- The Toronto Maple Leafs lost to the Boston Bruins in Game 4. Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and William Nylander got into an argument on the bench. The Leafs must win all 3 games in order to move onto the second round which feels very unlikely. However, the focus should just be on one game at a time as the Leafs get ready for game 5 in Boston.

Leafs are going to make playoffs. It’s regular season where they thrive. Post season hockey is an entirely different brand which leafs can’t grasp. Three hockey brands are pre-regular-post season. Very different energy, urgency, and effort levels.
The money they get is Dubas fault not the players.
There are some overpaying contracts such as the Tavares and Marner deals. However, both are UFA's in 2025-26 so there remains some optimism that the leafs can retool there team in a different direction.
It's not the players faults. There is no pressure for the players to win other than the pressure they put on themselves which is nothing. Real pressure is seeing empty seats and people throwing away the jerseys

This guy is right - the Toronto Bay Leaves are in big trouble...4 guys eating about 53% of their cap - none of which is a G capable of stealing a close game, all of which are prone to disappearing in big games. Not a lip-reader, but it looks to ME like Nylander is talking to Marner, not Matthews, saying "stop f'ing crying Marner, this isn't f'ing juniors'... judging from the reactions - Matthews just watching the game while Marner has a glove throwing hissy fit, I'd say he's talking to Marner, not Matthews.
The Toronto Maple Leaf's are like Stan Mikita's Chicago Blackhawks, full of talent didn't play as a team and only won one Stanley cup. You build a team from the back end forward. Brenden Shanahan needs to go.

Exactly. About 53% of the cap is going to Matthews, Nylander, Tavares and Marner.... and on any given night, at least two are checked out. Marner, Tavares are the worst offenders.

Athletes at this level and pay should always ensure they stay in top physical and mental shape. Matthews going down for an illness this time of the season is unacceptable. This guys should be living in a damn bubble and be monitored continuously for oncoming issues. They have top medical personnel at the whim.
They should stay away from the ladies 2 weeks before the playoffs. 😘
0:39 Marner forced his player to the outside and came back into zone. The defender just let Boston setup the perfect screen, so samsonov couldn’t see anything. Defense is all over the place. The forwards are getting pulled into weird positions because of the D for most of their goals
Nylander shouldn't have anything to say, he missed 3 games because of a headache, then comes back and starts barking orders, when he doing nothing himself and soon to be making $11.5 Million for doing nothing???
The main problem is the Leafs can't play at the upper level needed for the playoffs and with European players not willing to step up and play a more physical game you are never going to WIN the CUP!!!
Then the coaching and officiating has a major role, in how the Leafs are playing, taking apart the 4th line that was dominate, in the first three games, was stupid and changing players for less productive players is also stupid!!!

When you spend 53% of your Cap on 4 players, you rely heavily for them to perform. The leafs 3rd and 4th line are not as good. Remember you chose not to keep Sam Lafferty who is a cheap contract because you were unable to pay him due to overpaid contracts. Domi and Knies are playing in the top 6 today.
Maybe they can blame it on covid before golf season starts for them.

William Nylander shouldn’t be saying anything, he was a no show for the first 3 games and didn’t do much in game 4. This is nothing new when it comes to the leafs, have been playoff failures for years, their failures is on the coaches shoulder. I think Sheldon Keefe should be fired once the team makes their exit out of the playoffs, we all know it’s going to happen.
