- He was listed at 5’10”, but was probably shorter yet even at such a small height for a professional basketball player he was an NBA starter for over a decade and was keeping up with the stars of the game when he first entered the league. But Damon Stoudamire was a star from the beginning as he led Woodrow Wilson high school to two state championships before teaming with guys like Sean Rooks, Chris Mills and Khalid Reeves at the university of Arizona to help lead the Wildcats to 4 straight tournament appearances including a trip to the Final Four in 1994. He was one of the top player’s in the NCAA by the end of his career as he would be named a Consensus First Team All-American as a senior.
He would then become the first draft pick in the history of the Toronto Raptors before Vince Carter or Chris Bosh; and he would go on to win NBA Rookie of the year and then follow it up with a sophomore season where he averaged over 20 points per game. He could have been part of something special in Toronto as they were building through the draft with guys like Marcus Camby and Tracy McGrady, but after general manager Isiah Thomas resigned it all fell apart, but he would get to go home and play for his local Portland Trailblazers where he would be the team’s starting point guard on some initially great team’s that would make the conference finals in back to back years featuring players like Rasheed Wallace, Arvydas Sabonis, Steve Smith and Scottie Pippen. But they wouldn’t be able to get over the hump and Stoudamire had a tendency to disappear come playoff time. The early 2000s would be the more infamous years of Portland basketball as the team would often be referred to as the “Jail Blazers” and Stoudamire would play a part in that as well. And Although he would never repeat his individual success from Toronto or team success from his first years in Portland, he was still a serviceable starter for the team for close to a decade and would then transition into a more of a veteran presence during stints with the Grizzlies and Spurs to end his career.
His best years came and went quickly, and he always struggled with efficiency and shot selection, but in his prime he was lightning quick and super exciting and doing what he did in the NBA at his height made it all the more impressive, so today we’re going to take a look at the career of Mighty Mouse, Damon Stoudamire; let’s jog your memory.

Facts bruh. His content is needed. Almost a “what happened to” kinda format. How many of us knew anything about stoudamires career? I’ll answer, 1 of us. Him. 😂😂😂
Damon was a class act. If youve spent any amount of time around him youd know how humble of a guy he is. He always gave back to his hometown . He was cool to eveyone. Dont have a bad word to say about him
I knew when I saw,The Marcus Camby and Rod Strickland videos Damon Stoudemire was not far behind. Great vide Bro
Isiah Thomas was murdering the draft as GM of Toronto
Facts! And to think he nearly drafted Kevin Garnett to the Raptors had Timberwolves GM, Kevin McHale, not called Isiah prior to draft night to ask about the high school prospect
Stoudemire, jimmy king, Marcus Camby and then capped it all off with Tracy Mcgrady and he was also the one who traded for the draft pick that became Vince Carter in 1999. He just really sucked at trades lmfao and too bad that didn’t carry over to the shit show he inherited with the knicks.
'95 Damon Stoudamire
Stoudamire got paid and stopped grinding. Also, I think defenders kinda figured his game out some.
I'd like to see a video on Jason Richardson
Salute to Damon Stoudamire aka mighty mouse
Travis Best was so much like Damon Stoudemire
As a pacers fan you smoking crack
he was the assistant coach of the Boston Celtics, but left early before the playoffs last year after getting a job for Georgia Tech’s men’s basketball team I think if he was still there when the Celtics started their playoff Ryan it would’ve helped Joe because he would’ve had veteran assistance in his corner
Heavy.
In 1995, Mekhi Phifer wore Damon's Arizona uniform in Spike Lee's movie Clockers.
Stoudemire was Nice.
Yup back in the 90's college apparel was considered fly in the streets their were hella rappers who rocked college jerseys, hoodies, snapbacks, etc.
yeah I remember
I couldn’t wait for this one !!! One of my favorite players . One of blazer finest players went an watched him play when I was a child
He was so good and underrated
You should do Corey Maggette, Al Jefferson and emeka okafor
This is definitely one of my favorite UA-cam basketball channels, you should former number 1 pick Joe Smith
This is great man! Brings back so many memories
I remember so many players around that time getting suspended like Sprewell and Weatherspoon
I don’t normally like videos but I’ve made it my life’s mission to like each one of these that I watch. You fill a void in bb history and some of these names I had forgotten. Thanks brudda✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
Yess, thank you!! Another one of my past videos mentions, Mighty Mouse was really one of the most underrated pg during that era. Back then I thought he and the Jail Blazers were gonna win chips. Would be cool if you did one of Big Country, which was considered the other expansion "star"
all your vids are incredible!!!!!
Mad love to this channel for this. I'm a big mighty mouse fan.
Anybody remember Travis Outlaw?
I remember maxing out his character in video games to be a beast 💪🏻 bcuz I thought he had the best name in the game 😂
Mighty mouse was a problem
Yes
We're old now😢😢😢 damn
He was a whole problem
Please do Brevin Knight. I rarely see anybody talk about him
I saw him at The Stanford Summer Basketball Camp.He was a dedicated player. knight and Cross
@@kincamell one of my favorite players of all time. Comes across as a really nice man too
Wow, that is a name I have not heard in a LONG time lol
When I played NBA2k5 I used to trade for him or either start a team with the Bobcats for some reason. Knight could pass tf outta the ball 🔥 Solid Point Guard
@@poindextertunes he was a really good point guard, and could defend very well despite his lack of height. Always missed the reliable outside shot, if he had that, would be lethal.
@@poindextertunes one time I was high on shroooms and somehow ended up watching one of his games. Don’t ask me how I ended up there. Is just one of those high moments that you navigate through some random shit while wasted 😭😭
I love this channel bro. That music in the background is fire!!!!! Will you please do a video on Ben Wallace?
Keep it coming
Thank you
Now he is a sweet azz guard that nobody talks about! Good video!
I love the jail blazers. Grew up in Tigard/West Linn aka portland suburbs. My dad took me to several games when i was 7-11 and i saw The Mighty Mouse get swatted by KG. Blazers still won the game, tyfys Damon!
DAMON STOUDAMIRE is my G.O.A.T
He diminished as soon as he got paid a load of money, what a surprise.
in that one WCF , 6'7 kobe had to defend damon and was literally getting broke damn near every possession lmao shit looked brutal. not even on some bad defense shit , it was crazy how easily hed get separation wit that crossover then first step
Im going to patiently wait for Anthony Mason episode because I know it's coming
Hometown hero 🌹
I wonder is The Isaiah Rider video coming soon after The Shawn Marion and Larry Johnson videos?
Jr rider da best posture guard
1st saw da Matrix late at night on UNLV when I was in hs
I meant postup
Got some suggestions: Nick van Axel. Eddie Jones. Michael Finley. Marcus Camby. Brent Barry. Rasheed Wallace and some others.🤔🤔
Busted for a gram of weed in Washington State sounds preposterous in 2023
Could you also do a video on Arvydas Sabonis or Brian Grant? They were some of the best big men in that era of blazers basketball, but their careers were either short-lived, or overlooked
The Lakers is that boy Kryptonite
My Patna was a savage out the womb.
My bad u already did my favorite pf Rasheeeeeed Wallaaaace. 😂😂
going thru a metal detector at an airport with weed in aluminum foil has to be a face palm moment, for anyone......
The infamous jailblazers.
Wow thanks for this as a youngster I used to be a huge fan my friends laughed at me😂 till I copied his dribbling style one summer and dominated my PAL league ha 💪🏾🤣
LETS GOO JEFF RULAND
Disregarded Duos:
1.Melo & A.i 🏔⚒️
2. Nash & Stoudemire☀️
3. Yao & T-Mac 🚀
4.Derozan & Lowry 🦖
He had a terrible attitude when he was younger. Could ball out for sure, but good for him for realizing early that he wasn’t built for superstardom hence the trade request
He did not look happy drafted by the Raptors. What, the fans wanted Ed O'Bannan? Little did we all know.
please do corey maggette next
Brian Grant
Mighty Mouse
Can you do REX CHAPMAN NEXT..
THANKS
Who do you think was faster in the fast break Damon or iverson I remember when the Portland Trail Blazers had to play the Lakers. Kobe was guard damon because derek fisher couldn't Guard him was too fast

I remember that whole thing with Isiah Thomas..
2:54 dude looks like Jordan
How about
Scott skiles
Who is that
Magic point guard 89-94, but he's been on a lot of teams but he's most known for his time in Orlando, he has the single game assists record
@@baconeggcheesepodcast939030 assists in a single game. He still holds the record
Dawg
IT V1
You should do videos on Bonzi Wells, Lamar Odom, Pau Gasol, and/or Mike Bibby.
VanFleet vibes
RONY SEIKALY?
if Damon was the 1st player of the franchise, where did the other players come from to build a team?
Expansion draft
wow terrible no call by refs - they screwed smith and blazers
Yeah they did
i thought he shoulda stayed in Toronto. He was never the same player in Portland
Big misconception it hasn't been illegal to smoke weed since the 90s it was illegal to possess more than a certain amount be caught selling or growing but smoking has been legal for over 30 years just not while driving cars when weed is no different than cigarettes to an actual smoker
damon stoudamire was average and the 99 and 00 blazers were SEMI elite and nowhere NEAR as elite as the REAL elite 77 90 91 and 92 blazers led by stars bill walton and clyde drexler
Just dont understand why when things get tough and or your coach or someone you were cool with leaves or gets fired, the damn player wants a trade! He should have stuck it out for a little while longer, hell with Damion, tracy,Camby and Carter. They definitely would have made some noise!!!
ECF or NBA champs
