him.
I think you should save this truck for him.
Love when you and the littlest human you're responsible for work together on a rig. Great bonding time and he's learning lots. Great job you guys
It's awesome watching you and Lil man work together. Brings back so many good memories of my childhood with my pops.
Love you are spending some quality time with your son, best he will remember you for that long after your gone
How about that old big block that he looked at for a starter? Put that in that lil stepside with an overdrive trans. That would be a great combo.
Absolutely, positively my all-time favorite episode. What a great teaching moment between father and son. Outstanding, Derek!
Good Job, Bentley.
it will be good for Bentley to get in to public school and finally learn useful things like lesbian dance theory
You're growing one heck of a group of fine young men. Watching them grow is a pleasure. Jessica and yourself are doing it right imo.
Condolences on your loss sir......
It's great how you can make each revival different and interesting. A big thanks to you and your son for this one!
"He thinks we're just working on a rig...but dad's got other intentions." Make those memories Derek those boys will appreciate every minute spent together and you can never go wrong spending time with your kids.
GIVE IT TO BENTLY? in the future as long as he continues to be interested in the trade. great kids!
Country song . She thinks were just fishing
I was born in 1962. I love old school. And I enjoy watching you renew old stuff. Can I put some tingle in my heart? And I love putting you so you. Can you put your kids in there with you? I wish you all the luck in success in the world. Keep up the good work, love big John.
Some of my best memories of my dad are working on old cars. I love to see you guys working together and sharing the love of making things run. Thanks.
1:23:30 that excited little "bring the thunder!" and then the face when it fired was adorable. I cant wait to have a kid of my own to have those experiences ❤
Core memory right there.
100%

Your 100% best video so far. Your father to Son onter action hits my heart strings Sir
Awesome watching y’all work together. You have a good young man there. He’s a worker! Great video!
Yeah, been a while since I saw a decent budget rebuild. Would certainly like to see this engine run.
