England's group in euro 2024 was the worst major tournament group since england's group in 1990 world cup which was more or less exactly the same - england topped the group due to a 1-0 win against Egypt, and every other game was either a 0-0 or 1-1 draw.
ALL of Portugal's goals were either own goals or insane rival brainfarts. Heck, in their third against Turkey, *two* defenders slipped simultaneously while breaking the offside...

It was brilliant , Turkey , Holland, switzerland and a others made it exciting ... then the luck went to the "big" nations. But Spain ... they did not need any luck , they were relentless, skilled, daring ... pure genius, germany tried , france tried, italy tried but they were not good enough. Trying to say it was poor is a jab at the Spanish victory.

EURO 2020 was farrrrrrr better honestly.
@bushwacker4262 There was something like 25 more goals scored at Euro 2020 than 24. That was England's best chance too.
Only Spain, the Netherlands, Turkey, Georgia get out of it with some credit. Most team did barely ok, nothing more. England, France, Portugal got the results but were really poor.
@@bjornjonsson7037 I loved watching Georgia. I supported them every time they played. Imagine if France had beaten Spain and made the final despite barely doing anything 🤣
overall it was a good tournament for the smaller team and a poor tournament for the big teams; except for Spain, which saved the tournament in the end

But for me, as a spaniard was the best ever. Focused on my team, i didnt really cared for them other teams, I was too busy enjoying the FREAKING CHAMPAGNE FOOTBALL that my fellow countrymen were delivering for us at each game.

@@KiyanC they were utterly terrible. I thought VAR was meant to reduce the level of refereeing errors when it came in!
much tougher part....where? italy and croatia were dreadful depsite their big name, so was france. spain had only germany as a real team to play., so did england with the dutch. i know its not fitting the narrative on hating on the english but bias is gettin kinda laughable

@@GamingBlomp what makes a tourney great? we saw that nations like switzerland, austria and other can give the big boys a run for their money and the gap is closing because those nation figuring out how to take them down. thats a great thing to see, even when their playstyle isnt flamboyant or based soley on offensiv tactics.
@jimmyjohnson3955 I agree to an extent. At this tournament, I feel like it was more a case of the 'bigger' teams not performing rather than the smaller teams raising their game. Spain were good but were they anywhere near as good as their 2008 or 2012 winning squad? I don't think so 🤷♂️
@@GamingBlomp spain won the world cup by scoring 4 goals in the whole knockout stage, its not gettin more woeful than this. same goes for portugal and their winning euro-campaign ;-)
i disgaree that the raise of "small" teams is soley the product of bigger teams not performing. the landscape is shifting and almost all small nations have legit star(s) in their squad and/or many players who play abroad and are important figures in their clubs.
lets take the swiss again, they can legit take on any team on a good day and win without luck. doin it 3-4 times in a row in the knockouts and and get blessed with a small portion of luck (like england and spain had this years euro) , thats what seperate them now from the big boys.
@jimmyjohnson3955 I think the difference is that the 2010 World Cup still had a lot of teams performing to a high standard (even with the weird ball floating around 🤣). Portugal definitely benefited from an easier path in 2016, but you could still pick out several decent sides from that tournament. I just don't feel like the standards are as high as they used to be - Even the Swiss looked better in the last Euros! That game against France 👌
To be honest, i think there was some good and boring games in this tournament. As an England fan, we played like crap the whole tournament so i have no clue how we got to the final 😅 but in my opinion, i think euro 2020 was better.
@Luke86811 definitely think 2020 was better. England missed a glorious opportunity to win it at Wembley!
Spain were way ahead of anyone else this time around.

It was a terrible, England had no business being in the final playing Football like that but Football has declined massively in the last decade, that's why England are starting to get to finals because this one of the worst eras of Football

For Germany it was a desaster! Once again defeated and relegated. Once again France, England, Netherlands and Spain were much more successful.
