did jesse clone himself? how is he scripting/filming/editing/posting videos SO FREQUENTLY?! 🤯 i'm not complaining; i'm both impressed and a little horrified. like...is this man eating and sleeping? or is he a time traveler?
I read the Inheritance Games last year, and it was a pleasant surprise. It was very easy to read, and I couldn't put it down (I think it took me three to four days to finish and trust me, I am a slow reader). The plot and mystery were both so compelling.
Inheritance Games is a fun read-objectively 3 stars, but subjectively 5 stars! It's a face-paced story that'll get you out of the worst reading slump. Book Lovers is my all-time favorite romance! :)
watching your videos always gets me out of reading slumps. you are such a comfort creator for me and i always come back to your channel when i need book recommendations or when i want to cheer up. thank you so much for being such a good creator 🫶
Rise of the school for good and evil is pretty good and the devil is a part-timer manga is pretty good too I'm enjoying both books can't wait for July because 3 books I want come out on the same day
If you love the magical school/middle grade genre element I totally recommend The School for Good and Evil! It’s being made into a movie! It’s a semi-long series but it’s definitely worth it .. there’s a touch of everything in it like romance, etc.
If you like magical schools, you should read the Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson. I know you found The Final empire exhausting to read, but Rithmatist is way faster paced and not as long. Only caveat is that it does set up for a sequel, but we have no idea when Brandon has a time to write it, since he is busy with Cosmere.
I had such an emotionally taxing day today. Watching this put a smile on my face (and reminded me I should read the 20 books I just picked up from the thrift stores recently). Thank you immensely for your positivity and humor. 🙂
Hi Jesse!!! I used to watch your channel soo much a couple years bakc but then i kinda stopped being on booktube. Now im back and i ust wanted to say, ive missed your videos so much. They’re so joyful and you’re one of my fave creators. Ill definitely regularly start watching again, but im really happy i found this channel again!!!!
Books I’m reading right now are The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation and Heaven Officials Blessing both by the other Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. I’ve never read books like them before (maybe similar but not really). They’re very good. Ps, if you ever have watched The Untamed it came from the book series The Grandmaster if Demonic Cultivation. If you didn’t know and wanted to read them.
Ekhm, Ekhm... "City of Ghosts" by... you know? V.E Schwab? Takes place in Edinburgh 😁😁😁 I've read Book Lovers (it was her best book in my opinion - but I also can understand why some people really didn't like it, so it's just not for everybody, but I really enjoyed it). I've also read The Inheritance Games and yes - it was chaotic... I liked it but I don't feel the need to continue with that series 😉
Don’t worry too much about book lovers, I think it’s just as much family story with a little mystery as much as it is romance!!!! The romance isn’t as big of a part as it seems
I’d love to see a video where you turn around all of your unread books on your shelf and sort of talk through some opinions. Like whether or not you actually plan to read a sequel, or if you’ve heard super bad things about a book you were excited about at one point and now you’re super nervous
Weirdly, I don't remember seeing much about Book Lovers, but I did end up buying Beach Read after being inundated with it. Book Lovers was more of the vibe I'd been expecting from Beach Read. (BR is surprisingly dark. BL is more of a fun romp. (There's some serious stuff too.))
the inheritance games is my favourite book of the year along with the sequel the hawthorne legacy!! i usually don't read popular books but these are the best, they're fast-paced and have lots of plot twists 😍
Zachary Ying kind of reminds me of the anime DNAngel. With the aspect of the body being overtaken by a spirit of sorts that’s always been in the family to do a mission. I’ll have to read the book now, I’m interested.
this made me want to buy more books 🥹 but i have so many unread books on my shelf rn (close to 100) so i have to finish those first. anyway i love how your videos jesse and hope you enjoy these books
I'm really behind on catching up on videos so here's my late comment lol, but I love the new way you're displaying the books with open books behind it! That's so creative! Fun to see a new spin, and is very much admired
I’ve been on a reading drought. I started strong and read three books at the beginning of June. I bought Book Lovers the other day. Cant wait to read it! Romance is my fave. I want to read more fantasy but having a hard time getting into it.
Hi, Jesse ! Please read - "Kalki's- 'Ponni's beloved' (ka Ponniyin Selvan in Tamil) it is one of the greatest novels in Tamil ( btw it is a language from India). It's a great 'historical fiction' based on actual events and I am sure you will love it. ( And also since you have been telling that you wanted to read more translated works I thought I would tell you about this .
Breaking Time was the only one of these in the stack I recognized, but that’s because I want to read it so bad! I loved Sasha’s other books and can’t wait for what feels like such a promising solo debut.
Great Video Jesse and Happy Early Birthday yours is one day before mine my birthday is the Saturday after yours that’s cool we share the same birthday month Hope you have a wonderful birthday 🥳 and Breaking Time sounds awesome I might have to check it out once I’m done reading the many other books I have Lol 😂 Have a Fantastic Weekend Jesse 😉
I am *cackling* at the zoom in on that sensual book stroke 18:10. I'VE BEEN BUYING WAY TOO MANY BOOKS LATELY. My books and bookshelves are looking at me like, "Umm... where do you think you're going to put those?"
I recently started reading Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and I know I am very late on that train and feel like I am too old for it, but I do not care.
Cool video😊 I use a power wheelchair because I can’t walk due to my cerebral palsy, but I like to read, especially romance, fantasy or supernatural books, would love to see more books about someone like me 😊
Mannn, I really liked the Inheritance Games series (I wonder what the third will be about) but here's the thing I liked the Good Girl's Guide to Murder series way more than this I know these two books have totally different elements but still people actually recommend both of them as YA HYPED mysteries so there's that... Also Jesse mate I agree with you Booklovers is everywhere these days xD
I have not read any of these, but I'm super interested in the Inheritance Games. I've been doing this thing where I'll take a genre or whatever that I wanna read and just doing a little mini weekend readathon for it.
love how jesse says baba instead of dad, makes me as an arab (i'm egyptian) a little happy. also will definitely be looking into shad hadid cuz i like books written by mena (middle eastern and north african) authors and also its so rare to see a book mention something egyptian (the city of alexandria) and not be about ancient egypt so im really curious about how and what george jreije is gonna write about alexandria as a lebanese man
Jesse, have you heard of the book My Dark Vanessa? I’ve finished reading it and I’m still processing what I think/feel about it. I vaguely remember you saying in a video that you’d never read “Lolita” based on the plot alone- and I respect that. Personally I thought MDV had a way of almost opening Pandora’s box on this conversation. I’d be interested to know if you know anything about this book, and if so, is it something you’re actively avoiding or possibly wanting to pick up? If you did read it, I would be interested to hear your thoughts!
Hey man how's the channel I've been busy with work and sports and my own reading now it's the weekend I'm ketching up with your videos keep up the great work😁
Breaking Time is giving me [possibly-]Outlander!inspired type vibes-but that's not a bad thing, I don't think. The plot sure has me intrigued, anyhow! That cover really makes me want it; those covers from those whole previously-coauthored-situation books really make me want those ones too!!😅😸🤭🤭 🤣🤣🤣 💖🤍💜
The new covers for This Is Not The Jess Show give me like horror/thriller vibes; and, while they are cool, I personally feel slightly less compelled to pick them up looking at them. (I know literally nothing about the book-just giving my unsolicited cover impressions here, for no particular real reason! 😘😏😋😋 🤣) The old covers give me, like, reality TV / gameshow vibes; like those reality tv shows where people live in a closed room/'house' type set or whatever whilst undertaking some kind of a "challenge" or such((but also bizarrely like some old stripclub/bar type vibes because of the way the title font looks like one those /neon/electric signs you might see outside those places)); and for some reason actually makes me a little curious to actually pick the book up and see what it's actually even about or not. Loll
based on the description you gave of this is not the jess show, it sounds like a movie i really like called the truman show! just a recommendation for you if you want something similar :)
I haven't watched the video yet! But hell yes i will guess one of the books! I am pretty sure somewhere in the middle my eye caught the house in the cerulean sea! :P
You sound a lot like me, about the Romance genre, only that was like 14+ years ago. 🤣🤣🤣 Growing up, I was very much not a fan of the romance genre, unless it was subplot in some other genre of story. But, somehow....eventually, I discovered I actually kinda don't so much mind the Romance genre even by itself at all. I would rather read a Romance novel than have an actual romance myself...like, I can be super happy for other-people/fictional-characters in romances, but me [myself ]I just don't personally gravitate toward the idea of being in romantic &/or smexy situations myself 98.9% of the time. (Which is weird, because I am happily also not single.😅😅👀🙃😁🤔🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣 ssoo, idekk. -I'm graysexual, what do you want from me.) LOLL Probably oversharing, way more information than anybody actually cares, but oh well!! 😊😊
That’s okay on being late to The Inheritance Games party, the final book is out in August soooo perfect time to pick it up. 😄
This is SUCH GOOD NEWS!

I loved inheritance games!! I am also excited for book lovers!! Have loved every book Emily has written so far
I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump and Jesse’s content helped me trim my TBR and now I’m back 😤
Happy early birthday then! I love your videos!

eeep I also am super looking forward to reading the zachary ying book AND rebel skies looks so exciting:))))
The Inheritance Games is like if Clue and Knives Out had a baby and raised it in an escape room
Exciting book haul Jesse. I’m looking forward to reading breaking time !! ❤️ 😊
Honestly I love inheritance games it gave me a ya knives out vibe
the inheritance games is my favourite book of the year along with the sequel the hawthorne legacy!! i usually don't read popular books but these are the best, they're fast-paced and have lots of plot twists 😍

Yes I see Book Lovers in my feeds.
Middle grade fiction is so pure! 😇
you talking about the inheritance game was very entertaining and relatable lol
I am *cackling* at the zoom in on that sensual book stroke 18:10.
I'VE BEEN BUYING WAY TOO MANY BOOKS LATELY. My books and bookshelves are looking at me like, "Umm... where do you think you're going to put those?"
The inheritance game sounds like Knives out
Family gets nothing and the outsider gets everything and they hate that person
I just got The Inheritance Games in the mail and I am SOOO excited to dive in!!
Oh Breaking Time sounds right up my alley! Especially since I love Outlander
It’s not the first book you read set in Scotland. Pretty sure you read V’s City of Ghosts (middle grade). That was Edinburgh, Scotland.
I recently started reading Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and I know I am very late on that train and feel like I am too old for it, but I do not care.
Im guessing the first one on the stack is the Sea of Tranquility just by looking at the pages
I was wrong lol
Aah, now I want to read a bunch more middle grade too! Damn it! I have too many books to read already 😂
Cool video😊 I use a power wheelchair because I can’t walk due to my cerebral palsy, but I like to read, especially romance, fantasy or supernatural books, would love to see more books about someone like me 😊

book lovers was great!
a good middle grade series is michael vey by richard paul
I'm waiting to read Book Lovers until August since it starts in August and that is my birthday month
I loved Book Lovers so much! I was worried it was overhyped but I was wrong
Great book haul Jesse! 😎👍💯📚☕
I need to know where you keep all these books because you literally don't have any room on your bookshelves 😭

I haven't watched the video yet! But hell yes i will guess one of the books! I am pretty sure somewhere in the middle my eye caught the house in the cerulean sea! :P
OH.. I WAS SO OFF! Okay now you can ignore my comment, that's so embarrassing!! 😂
Argh I’m so upset that you were wrong. I would love a Jessie review of it, I think he’d love it!
