    I had a neighbor tell their tree guys they could use my driveway. Nobody asked me. They dragged the branches over my gravel driveway and pulled most of the rock into my lawn. They also left ruts, branches and leaves, and flattened my rhubarb plants. I appreciate your absolute professionalism.

      I had the same problem along with other damage. The tree service didn’t care when I came out so I had the police trespass them. They didn’t finish the job and didn’t get paid.
      Had they asked, been careful and not been arses about it I would have allowed it.

    • @middlesex_tree
      @middlesex_tree  2 роки тому +8

      We weren’t trespassing. This particular tree was a danger to the neighbor, not necessarily our customer. If the tree fell as branches had already, it could’ve caused serious harm to the neighbor.

      You first comment about the neighbor was good and professional. Not knowing the time span between the conversation with the neighbors and the work being done could have been the problem. Did anyone from your crew speak or leave a note to remind her a day or two out? Your second and third comments makes your company look bad (for future customers in your area) in my opinion. Go by the old Navy term of K.I.S.S. "and we clean up everything to look like it did before we started.
      As a Traffic Flagger there are times I need to block access to homes or a business. (I have done many jobs with tree cutting crews) I will tell them what is going on and that I will work with them before I setup. Now when a tree cutting crew block my driveway and mailbox I was not happy!.
      1. Did you knock on the door? No
      2. Do you pay any bills here? Nio

      It takes time to move equipment and mats. The crane alone takes 45 minutes to take down, plus we had mats on the ground. Once the driveway was clear of all our heavy equipment , cleanup took about 15/20 minutes. We rake and do a final blow out to remove sawdust. Hence leaving it better than when got there. Sorry, I should have clarified

    At one landscape company I worked for we ran into a similar situation. We needed to access the clients yard from the neighbors property so we personally talked with the neighbor to get permission. We let them know any damage to the turf, which we knew was going to happen, would be repaired. In the middle of the job the spouse came home and blew his lid. His wife didn't tell him she gave us permission. We had to stop the job, clean up our mess and then figure out how we were going to finish the job from the clients side. It was a big headache.

    This crew just worked at my home - we had two giant oaks (10’ circumference x 60’ tall) removed and five other giant oaks pruned and I am totally impressed with Derek and his Middlesex Tree work crew. I work from home and was able to watch them between my online meetings and was simply blown away at how coordinated and efficient they are. They took care to protect my lawn and driveway and to clean up. One of the oaks was very close to our home and they brought it down in sections using a crane. I feel really good about having them do this work and am beyond impressed!! Thank you Derek and crew!!

    The neighbor probably didn't fully appreciate how her driveway was going to be use. She may have thought only the truck would be parked, but didn't connect the truck in the driveway to the actual cutting up of the tree and the chipping of the tree in her driveway. Also, the tree being so dry and creating so much dust and flyaways freaked her out. I understand her shock, but hope her reaction wasn't too bad.
    One time I asked my lawn person to trim the hedge in the front yard back because they we getting to large. He agreed. I walked away. I came back and my hedges looked hacked to death. He cut them _way_ back. I freaked out _inside the house._ I couldn't believe it! I drank some water, trashed to myself, went outside and told him I had no idea he was going to cut them back that far. The hedges looked like twigs. No leaves. *On the front of the house.* He told me they would grow back in x amount of time and I would like them. Well, he was right! They grew back full and lush and you would never know.
    TLDR: Trust the professionals and the professionals need to anticipate the customer's concerns *during* the actual work. Professionals don't just focus on what the final result will be because customers freak out in the middle.
    Very nice video! Nice narration too.

      The tree had already caused a hazard to her because limbs were falling into her driveway. I’m happy it’s over, and both of the families involved are safe. Hopefully, she’ll have better days ☺️
      Sometimes when pruning, you have to educate the clients. It can be a shock if you don’t know what you’re looking at. I’m happy it turned out ok and your hedges came back ☺️

Did the customer tell the neighbor your crew was going to make a massive mess and create a lot of noise right next to their house, but would clean up after - doubt it very much

    Excellent video. This is the way large trees should be removed. In sections, and so pieces do not cause anymore property damage than absolutely necessary (includes fences, sheds, flower gardens, debris in neighbors yard, etc.). I have heard people complain about the price of removal, thinking all you need is a chainsaw and not thinking about what could happen. This is definitely not cutting down a tree out in the forest. I think many of us have seen the videos of what can happen when little thought has been given to the job at hand.
    The neighbor should not have gotten so upset. Maybe she thought everything would have already been over and done by the time she came home not realizing what a big job it was. This is the kind of thing that it would probably be a good idea to try to more fully explain things? And maybe also take pictures/video of the area before the work to have it as evidence of the properties condition to avoid future claims of damage? I am really impressed on how you handled the situation and most of all the great work you all did from start to finish.

    I had a neighbor who told a tree company that I told them they could come through my yard go all way to my backyard from my front yard to cut down a tree one house away in their yard. It was a lie I told my neighbor they could not cut through my yard which I had sodded 8 months earlier and had a beautiful lawn. I even had no trespassing signs in my yard two of them. I came home to find the tree company had cut through my side yard into my backyard completely tore up the grass all the way down the house and in the backyard when I ask them to leave they told me I gave permission so I asked them which one of them ever talk to me no one did but the neighbor I had told no. They were jerks didn't care that they tore up my grass I could have had them arrested for trespassing in my private backyard and side yard and charged them with the destruction of my yard. They could have easily access the house where they were cutting the tree down but they had a privacy fence they didn't want to remove so they tore up my yard instead. It was ridiculous I had to replace all the grass which cost a fortune and the neighbor and the tree service never offered to help do anything. And I could have been a real jerk and press charges and sue them for damages. So make sure you talk to the homeowner directly before you trespassing someone's yard don't believe the neighbor you're doing the work for.

      Most sawmills do not want logs that were grown in yards because people nail close lines and bird houses to trees so the trees are riddled with metal sawmills like trees that were grown in the woods free of metal to destroy the blades. @botanynerd6450 2 роки тому

      "Lady day" ? Really stupid the channel owners thumbed up this comment. Something about how you did business clearly upset the neighbor. Maybe you need to communicate better what kind of mess would be on her property and at what time of day it would be cleaned up. Maybe you need to document the verbal agreement with neighbors via text messages or emails so you'd actually have some proof you had permission to be on HER property. Lot's of women hire arborists and this video isn't a ringing endorsement for your company. Unless she was happy at the end of the day best believe she's telling her circle of friends about her negative experience with your company.

    • @billparrish4385
      @billparrish4385 2 роки тому +1

      @@botanynerd6450 How is anything that Barbara said in any way pejorative to the neighbor? "There's no telling what the lady's day was like," means she could have had a bad day, and she called her a lady instead of what she was acting like. Something the channel owner did "clearly" upset the neighbor? How is that "clearly"? Why is he automatically in the wrong, when you saw the cleanup in the video, as well as any of his other videos on this channel where you see the 'after' reveals. The neighbor can't be in the wrong, it has to be the company? Document the verbal agreement with neighbors? He's clearly said he had the neighbor's permission from the night before, in person from herself, after describing the work that would be done, and that he has done work for her in the past. No such job can be pristine _during the job,_ and he didn't promise it would be, only that it would be cleaned up after. She happened to come home before that point in the work, and went ballistic on him and his crew. I tend to believe his account, not because of any misogyny you keep trying to drag into about a dozen comments on here so far, but because of how he's telling the story, answering comments, and presenting himself. If you think describing the fit that a Karen can throw, automatically somehow makes the describer of said fit 'misogynistic', then one has to wonder if that might be your first name. Or maybe the guy owes you money or something. Geez, give it a rest, already....
