Dude, I was worried there for a bit, but you rocked it by the end. It kinda reminded me of how I felt when I saw the first-gen X5 for the first time: oh, wow... that actually works. That works really well. Cheers!
I really appreciate that. That should've been made. You should make a New Chrysler Suv. Maybe a new Aspen, 200 Suv, Compact SUV. Something that would save the Chrysler brand
I had an old 240 estate many years ago, it was perfect for what I wanted, i ran a mechanics business out of the back of that thing, you could get every tool you needed in it including engine cranes, and engine stands, axle stands, hydraulic jacks, ramps, and all my tools as well, it had a tow var fitted which i could plug into to use as a jump start or battery charger, the tailgate was just lovely to work under, even in the rain with some side screens i cobbled together from bits of an old tent, it always started it, always stopped, and it even came with a CD player, and all for £300, what a car :).
I would love to see the M715 front end conversion placed on Jeep’s first 3rd row vehicle: The 05-10 Jeep Commander. It deserves a more aggressive front end, and the Commander being a large SUV close in proportions to the J-platform Cherokees and Wagoneers, to have a more retro inspired front clip would do wonders for the feel of the SUV
Here’s a challenge for you. My family was a Saab family, not a Volvo family like yours. My first “car experience” is when my dad borrowed a light green SAAB 99 turbo. I would love to see you transform that into a modern car, but still keep the heritage of the original SAAB 99. Something like what Singer does with the 911
I juz got a sick idea from this vid. Make a retromodern xc90 take inspiration of the 240 then make it into a suv(that's what u did now) and modernize it.
The end result is basically a raised Morris Ital Estate. For those outside the UK, that’s a make-do-and-mend British Leyland car of the early ‘80s, based on the earlier Morris Marina.
Redesigning the not so known (in the US) Nissan Micra k12 into a modern suv or a sportscar, could be a nice video. The k12 is often looked down on, because of its cute, girly face, but i think they nailed the design, and made a very loveable car. My family has owned a k12 since 2005, and we are in love with its shape, while people on the internet say that it looks like an ugly frog. It would be interesting to see the responses of those people who see the k12 micra for the first time. :)
Similar idea to what i had. Im in the process of building an 04 S60 XC. I want it to look as if it was a production model of the era with elements from the xc70. Will be using R front bumber with some modifications, xc70 fender flares, and xc70 and s60 rear bumper grafted together. Already lifted about 4" on 27" ATs, turbo swapped, fmic, injectors, intake, exhaust and a few other things. Now to the exterior design elements
Imagine if Volvo actually made an SUV back in the 80's I genuinely think that it might have been a huge success, especially in the States. They did have suitable engines for the purpose back in the 80's, with the B23ET (173 HP - 250 N-m) and the D24TIC diesel (122 HP - 235 N-m). They could even have modernized the B30E and turbocharged it, as a top of the range option, with around 230-240 HP and around 350 N-m of torque, giving the car a proper sporty feel and good acceleration (for the time), and being a turbocharged 6-cylinder, it could have been a real alternative to the gas-guzzling V8 SUV's of the time, being way more efficient. Gearbox options could have been the same as for the normal 240's of the 80's, with a 4-speed gearbox as standard, but 5-speed and 4+Overdrive being options too. The 4-speed ZF automatic gearbox could also have been an option. Being an SUV, 4-wheel drive would have almost been required. Maybe with a low-range gearbox and a drive mode selector as well (RWD or 4WD), like many other offroad-capable cars had at the time. I think the names XC-60 or XC-80 would have made the most sense for a more up-market SUV, and it would fit the naming scheme well, since at the time, the 60 and 80 designations was given to the more luxurious versions of the normal cars. Maybe the cheapest base model could have been given the name XC-40, and it would have the weaker engines, a base level interior design, and only coming with rear-wheel drive. Premium features as optional extras Then the XC-60 would get more premium features and 4WD as standard, with more powerful engine options available. This would have been the best-selling model in my opinion. And lastly, the XC-80 would get the highest level of features, with power-everything, the most powerful engine, and a full leather interior, as well as all the bells and whistles that makes a top of the range model, and of course a fitting styling pack, that gives it the rough SUV look.
I've had my 88 240 for almost 8 years now! I paid $75 for it. It has almost 700,000 miles and I drive it every day! Just last week, a deer ran out in front of me, I ran up on the curb and got loose. The rear end hit a road sign post and ripped the bumper off. I got out, collected the bumper and came home. The next day, I was looking at it and said... Shit, I can just put this right back on... So I did!!! Tuff as hell
I dunno if you can do something like this - but could you some how design a car in the medieval era? Wooden wheels, armoured side panel etc. Gotta get a bit creative - but it would be interesting to see haha
Ain't this the car Walter White used in Breaking Bad is S5E15 Granite Slate in the end? He switched cars in Felina, but the Volvo got him close to Alberquerque.
Hey Sketch, can you add people to your redesign so we get a better sense of scale? I think it would really add something to your work, especially these body style conversions like sedan to suv.
I have a suggestion for you, just redesign any car from MERCOSUR (you´ll find some things like the Chevrolet Agile, Spin) or something like the Toyota Etios
I just clicked through the vid so maybe you mentioned it but theres a video of a two door wagon Volvo 164 suv on youtube that supposedly a guy at Volvo built at the factory to try to get them to actually make a model like that.
What if the 1992 Chevy Lumina APV existed today? The original was designed to look like the space shuttle, so it would be interesting to see how you would interpret that in modern day.
Dude! That wasn't stupid at all. I've never imagined that Volvo as an SUV, but it totally works. It doesn't look out of place one bit. I had an old junky 240 in 2004 and would have loved it if it would have been an SUV. Nice job ________ ! (what is your name by the way?)
Who wants to transform a saloon/sedan 244 into a SUV? Why not do it from a 145 Express, the version adapted for distribution of newspaper? It already have a SUV look with raised roof, a tiny rooffrack. Just adapt it to 4wd and you have a usable offroader. 😅 What's good with these cars is spare parts prices and the numbers sold in Sweden, plus rugability. I rebuilt a few 140 cars in the 80's because of rust damage, and improved a few things i didn't like.
Interesting... I think the wagon would be the logical starting point though... Isn't the sedan's passenger-side c-pillar still showing through the driver's side window??
I think you could have solved the “minivan effect” by making the windows a bit taller and less high added to the door/body... think Isuzu trooper or Range Rover from the time.
How about something done to the great Volvo P1800, I don't know nor care what modifications, maybe modernization or perhaps for a bit more of a challenge in making it a sedan??
What if BMW made an 80's hatch? A combo please of the e30 coupe and wagon made into a hatchback that would be awesome

How high do we want to have it?
Yes
We need a redesign of the Subaru Baja if it was made in 2021🔥
Yes!! Such a cool car... truck... thing?
I second this
@@calebnewton_ . I think a Baja is a UTE. We need a new Baja or a Brat
This would be stupid as hell, but try making the Humvee into a sedan. It'll look dumb, but lets face it, that would be the point of doing it, haha.
OMG yes, so much yes, GÖR DET NU! ;)
'Nother vote from me on this one. I'd love to see that.
**please like so he reads this** Make a Gaz-21 series 3 into a retro SUV. i have been asking for a long time.

this redesign is gorgeous

Ps. This really needs to happen. Like if you agree

This is one of the best redesigns you have done
When the new rims came on... *chef’s kiss*
It has definitely some Range Rover feelings, nice!
I simply adore this! Best re-design for a while, it looks so right!
i hate SUV's with passion, but i would proudly drive this one. One of your best work ever
Liking 30 seconds into the video because the videos are always top quality
It look like a 80’s cullinan😂👌🏽😍
Take a look at the VCC as well, it's built on the 745 as an early showcar before the 700-series was unveiled. It already looks a lot like this.
This looks so good! I love how it turned out.
Utmaning! Designa en SAAB V4 så dom den skulle sett ut idag! Typ en 60-talare eller liknande. 👌🏼
You don't need to, it's already perfect
Edit: honestly that's pretty sick
This is amazing. How about a Toyota Sequoia 80's version?
This thing is dope. I’d love to see this same vehicle with updated graphics. I think it would be tough as hell.
What I imagine that would look like is to me is what a Volvo SUV should look like
Excelent redesign! It's more like an V90 Cross Country so a crossover IMHO not a full blown SUV. But then again, it looks better this way
This was really fun to watch
Wait, zero views? That can't be possible with a video video of the sketchmonkey!
My dad used to have 245 diesel! Really a tank! Roomy and reliable!

Looks really good. Makes me think of a Swedish version of a period Jeep Wagoneer.
Please show us what a modernized Volvo 240 wagon would look like!! 😍
Great transformation! I would love for you to consider taking the civic prototype design cues and apply them to a CRV prototype.
Here’s a challenge for you.

What if the LFA was launched 25 years earlier 🤔
Wait. Wouldn't that just be the Mark III Supra? Or a Lexu-fied version of it?
SC430 with a kit.
The end result is basically a raised Morris Ital Estate.
For those outside the UK, that’s a make-do-and-mend British Leyland car of the early ‘80s, based on the earlier Morris Marina.
If Volvo did make a 240 SUV as an old school 4x4 SUV/truck, I would totally buy one
Vilken tuffing XC240 den blev, bra jobbat 👍
Redesigning the not so known (in the US) Nissan Micra k12 into a modern suv or a sportscar, could be a nice video.

Very fun. I'd like to see taller grill and headlights to sell the beefcake upgrade status from a wagon.
Now I want to see the rally version of the 242 updated.
I surprised you didn’t start with a picture of the 240 wagon.
Liked the video without even completely watching
Very nice 240 but i think it should be shorter. Honestly i will buy it directly if it was possible. Long or short. Great job👍
Why did you make a Volvo into a stretch lada! . great work
