Max is the GOAT, family company that started out in a small town north of the arctic circle with a population of less than 10 000.
Also Max and McDonalds have the same wings, but they're better at Max, they're more moist and have a better flavor to them, probably due to a different oil being used for frying them.

Max is our pride and joy in fast food, mc donalds is the "3 in the morning pissdrunk heading home from the bar"-joint. Burger king is the "whenever i want to taste something grilled during the winter since its too cold to do it myself"-place, and max is the "whenever ive got my paycheck and feel boujee"-deal

@@DoesntPayFullPrice Dunno if its true anymore but Max used to be the only fastfood chain in the world that managed to run a rival Mcdolands into bankrupcy and had to leave the city.
The key word for me is "fresh" taste, which makes Max the winner by far.
The "Swedish" recipe for better burgers is tasty sauces (instead of just ketchup/mustard that will be the case in many countries - with optional plain mayo) .

@@PontidenvresigeWhat do you mean with dirty? If you're talking about how messy it can be inside restaurants, blame it on certain customers. The staff at Max try to keep everything clean, but when there's an unexpected rush of people, it's hard to keep the place clean AND push orders out quickly. It's a fine line between efficacy and maintenance at times.
Some interesting things that might confuse Americans going to a Swedish McDonald's:
The soda on the receipt will show as size L/M/S on the receipt, which is not Large/Medium/Small, that's Swedish Liten/Mellan/Stor (ie. opposite order). Also a Swedish large coke is about same size as an American small size. So if you buy a large coke, you get a small US size, and it will say "Coke S" on the receipt 😆

@@DoesntPayFullPrice Haha yep, sizes are 250/400/500ml, or 8.5/13.5/16.9oz. Kinda interesting that the smallest in US is 16oz in comparison.
Our blueberries are actually called bilberries outside sweden. They are a lot different compared to US blueberries.

Seeing Sweden is like one city in the US population wise, are there any nation wide burger restaurants/franchise in the US which aren't in other nations too (like McDonald's and Burger King) And was the menu at McDonad's & Burger King the same in Sweden as in USA or did it have variations?
You guys also invented teleportation, Sweden to Iceland in the blink of an eye. That's impressive and should be worthy of a Nobel prize!
I've only been to Max Burger in Sweden once but as they say first impressions are everything and their burgers were excellent. A 10 out of 10! I'm so used to McDonald's and Burger King so Max was a refreshing experience.

For the veggie stuff you really have to go to Max. Fresh produce and great variety of vegan options.

Max Hamburgare is the better alternative usually. It costs a bit more but you get Swedish ingredients (meat especially so you know animals have been slaughtered cruelty free) and generally its just higher quality food. Their milkshakes are insane too.

I love MAXs chicken sandwiches. The chicken is hella crispy and the parmesan added so much to that one. A little bit spice, nice crispy chicken and veggies and the parm slices. Got me craving it now. Maybe i should just take a little walk over to max for one 😂

Fun to watch, not least since your hotel is just opposite my office. As for the Västerbotten cheese sticks, it is a cheese from the Västerbotten region of Sweden. It is a hard cow's milk cheese with tiny holes and a firm and granular texture. Strong in flavour, its taste is described as somewhat like Parmesan cheese, salty, but with more bitter notes. The Västerbotten cheese pie has become something of a staple among the treats for Easter, Midsummer, crayfish and Christmas in Sweden.

I’m from the USA and come visit my son and his family in Sweden most every year I’m here now and in the 12 years I’ve been coming I haven’t had and US fast food Max makes really good burgers etc so I just go there My son says he still does McDonald’s every once in a blue moon

If you guys still are in Stockholm, then please google for top 10 burgers in sweden. The number one burger is located nearby Stockholm, in a suburb and its a food truck. However be there in time because the lines are supposed to be very long.

Max is the best fast food in Sweden. And probably the best of the brands you have on the table everywhere in the world.
Based on what I tried, I would say that is true in my experience
The cinnamon tastes like real cinnamon, because it is real cinnamon.
Love the cinnamon that is not diluted with sugar like here in the states

Never heard anyone say a Kanelbulle has a "hot" taste, maybe they had a bit too much cinnamon in it. Or they just put way too much sugar in the US version. While there is a fair bit of suggar in a kanelbulle, it's not supported to overpower the main ingredient, the cinnamon. We also don't glaze them with melted sugar as I've seen them do with McDonald's cinnamon buns in the US(traditionally, I'm sure it's an option at bakeries), just sprinkle sugar on top.
If you like it sweeter, there are versions with apple or vanilla.
My mother used to sometimes make them with apples mashed into a fine paste(äppelmos) and spread thinly over the flattened dough before it's rolled up. Like it more then the chunky version i sometimes come across from bakeries.
Your mother's version sounds delicious! All cinnamon buns here in the US are covered in sugar frosting and also have butter and sugar in each layer. They are sickeningly sweet. Thie swedish way is a much better version, just not what we expected

If you want something pretty fast but actually good burgers and fries - go to Max. If you're punk, got all the time in the world and got no taste buds - go to Burger King. Norwegian here. I prefer Max’s hamburgers. The meat is extra juicy and the produce is fresher than the other twi.

That is because Max has more than meat in their burgers, there is a lot of other things in them. You can’t eat the meat at Max if you are allergic to milk for example.

The MAX hamburger chain started in 1971 in the city of Luleå in Norrbotten. Max is the hamburger chain that beats out Mc Danaolds in several places in Sweden and is considered to have the best food among the hamburger chains in Sweden. Personally, I prefer the Flippin' Burgers place. Then they do everything themselves from scratch, such as grinding the ground beef with fat themselves and shaping the hamburgers, a bakery makes bread for Dee's hamburgers, they make the french fries themselves from potatoes, they pickle the red onion and cucumber themselves plus everything else they serve.

Actually false. It started in Gällivare in '68. It later opened in Luleå and outcompeted the local McDonalds!

Their burgers is of shit quality. 80% meat and a bunch of potato starch and dextrose as fillers. The chicken sandwiches are allright I guess.

MAX is the by far best big chain fast food here. Sadly they've decreased in quality over the past 5-10 years. They used to be even better imo.
Brödernas is a smaller chain that does absolutely delicious smash burgers.

Halloumi is goat cheese. Its usually cut in slizes like on the burger then fried. Its delicious to eat when having a cold pale ale ♥️🔥🍻

Halloumi is a name protected cheese primarily made from sheep, but can also be goat. But I has to be from Cyprus. It’s origin protected (like Champagne) so generally it’s considered really bad for the environment. Especially as
Cyprus has the highest use of antibiotics in EU. There are heaps of similar local cheeses just not called Halloumi. For instance the Swedish made cheese is called Grilloumi. As it’s mostly grilled.

American minced meat is banned for import to the EU for that reason, so is American chicken and tons of other foods. It's quite the difference quality wise, for sure.

Real Swedish fast food is kebab and pizzas. But, the actually REAL Swedish fast food is hotdogs, fries, ketchup, mustard and räksallad. That's like the most Swedish one, if maybe not a "Pucko" drink and a "Tunnbrödrulle" which is like a bread with mashed potatoes, hotdogs or sausages or what have you, and some salads and shrimp salad (räksallad) ketchup and mustard. Mashed potatoes with hot dogs are probably the most Swedishiest of them all.

Oh no, these are eaten all the time. The tunnbrödrulle and the other one is kind of hard to come by these day I've noticed myself. Most people make it at home instead I suppose. The fries and hotdog dish is one that was much more common in the 70's and 80's, around the time "kebab" came to the scene. The typical swede prefer a hotdog or such if nothing else is available, these days it's common to come by places that also sell kebabs and hamburgers etc. @@DoesntPayFullPrice

But hem is home and ta is take/bring. So that got me thinking whatever hämta could come from hem ta "home take" as in bring back home?
In Sweden we can make words from putting other words together so we may not have as many unique/specific words but put together words which describes the thing. Like in Swedish wiper is vindrutetorkare = wind shield drier. Poor example.

@@DoesntPayFullPrice But hämta doesn't mean "bring back home", you can say "Kan du hämta bollen?" as in "can you fetch (go pick up and bring back) the ball?" Even "Hämta filen" as in "download the file" but a more literal translation to that would be "Ladda ner filen" ("load down the file.")
But of course you brought back wood, food and goods to the home before.
For reindeer burgers, you have to travel to northern Finland - not as many options for sauce and spices, but the quality is superb. But back to Swedish fast food: If you enjoyed those burgers, you really should try something from "Sibylla". If you find a well established Sibylla fast food restaurant, they will have some of the best burgers available. Next step would be any of the proper restaurant burgers (the ones without drive-in) from "Bastard Burgers", "Tugg Burgers", "Phil's" etc - usually smaller franchises.

I used to eat reindeer burger in Umeå, in Sweden, back in the 90's. Sami exist in both Finland, Sweden and Norway. But to find it you need to be closer to Sami Land than Stockholm.

Naaaah, not Sibylla. They have dropped so far from what they once were. At least here in Gothenburg. Now its just those generic gatuköksburgare. Frozen patties that everyone use, nothing special.

You guys really missed out on the Green Garlic dip, it’s epic. And another great thing about Max it’s that they actually sell their dressings, dips and buns in regular supermarkets, so you can make your own patty with their dressing - there are however better Swedish franchises than Max.
However the iconic quintessential burger ever must be the El Maco. A burger with “Tex-mex” flavors and fries with a special seasoning. Don’t know if you heard about “fredagsmys” when the majority of Swedes have a sort of tacos o Friday evenings. Tho it’s nothing like tacos… it’s hard cornbreads or soft tortillas, with mince beef with a special seasoning, salsa (yeah right), and veggies. Pretty nice and actually delicious but really not more taco than a roasted corn on a cob…

Correction - there are no better Swedish franchises than Max. No other franchise comes close to Max.

Sweden also has a lot of medium/small sized chains that are really good/better. Just like in America. Bastard burger for example, they have a blueberry BBQ burger haha. Bun meat bun and jettz are good too.
But Bastard burgers is a step above fast food. A mix between fast food and a "real resturant" burger.

I really liked Hamburgerbruket at the start, but the franchises I visited lost their edge during the pandemic. Could be because they started the chain not long before, so the dwindling number of clients due to social distancing made it really hard for them to survive.

Love the chicken burgers from Max, almost nothing beats it. Next time you are in Stockholm, you have to try the burger foodtruck called "funky chicken food truck", its in Nacka. Have won swedens best burger like 3 years in a row.

I think the contents of those cheese sticks is supposed to be mozarella. But of course it isn't.
They have regular mozzarella sticks too, this was more of a cream cheese
Funny thing, Mcdonalds went out of buisness in my hometown because of Max. They even had a drivetrough for snowmobiles. Up here in the north were Max orginated we dont care much for Mcdonalds there are some around in different cities but honestly... they taste bad compared to anything Max has.

MAX Korean chicken bbq is hands down the best burger they have. That thicc chicken, onion rings and sauces are 👌

You should try TUGG. In my opinion they make the best burgers in Sweden. I recommend trying the double-smokey with either normal or mixed fries and for dip sauce the cheddar is so good. Keep up the awesome videos!

still don't get how people in Sweden think Mcdonalds is better than MAX. Max is better in every way, juicy, explosion with flavors in your mouth. Mcdonalds is alright but not close to being as good as Max. Even Max's sauces is better. Mcdonalds is often very dry, my dad couldn't even cut through the bun once because it was so dry. Wake up people, Max is better

If you're still in Sweden you should visit Bastard Burgers and especially try the Cloudberry Grenade soda. Soda Nation in Stockholm could also be a fun visit!

Also, for a really unique burger experience, you need to go to a combined grill and pizzeria that has the "Carlskrove" on their menu.
(It's a supersized burger meal, enclosed inside a calzone pizza! Soda on the side though😂)
That was fun! Hilariously, that is exactly the same Max I have been to a few times but usually only around 02.00 or later just before trying to figure out how to get back home. I go to McD's for my kids sometimes. Never been to Burger King.

The Vegan burgers at Max are insanely good
They looked really good!
They are extremely meat-like and if bought frozen at the grocery store and fried at home or put on the grill, they have grains of coconut oil embedded in the paste before they got pressed and frozen, so they get really juicy, and if pan fried, the drippings they leave in the pan is great for frying actual meat afterwards or for adding flour and liquid to make a sauce or gravy❤

There are basically two KFC's in all of Stockholm (Bromma and Farsta). None in the city center as far as I know.
@@DoesntPayFullPrice It is just called 'Kanelbullens Dag' or cinnamonbun day. We have a variety of these days, there is another Swedish sort of pastry called Semla, which has its own day too.

I absolutely love Max. Of course there was also the only time i saw my wife vomit in public. So, a 5.0 out of 10 from us.

I usually do the Grand Chicken Parmesan with an extra Halloumi slice on MAX. SOO god!

@@DoesntPayFullPrice Burger with beef, Bacon, Your normal vegetables, Max dressing and heavenly sour dough bread on top 😍👌, That bread makes the burger, Its insanely good and what made max popular af when they only had restaurants in the northern parts of Sweden 👌.
Try a frisco with double paddys, Normal fries (best fries ever) , Hot cheese dip and honey curry dip. IF you do that in the summer and they have it order a "lyxshake" with hjortron (cloudberry i want to remember the name is in English!?) And dont forget the chili cheese tops to dip in honey curry/hot cheese And you will thank me later 😅👌👍💪

Dont compare Mcdonalds and Max togheter. Max beats Mcdonalds all the time. Max started in 1968 before Mcdonalds made it to Sweden in 1973.

Some of that food must have been cold AF after visiting so many different places in one trip? Must affect taste...
Luckily they were all right next to each other, and only a 5 minute walk to our hotel, so it wasn't that bad.
Mcdonalds is from USA what do you guys mean? hahah MC is the worst thing we have in Sweden so much other stuff to try Pizza, Sushi, thai, chinese? McDonalds is the same everywhere? no? :D
