A bit weird though. I use 'over ripe' bananas for a tasty banana bread..... If i asked our grocer for 'mature' bananas, I think he would roll his eyes at me.
This set is an adorable travel set. It seems like the quality is nice. Love the palette. Thank you for the review and thank you to Regina's husband for reaching out to Lindsay. I love Lindsay's honest reviews that always have a positive twist.
Mature pomegranate as opposed to immature, unripened fruit?? Glad you are doing hand made watercolors reviews now, as I purchased some paints by ‘DesignByRachel’ and ‘Timonae from Spain’ handmade paints. Great color selections and activity workbook. Thanks for doing this unboxing, swatching, and painting, Lindsay! Such an adorable palette… 🤩🥰🙏🏾✨💜👍🏾

The foundation set is one that I will be purchasing in the very near future thanks to you amazing review. Thank you for the hard work and dedication that you place into your channel and most of all thank you for sharing your artistic talent with us! I am truly grateful! Have a lovely weekend!🎨💕
I love how vibrant and clear those colors are. I paint in my kitchen, and my table has a round, clear glass top. I can tape a white piece of paper underneath and use the table top as a pallet if I want. However, I usually use ceramic or porcelain. I also have an old clear glass cutting board I can use, but i usually use that to float my paper on. 😊
So glad to see this gorgeous #AmericanMade watercolor set (but I enjoy buying from all over the world)from #smallbusiness! It looks great! Anxious to see what all the colors look like and get all the specs. Thank you, Lindsay!
Hullo Lindsay, I do enjoy watching your videos and seeing you put paints through their paces! I have always thought that liquid watercolor inks were not lightfast but new technologies has made that an obsolete fact! I wish there were more yellows available. That is just something that I like to have plenty of in/on my palettes! I do like several convenience greens, with more yellows more greens are easier for me to mix. 2 maybe 3 blues are all that are needed for me. I thought you did a lovely job painting your “tests” and I believe that most of us consider those finished artwork level! Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful ideas and opinions on these supplies. Be safe, take care and enjoy your day!
Most liquid watercolors are not lightfast but the hydrus line us asxthey use pigments rather than dies. They look more opaque in the bottles so it's easy to tell them apart from the radiance line which is a dye and can be used on fabric
I've had my eyes on these for a while, I fell in love with the palette - it's got a large surface, but it's thin and not at all bulky. Great for a travel palette, it fits really nicely next to a sketchbook. I live in Europe though, so I bought a very similar palette on Amazon (and then one more from Wish) instead. FCLUB's magnetic palette is very similar, but with a plastic mixing area. At some point I'd really want to get an empty Regina's palette, though, just for the glass mixing area.
I like to use the ph martins acrylic inks as a kind of watercolor, because they don’t really bleed on thinner papers. Because they’re permanent when dry, they can’t be rewet. So I premix them with water, about 3-1, water to paint ratio, inside 15ml dropper bottles. And I can always add more water/ink to whatever I put out if I need a stronger or lighter color. It’s served me well.
These are so cute and vibrant! I think in the future I’m gonna get the introductory colors + palette, a couple of those gorgeous greens they have, and some of their empty pans to fill with a few of my mijello mission gold or Holbein watercolors like ultramarine, burnt sienna, yellow ochre, etc. That way I have space between them in the palette too. Thanks Lindsay!
Did you k or she makes and packages all her paints and all the packaging by hand! I watched a video where she showed the process and it was mesmerizing! She truly puts her ALL into her product!
I literally made that exact palette (with my own paints) to make a plein air kit for my daughter’s birthday! That’s so neat! It’s a great palette-absolutely perfect for traveling.
Sorry I havn't been around my baby is still in the hospital. But thank you for this review! It was a wonderful visual to rest my heart and mind. I love watercolors! Stunning 😍
Those are really neat! I have a hard time using the Ph Martin's Hydrus too, once their dry. I too have well water, but mine's on the bit too soft side. However, I get those same funky flake that refuse to rehydrate too. Had no idea they could be transformed into solid pans. Might have to try some of them.
Yay I love these paints! The pallette felt nice, and the paints were flat washes which I like. I have Hydrus paints as well but the solid paints r more easy for me to use like u said. My paints smell like honey though lol
Just an idea to save that silver pomegranate, how about using a circle cutter on the sticker so that the sticker can be applied without covering that portion?
I love your artwork with the art supplies! Thanks for the review. Try using distilled water when when you use the liquid watercolor, maybe it will help. I have very hard water and I use it in my water brush pens and in most things that I need to add water to.
@@thefrugalcrafter you don’t live in South central Texas, where are water is filtered into an aquifer via limestone. It will destroy faucets, shower heads, coffee makers, water coolers, dishwasher’s and other plumbing items in less than a year if you don’t soften your water or soak your fixtures in CLR monthly. And I’d definitely had an effect on pigments when mixed with hard water vs distilled. I buy distilled for my art and just treat everything else with vinegar or CLR.
Would be great for journaling/ art journaling... small size with lots of colors would fit nicely on a desk... could see doing a disc bound journal with watercolor pages interspersed with writing pages... 🤔
Sounds great Lindsay, but they don't have the quin rose name listed in the HL page for the Grumbacher Academy watercolors. I think they have a Rose Madder, which I thought was a strange name, but whatever on that. And I've even went to the Chartpak on Grumbacher's site and that wasn't much help to me either. Thanks for the info, I will log it down with the other information you've given me. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas
Oh I had a feeling the colouring book was themed after the colour names as soon as you said fuchsia! I was also quite confused at the bum at the end there, it really threw me off 😂
Hello Lindsay, I've got a question but not related to this video. I've been researching my notes from you and your review of the Grumbacher Academy watercolor tube paints and after that I've found 8 of the 9 colors you recommended in the Grumbacher Academy tube paints for sale in Hobby Lobby this week through Saturday. Sale for these at HL are once a month). Anyway, the only one I couldn't find was Magenta. I would send the link to Hobby Lobby page that shows all the colors available in the Grumbacher Academy watercolor paints if you'd like. But I know you are super busy with enjoying the time you have left to spend with your girls. I'm kinda stumped. Thanks for everything you do. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas
Hi Lindsay…I don’t know if anyone else asked, but I’d love to see a tutorial of you using these paints…I have the small set in my cart….I know that I love the palette! It’s a bit expensive for me now, so I’d like to watch you use them… I love “honey” paints and they look very vibrant…Thanks a bunch for all you do!!
Martin's advertises their inks as for use for tattoos. That's why they use the pigment choices they use, because their ink is made for tattoo artists primarily and actually are not designed for traditional art, so they have to be safe for injection into skin. I love Martin's ink. I use them for my dip pen drawing. They are great for dip pen art. I have never considered using their ink to make handmade Watercolor 😮 I make my own Watercolors out of cheap dollar store makeup kits, and I use them for sparkle embroidery look details on my fashion art illustrations. So I have the materials to make small batches of paint plus I have the full line of all Martin's inks. I think I will try making some Watercolor pans with the inks, see how it comes out.
I think you are confusing the Dr Ph Martin inks. These are made with the hydrus pigment based liquid watercolors. They have several different lines if ink. I was not aware they made tattoo ink.
what an innovative & unique palette of colours i can see this collection becoming the new it palette as a watercolourist i love the vibrancy but i'd miss the granulation that makes this medium truly special, it's almost like watercolour/acrylics hybrid & i'm not sure how i feel about them & partly that is due to the fact that they are $150 AUD + international postage which is courier so could end up been extremely pricey for someone living in my part of the world, when for the same money i could get a traditional - artist quality - watercolour palette cough' sennelier L'Aquarelle'cough thank you Lindsay for this brilliant review
That is not correct. Dr ph martin has 2 lines of liquid watercolor. The Hydrus (which Reginas pains are based) use customary watercolor pigments. The Radiance line of liquid watercolors are the dye based ones from Dr ph Martin.

Going to be giggling all night about naughty pomegranates😂. That art supply painting is lovely Lindsay, would be great to see it if you behave time to edit it. Hope you had a good holiday.
Thanks Lindsay. Yes my dried down hard watercolors are all goopey because of the recent heat and high humidity we've been having. Have to say I'm not a fan of this phenomenon. Great review.💜
Love all your reviews! Could you please do one of the sennelier ‘student’ version watercolours? Would really like to know your opinion about them. I think the ‘ mature ‘pomegranate has something to do with their product symbol which looks like a pomegranate. I don’t know how the ‘mature’ fits in though 😃
I use distilled water when I paint, because our well water has a lot of impurities, but our city water (where we just moved to ) has a lot of chlorine in it, so I’ll probably continue using distilled water. You mentioned new glasses coming, did this video start before your glasses came? Or did you change your glasses again? I think you were using a new bifocal. I was given a set of Dr Martin set 2 ( I think ) I haven’t really tried them yet. I didn’t think any of the Dr P paints granulated ? You didn’t mention any in your pallet granulated, so I think no.
I didn't have my new glasses yet 😆 I need to check pigment codes but the hydrus may granulate if there are granulating pigments. That said these are rated for airbrush and ruling pens so prob a my not as the pigments would need to be ground more finely.
Dear Lindsay ...Or mature could be * nature typo? In Sydney, honey watercolours make me go nuts. But some like A. Gallo are not sticky? I have sent some paint to Victoria and South Australia, hoping they will be better there with other people, and slightly cooler climates. We all still have humidity at 80-90 percent these days. As a collector, I get irritable with sticky paints. I also have trouble filling pans from any tube. I get them all over the place, over pans, over my hands, and I don't like how this feels. It wastes heaps, and worse still if I am clumsy and the pans touch each other! I found White Nights, and some homemade ones from Etsy are very sticky. QUESTIONs: I know you love the M.Graham paints with honey, Lindsay. Do these dry for you in your studio palette in your humidity in Maine? (I can understand in a large studio palette with a lid, but in pans, it is not a very nice experience.) Is this the same with MG gouache? I wouldn't know as I haven't tried them. The palette looks lovely, but I think I would prefer more yellows and blues. I would also get confused with all of the colours that look transparent in the pan, having to count them to find the associated swatch. A lot of reds in this palette, and nice clean, clear mixes, these will be suitable for a lot of collectors who do florals at home. I think if it was packed around the sides, they won't shift as much. We have 700 species of Eucalyptus here, only about 10 that koalas love to eat, and very few blue grey ones, but that colour is really interesting blue grey. Our eucalyptus trees can be scented like lemon, honey, peppermint. It is the reason for our blue mountains appearing blue violet where the eucalyptus changes the air around, and gives off a distant blue. Thanks for the video, Lindsay! In kindred spirit, Regards Eliza Tuesday 26th July 2022; 3:51pm Australia xx
The MG watercolor remain sticky. You have to be careful using them in your travel palette but i still do. The gouache dries hard. Most honey watercolor are soft or sticky in maine except the Renesans.
Cool, thank you. Are the pans in the sets a standard size, so that they would be able to snap-in to a standard blank palette that includes mixing areas and uses 1/2 or full size pans that snap into guides?
Could you take something like a credit card to “scooch “ a small gap between the columns of pans? Wasn’t there some space at the end of the palette? Maybe a little separation, at least vertically, will help keep the paints from contaminating it’s neighbors? Great video, thanks Lindsey!
I have been waiting for this review. Can you do a long tutorial for the art supplies and put it on your paid site? Tfs ps I ordered the 42 set last week I couldn’t wait
I might do something similar. I didn't narrate it when I filmed it and I like to live narrate my critique club lessons. I did do a time lapse for UA-cam tho:)
It looks like a lovely palette to have and I always love your swatching cards. But can be talk about NO recycling. What do you do with all your recyclable rubbish? 😯
They landfill or incinerate it. It's sad. I still put cardboard out in my recycle bin to save a plastic bag but it all goes to landfill so I try to avoid things with excess packaging.
No. I have well water and I use it. Never have had any issues. However, if you have a concern all you have to do is filter it and boil it. Or buy a gallon of distilled water.
Oh, I will say, don't leave water that hasn't been boiled in water brushes or in water pots. Little bears live in it and they will begin to clump together. Which will clog your water brush. Cheers
It won’t cause any issues re-wetting paints at all - may make granulating (specifically flocculating not sedimenting) paints granulate more strongly but depends on which type of hard water it is.
As others here aleady said, you should be fine. We have extremely hard water here, the kind of hard where our kitchen applicances get lime crusts, and my paints, including the ones poured from tubes, rewet just fine. I switched to distilled water for a while because I was worried about the hard water damaging my paints, but I found that it did not make a difference, the hard water works just as well. However, I should probably add this, I use regular waterolors, not any liquid ones. I have no idea how our hard water would behave with liquid watercolors like the P.H. Marten ones.
Lol your single color rainbow looked like a tie dyed sock until you added the blue at the top, now it looks like one of those strange guys at a football game. Ty for this review, love dr phmartins but dont use it beacuse of the bottles.
Yikes- all the religion in that marketing is a major turnoff for me. They do seem like super fun, incredibly vibrant paints, though- love the translucency. Maybe I'll give the Hydrus another look. Those color mixtures are beautiful.
From what I can find, pomegranate symbolizes death, love, sex, fertility, and child birth in classic literature. That being said, it still doesn't explain why that illustration is labeled "mature". Very odd.
Shoutout to top binding! Us left handed can use it as easily as right handers and don’t have to paint upside down :-).
Hurrah a fellow lefty !!

In kindred spirit,
Regards Eliza

The MG watercolor remain sticky. You have to be careful using them in your travel palette but i still do. The gouache dries hard. Most honey watercolor are soft or sticky in maine except the Renesans.
Cool, thank you. Are the pans in the sets a standard size, so that they would be able to snap-in to a standard blank palette that includes mixing areas and uses 1/2 or full size pans that snap into guides?
Yes, I just got some. They are standard.
Could you take something like a credit card to “scooch “ a small gap between the columns of pans? Wasn’t there some space at the end of the palette? Maybe a little separation, at least vertically, will help keep the paints from contaminating it’s neighbors? Great video, thanks Lindsey!
Good idea! That would work!
😂😂😂 the sezy pomegranate!!
Not for me but I appreciate the review. Good stuff.
We can see the images on the watercolor book, Lindsay. :)
Ah, I was wondering whether my hard water would cause issues with rewetting tube paints I let dry out in a pallet to use over and over.
Ive 9nly had issues with rewetting the hydrus with my hard water. No issues with Regina's because they are not totally dry maybe?
Beautiful set. I am still giggling about the sexy pomegranates.
Wish I could buy these, but I’m not in the USA. How is it allowed that they use another brands products to make their watercolours? Is this common?
Wondered the same thing
They have permission from ph Martin.
Interesting! And on a lighter note...I live about 35 miles from these people, who are from Columbia City, Indiana.
Nice!
She sounds so much like Lachri Fine Art
😆 Lisa is awesome!
Mature for fruit is. RIPE, just like we are getting. HAHA
😆
Lol. They should have put the Mature "warning" on the bum illustration! :)
😆
From what I can find, pomegranate symbolizes death, love, sex, fertility, and child birth in classic literature. That being said, it still doesn't explain why that illustration is labeled "mature". Very odd.
WHAT??? You don’t have recycling???
It's sad. They got rid if it a couple of years ago because it was too expensive.
@@thefrugalcrafter that’s terrible!!!😕😕😕
Remember to block out the barcode too 🙂
