Minor correction, TS glitch actually doesn't increase damage, but instead stops the health refill inbetween rounds. Funny thing is this isn’t even the worst. It’s actually kinda funny to watch matches, where there’s one interaction followed by about one minute of intense button mashing as the guy tries to keep his opponent in the combo.
Even Kahn, who has like 5 good moves (one is meant for whiffing) can do a touch of death. Dash 2a into 2a is a frame perfect infinite. I'm sure its difficult to edit a video and know how long text needs to be on the screen and there is certainly a bias of how easy it is to read the text if you are the one writing it, but when you are watching a video for the first time fresh, the brain is doing double duty comprehending both the text and video and putting them both together. My guess as to what causes the time stop glitch is that it stops the health regen between rounds, so you're essentially just leaving them on a pretty small sliver of health. I'm guessing that either "taking damage" part ends up disabling the rest of the heal, or it's only programmed to "heal" for a certain time, which is over by the time the time stop ends.
Every now and then I see these videos, how come you never treated All Star Battle R ? In Europe it's still pretty much played if you like Jojo. The characters are pretty unique even for a fairly large roaster.

Recently found your channel, love the vids, especially these hftf ones. Keep up thw good work
AFAIK the only reason the best finisher of JY's rekka does a hard knockdown after a combo is because at that point, it triggers the built in infinite prevention that is very strangely coded - if triggered, it changes the resulting attack to become a hard knockdown to stop your combo. The way it knows to trigger the infinite prevention is coded on a move to move basis. IIRC it depends on if your combo either plainly uses a move that's coded to trigger it, or if the combo starts with it, I don't remember. It's a wack thing to play around, but kinda cool that people figured out that you just need to do certain combos to set up the rekka knockdown always, a weird kind of knowledge check
To clarify, a move used within a combo triggers a flag that makes combo drop after a certain amount of hits, (about 8?) and only a specific set of moves are coded to flag the combo with IPS. (infinite prevention system) I think the code, apart from being enabled on certain moves, is controlled by RNG. It's really quite interesting. And yes, there are combo loops with no IPS flagged moves. I just find it interesting that there's a character whose bread and butter combos require you to set up the finisher to trigger IPS, and it's completely consistent.
you should have mentioned dio rekka installs where doing a completely unrelated move lets you confirm one of the most useful supers in the game off of one of the most useful specials in the game
Might want to check the editing or pacing a little, there's multiple moments where the video transitions so fast to the next part that you don't have time to read all the texts, 12:12 being the most egregious (Line of text up for a fraction of a second).
I always thought the time stop glitch wasn't dramatically increasing damage, it was freezing the enemy's health bar at 0 and thus making it so a single hit instantly killed them, since the super freezes the enemy's health bar until it finishes.
Bit of feedback on the vid, some text go away way too fast i had to watch the entire vid without paying attention to the game because i would miss the text
Fun fact: The Time Stop Glitch doesn't actually increase your damage drastically. What's really going on is that the opponent's health hasn't gone back up all of the way. Visually, the game shows that your health fully recovers before the "Fight!" graphic shows up, but the Time Stop prevents your health from going up or down until after the Time Stop is over. If you want proof of this, perform the glitch, but don't kill your opponent. Just let the Time Stop drain your meter. Once time resumes, the opponent should only have a small amount of health left. I forgot which video I saw that confirmed this, but I'll link it in the replies of this comment when I find it.
So, I couldn't find the proper video, but if you look closely at 1:14 in this video, you'll see that Jotaro immediately activates Time Stop and blocks DIO's attack. I theorize that the reason that Kakyoin was made so strong is because the devs knew they had to do him dirty in the story mode so they threw him a bone
As broken as this game is, it's incredibly fun to watch. If capcom ever does a followup, I doubt they will exclude characters from parts 4 till present however....which means the roster will be pretty massive.
question: when did Kakyoin start being agreed to be better than pet shop I ask because even in the mid 00's before I had ever heard of JJBA or ever seen a fighting game besides maybe a tekken machine at a pizza hut, I had heard distant internet rumblings of Pet Shop being "the most OP character in any fighting game" or something like that
I admit that I actually like watching Petshop, even though that character is so fucking stupid. Incredible zoning, incredible rushdown, AND incredible movement should never be on the same character.
While the info in these kinds of vids is always interesting, the original smash videos were better about not giving you too much to read at once, so you could quickly get back to watching the video. Maybe the next Capcom collection will have this game with it. Hopefully along with Alpha 2 Gold, Alpha 3 max and the EX series.
I havent played this in a good 11-12 years and that was a single run as old Joseph before i even knew what this series was. Are there really two A buttons?
No, AA is just used in super notation to indicate that you need to press two buttons to use them
I theorize that the reason that Kakyoin was made so strong is because the devs knew they had to do him dirty in the story mode so they threw him a bone
As broken as this game is, it's incredibly fun to watch. If capcom ever does a followup, I doubt they will exclude characters from parts 4 till present however....which means the roster will be pretty massive.
Looks fun
question: when did Kakyoin start being agreed to be better than pet shop
I ask because even in the mid 00's before I had ever heard of JJBA or ever seen a fighting game besides maybe a tekken machine at a pizza hut, I had heard distant internet rumblings of Pet Shop being "the most OP character in any fighting game" or something like that
Never forget how Kakyoin never hit an emerald splash but it’s one of the best projectiles in the game LOL
amazing
This Kakyojin should've fought dio in stardust crusaders
GuileWin-coded and I love it
OH ON GOD?
Can you do a video on Rubber Soul/Yellow Temperance? Hes an awesome character and I don't see anyone talk about him enough
I admit that I actually like watching Petshop, even though that character is so fucking stupid. Incredible zoning, incredible rushdown, AND incredible movement should never be on the same character.
Honestly, same. I find him more fun to watch than kyak, even though both are banned characters.
No one can deflect the emerald splash 😔
I gotta put some more time in this game
gotta say, i miss the time when we got broken games
While the info in these kinds of vids is always interesting, the original smash videos were better about not giving you too much to read at once, so you could quickly get back to watching the video. As these kinds of videos get wordier and more complex i gotta rewind a lot or read really freakin fast throughout. Personally I think sf4 is broken (not one of your vids) was really bad about this.
Sorry to complain, otherwise this is really informative
Just downloaded this game and have no idea what I'm doing lmao
Is the time stop glitch at round end tournament legal?
Yes
Your text captions go away too soon. They're difficult to read without pausing.
