Thinking your neighbor has no right to cut branches over THEIR property is just crazy. So what, do you think it’s ok to build a second story that goes over your fence and onto someone else’s yard? Just because it doesn’t touch the ground or it starts on your side doesn’t mean you have the right to the air space above your neighbors property. Our whole property is surrounded by trees and we tell our neighbors if any branches bother them they are welcome to cut them or let us know and we’ll take care of it. And I don’t even like having trees on the whole property line because it’s just a hazard and liability, but they all popped up and look beautiful like we’re out in the forest but I’d never plant a tree close enough to my house or property line that could fall and cause damage.

I have lived in a few different countries and have seen that exact scenario play over and over again in all of them!! World is full of Karens AND kens and for them is about having power over others, nothing to do with the trees!!

Well done that cop! His patience, and the way he expressed himself to deal with the persistence of the lady was impressive. He deserves an award!

Crazy neighbor! Mine didn’t want a branch from my small tree extruding less than a foot over my fence. The tree was as big around as my wrist. I removed the tree to avoid her having anything to say. A couple of years later, she moved. Her house was for sale for 9 months. A wonderful new neighbor moved in,only after getting the old owner to fix 5 things before the sale. So greatful to have the old neighbor gone & replaced with the best neighbor!🙏🏼😊💕 Will be praying that this nut moved away!!!

She does have a point. Common courtesy denotes that you would speak to the owner of the tree. And then do what the fuck want.

I'd be happy if someone else was paying for removing dead branches from my trees. Some of those had obvious rot, even holes, and it looks pretty dry. I live on a big, heavily wooded lit, and have to spend thousands every year just to keep my home safe. So yeah, I'd be happy if someone else was paying part of it. My nearest neighbors are hundreds of yards from me, and once, just once, a former neighbor went on MY property to cut down an entire 70+ foot tall tree just because of one branch hanging over his fence and back yard. I let him because I KNEW he was an angry man who's too cheap to hire professionals. Well, the idiot cut incorrectly, the whole tree fell ON his property, destroying HIS fence and even damaging his deck a bit (he built it about 60 feet from the property line). Long story short, he wanted ME to pay for tree removal AND damages he caused - so I made it clear that he was trespassing and destroying my property (the tree) and if he wishes to sue me, to go right ahead. I'd then counter with the above plus the value of a huge healthy tree that's at least 50 years old... (I have more trees than I care to count and this one was so far away from my house, as part of a wooded area where whole deer families "hide" during the day, so I couldn't care less, but I didn't say that) Nothing ever happened except him giving me dirty looks when I run into him every few years...

That is crazy! We are so lucky to have decent neighbors. One day they were trimming their trees and noticed one hanging heavily on our side of the fence. We hadn't noticed because we don't spend much time on that side of the house, it doesn't have grass so we don't even have to mow there. The neighbor came over to our place and asked if we'd mind him coming over to trim the trees hanging over onto our property. Can you imagine speaking politely to your neighbors AND offering to do the work was probably our responsibility? Thanks, neighbor! P.S. He didn't do a terribly good job of it, but we didn't mind. =)

The .cop gave bad advice. He should have recommended the lady get mental health services instead of suggesting taking the company and/or home owner to court.
