snorkeling by Playa Del Carmen Mexico

We took a snorkeling excursion from Sandos Playacar, (lucked out cause it was discounted from $40 to $25 US per person) we went about 15 - 29 minutes south to a quiet shallow bay just past Xcaret Park and had one of the best tour snorkeling experiences. Good variety of fish, shallow water and nice reef.

+kmattorney We took a tour from Sandos Resort in Playacar, the location is about 10 min south of the resort, it's also the same reef used by other resorts and Xcaret. I am not sure of the reefs name...Snorkeling right from the beach at Akumal is also a great option, you can do it self guided, so just go and do it or there are people right there who will take small groups out. You can see things like sea turtles, rays, barracuda and other tropical reef fish...We have videos on UA-cam where Cindy did the self guided swim and saw 3 turtles and many fish. Resorts with good beach snorkeling for reef and fish are Barcelo and Grand Sirenis , Bahia Principe has some good snorkeling in man made reefs...

what was the tour company name? I plane on staying in down town Playa Del Carmen,,and was thinking it might be cheeper to not book online and wait to see what is available their..
