ANGRY Neighbour One Side, AWKWARD & Holding Me Up On The Other! BOY Was I Happy To Finish This Job!

Hey everyone, welcome to another video.
So as the title says, this was a roof cleaning job that I was happy to get finished. Roof cleaning can be difficult at the best of times, but when you're having to deal with an awkward neighbour one side, and an angry neighbour on the other, it can make the whole experience quite unpleasant.
Anyway, apart from the neighbours, the job went pretty smoothly. This concrete tiled roof had a LOT of moss on it, that created a fair bit of mess to clean up.
It's gone from a dark shade of brown/black to an attractive, even shade of terracotta. The customer is happy, as now he doesn't have to deal with his gutters constantly getting blocked by moss, and also finding it lying around on his exterior floor and lean to roof . So although this wasn't the nicest of jobs to carry out, it was a good result, with myself and the customer happy with the end result. Cheers for watching, Nick.

They are just peeved because their dirty roofs look even more awful next to the one you cleaned so beautifully ! ☺️
Aw thanks Pam, so kind of you ❤️
@@PrestigeExternalCleaning I had a neighbour like that, I was having windows replaced and he did everything he could to obstruct the workers, then when I was having gutters and the uPVC stuff replaced, he started a fight and called police. He said I had "stolen his idea and must be listening to him and his wife talking by using big microphones on the wall". When I got the vertical blinds he made some false statement and had me arrested as his wife's dad was a police officer. I will never forget that, he got home around 5pm, noticed them and was screaming and shouting.
He was just mad that I had work done and he seemed to think I should ask permission about what I did in my own home, the same as the rest of the neighbours he had rows with.
He moved a few years ago fortunately, probably Sectioned for the protection of everyone.
I can sympathise with the sort of people you have to put up with. My old neighbours had mental health issues and used to enjoy handing the workmen brushes and forcing them to brush any tiny little thing up. They used it to their advantage.
That looks brilliant by the way. My new neighbours had theirs done and I wish they had told me as I would have paid the person to do my roof at the same time!!!!
@@Bond2025My sister has told me tales of her neighbour from Hell. I have to say, I've been extremely lucky, all my next-door neighbours have been golden, hopefully they thought the same of me
@@PrestigeExternalCleaningthinking of getting my roof done it's the same size as that one in your vlog mate, how much would it cost me? 👍🏻
Guttering?
25 minutes?! He was definitely doing that on purpose 😑 And then the other neighbor yells at you over a puddle?! 🙄 What’s he do when it rains?? Yell at the sky about the puddles?! 🤣 Probably both are upset because their roofs look like crap compared to the nicely cleaned roof 😂 Wonderful job Nick! ❤
Then to see him standing outside watching…hilarious
@@lauralake7430
Good enough for him - he had to have been catching spray and getting wet! 🤣🤣 I'd have been reallly tempted to have my hand slip and give him a quick spray then say sorry!
Must be a fool moon.
Storms are destroying cities around Europe as we speak, but for some people, puddle is an ultimate challenge.
On a serious note, this was rather unpleasant experience for someone who didn't do anything to provoke this and who takes great pride in his job. I feel clients should step up in situations like this, ensuring safe working conditions for people on their property, not leaving them to deal by themselves with hostile neighbors. I guess ability to look life from funny side is a blessing in situations like this, although not always easy. 'The case of perplexed puddle and taking the time to another level'.
I was going to comment the exact same thing. I feel bad for this customer having these guys as neighbors!
The neighbour was wearing a skirt so obviously from the Indian subcontinent, the Muslim part. What a prat.
What the frig is WRONG with people these days. If I were the Neighbour I would have run out and asked how much and could you do my side while you were up there. Brilliant job darlin’ 👏👏👏👏👏
theyre bored, they need to get a life.. time to bring back the gladiator arena i reckon

I'd certainly be curious if there's a discount since he's already setup there and all!
"Water might get in my house!", the neighbour says, seemingly unaware of what rainwater does when it falls outside.

@@LykeArgy I actually thought that England has a lot of rain... when it really rains here, we, the high-pressure cleaners, are pale with envy. Is this the desert region in England?

The main problem with these types of neighbors is that - after doing your job - they'll be seen by others as dirty ones who don't invest money to make their roofs clean. And that drives them crazy.
And who does he complain to when it rains?
Don't invest much in their gardens, either, by the looks of it.
I always thought you shouldn’t clean roofs, they are probably concerned their tiles might be damaged or dislodged and the felt the same, also the mess it will cause to their property. I presume the home owner warned them and any damage or mess to their property would be carried out for free.
the trans with the skirt on is probley a pedo and tell him where he came from the desert that water is good stuf.
That is low life reaction...they feel offended by the normal people existence...😂
A thoroughly decent guy doing a dangerous and dirty job to provide a living for himself and his family.
He showed more restraint than most of us would when confronted by what can only be described as antagonistic behaviour.
Those neighbours should hang their heads in shame the petty minded persons they are.
A very professional job well done. Nick you can hold your head up and be proud of yourself.
This country needs more people like you. I wish you and your business all the best.😊
Thank you Paul, your comment means a lot. All the best, Nick

That’s just not neighbourly, this weekend my neighbour came over with a sprayer and chainsaw and helped me clear half my yard, he said “and I don’t want anything, if you can’t help your neighbour there’s something wrong with you” he’s a legend! I bought him his favourite drink, if you can buy a drink for your legend neighbour there’s something wrong with you lol! Amazing job!
That neighbour is a DH don`t mind him. Your a honest hard working person.

Hi from Australia Nick. Unfortunately so many people are not happy unless they are making somebody else miserable. You were today’s target. Luckily you handled it with style. Great job.
From Australia here too, Lisa. He handled it with total professionalism. People like those 'Karens', make the hardest working successful bloke want to either deck them or just throw in the towel altogether and find a different job where there are no 'Karens'.
I feel sorry for the real decent Karens whose names are being sullied by those types of people he had to deal with. Sadly, we have 'Karens' here to down under. It's even worse when it's a male form of 'Karen'.

This is the problem when children become adults but carry on being children mentally! It is a credit to you, to have such patience! Something I have been working on for a long time!
I’m guessing fuck off is not part of your the vocabulary anymore…..😀

Absolutely right mate
I like your scaffolding, the way you setup and breakdown into a efficient way.
You did a cracking job - professional and polite.
Nice one.
These are the same neighbors who can have any work THEY want done..without a backward glance at you. I have a neighbor who told the workmen to park on my driveway and block me in. But the rest of the block can’t park in front of her house. .. ever.
You were patient and kind.
first day in my last house my neighbor came around to tell me where I couldn't park my own car on my own drive, two bungalows with seperate drives and entrances, we ignored her so she came around again a week later and got told to do one. I moved away two years later and the new owner moved in and put a shipping container and a work van on the drive-I would of paid money to see her reaction to that.
Had my roof cleaned a few years back. Same thing happened, my neighbour kicked-off over a tiny bit of mess on her side, when their 'garden' is totally (and I mean TOTALLY) overgrown. Makes you even more determined to keep your own property looking good in the hope of shaming them into doing something about their own.
Great job.

always look up the legal noise level at certain hours of the day (to have in defence for your sake, theres literally no defence against that) its usually between 7 in for morning to about 10 at night its almost unrestricted because of potential work being done or just that people are awake during those hours.
None of that is your problem. Fuck the neighbours. They'd they'll be creating the same noise when they need work doing.

not watched you before, im a self employed roofer, have to say you worked bl00dy hard. you didnt stop. dont let the neighbours get to you - you can only be so nice then thats it - they can jog on!!!! - great job!!
I am SO IMPRESSED! Really, operating a 20’ (?) long high pressure wand in wind with near-pinpoint accuracy - you must have the arms of Hercules! Beautiful job all around. A few notes …
1. It looks like dealing with a hostile public might be half the job! Kudos for handling both neighbors with such grace. Most of us would probably just escalate the delicate situations.
2. I hope you’re using non-conductive (preferably fiberglass) high-gauge ladders in your work. I bought a 14’ (28’ extended) aluminum ladder shortly after I bought my home, to do my own roofwork and window cleaning. When I went to use it, I was shocked how much it flexed just under my body weight (130 lbs)! When I tried to donate it to my painting contractor, he said, “thank you but no,” for those reasons. Between working with water, around utilities, and at such high elevations, your safety is paramount. Further, were I your mother, I’d make you wear a helmet. 😉
3. I’m curious how exterior home maintenance works for attached homes in the UK. It looked like the entire roof was continuously shingled, yet each unit is responsible for their piece’s maintenance after that? Would some sort of roof tile/shingle masking tape make the delineation between the subject property and the neighbors help?
The helmet remark reminded me of one of my bosses many many years ago. Our highest building was 200ft tall with a 30x30 ft flat roof and a 3 foot wall around it. Whilst working up there fitting lights on top of the wall the boss came and started ranting about not wearing a helmet. I just looked up into the sky, laughed and carried on.
@@royboy6890 OMG - at 200’, only a 10’ diameter of bubble wrap and a prayer could have hoped to save you!
Great job. Don't let the neighbors get to you, what matters is the customer being satisfied.
I hate that you have to deal with such entitled people. I think the neighbor was just looking at how great of a job you were doing and felt jealous that his was not as nice. Great job as always Nick!
What I don’t get: is having seen a job done well, efficiently and with care
Why would not get the man’s number so you KNOW what your getting when you get them back for yours!

Excellent job, I’m impressed! The neighbours’ reactions reminded me of the time I had the stone front cleaned… they did it by painting the stone with detergent, in sections, and then jet hosing it off. It was a clean job and didn’t take too long, and since they hadn’t seen anything like it before half the street came out for a look. The lady at the corner shop told me later that everyone was impressed with it, it was a lot better than sand blasting! Then my neighbour came home; he stood at his gate and looked up at it, then said to the guys doing the job, “Yer shit mah paint, yer pay, raht!” One of the guys said, “OK, mate,” and he went in and shut the door. Some people just have to be nasty, don’t they!

Jealousy can be likened to a malady, leading individuals to seek any pretext to express anger without cause, driven solely by envy. This phenomenon is not uncommon even among family members.

Awesome job mate, well done !
I come across neighbours in my job as a gardener who can be as nasty. I'm an Englishman living in Australia, whilst servicing a property last week, 2 or 3 leaves blew onto a man's property across the road, he came out and verbally abused me, I went across to say sorry and remove the leaves, to which he replied after he heard my accent that I didn't belong in his country, and he would beat the crap out of me, plus a lot of other expletives. Totally respect tradesman like Nick from Prestige Cleaning, for the undeniable results they produce and professionalism when dealing with members of the public. That neighbour wearing a skirt designed for a hotter climate, was most likely scared of the " magical " long black snake spitting water onto the roof and was worried it might come and drown & then eat him and his family. I work for a large construction company refurbishing social housing in central London, for the past 13yrs, and as part of the management team dealing with the public daily I have come to the conclusion 85% of the public are psychotic/mental most of the time, and even worse after Lockdown.
