You are old school fer sure Matt. Lol. I do the same thing I look for anything that will spool onto. Yea there is lot of gadgets out there tjat do the same thing. Great video see you out there on the water
lol - sometimes old school works the best :)
Great how to video, love to get ideas from others.👍
Thanks for watching!
I'd recommend an arbor knot for attaching line to the reel. It's just a slip knot with a single overhand knot in the tag end so the line doesn't pull thru the slip knot. But if you have a kokanee that spools you and makes you depend on that last knot to save your life that would be a good day, so maybe it doesn't really matter? :-)
Gem thanks for the tip!
Great tutorial! What rod do you pair with those reels?
My goto is the Velocity Ninja Rod - bit.ly/2ZJaz3u
I don't take off all the line on the reel. I spool off 70 yds and leave the rest as backing line on a fly rod.
Would recommend this?
On my trolling baitcasters I use for trout and kokanee I only spool on 300-400 feet typically and regularly put out 100-200 ft of line. I've noticed the last bit of line that is rarely used is also worn out pretty good by the time I switch it out. The line I use is fairly inexpensive so I do a complete change every time.
That’s some cool ideas. I’m gonna order me some of that p-line. I use p-line just not that one. Will this year though.
Let me know how you like it. It’s worked well for me.
Yep good info and tutorial.
Thanks Stacy!
Thanks.
Thanks for tuning in!
