    Thanks. It took a few tries, but after I got better at holding it still on the mandrel, I made a good one with brass and a citrine nugget. Love it. Thanks again.

      Does it feel like a normal ring or do you have to use something else besides wire?

    I love all your tutorials, Susan, especially your ring tutorials! I would love to see a tutorial that can use up my collection of bicone crystal beads in a fresh way. Bicones tend to look dated in earrings, but I’m thinking that the right ring design might breathe fresh life into them. I have a variety of sizes, from 4mm to 12mm. By the way, I have used some of the bicones in JTV’s cocktail ring design, but I am looking for more of an easy every day ring design. Thank you!!

We have this project kitted up here with small spools of wire but if you're looking for less than a spool, it might be hard to find such a small amount. Maybe split with a friend! Thank you for your time and sharing this beautiful ring and technique. The person who made the mean comment.(Lizzie CT)...hey that was so unnecessary Ive been making rings and jewelry for 15 years and yes it's called a ring manderal but a ring stick is very obvious what it is. Just use your brain! Also I don't think it's messy, I love the look!!! Thanks again Susan, great teacher!

    • @Annmarie-gd3fv
      @Annmarie-gd3fv 5 років тому +1

      Not sorry that you consider my comment "mean". Try going to Michael's or AC Moore where most budding jewelry makers start buying their supplies and search for ring sticks. Not going to find them because the professional name is ring mandrell. Why confuse the people you want to watch your videos and buy your products by using the wrong name? Also, when I see something that is potentially dangerous to a new jewelry maker...such as the video showing first timers how to use a torch and the 2 people using it have long hair hanging near the torch, I'm going to point it out. Next time, you should use my whole name/user id. I found this well after the fact when it was pointed out to me. At least now I was able to explain my "mean" comment whether you like the explanation or not.

    Hello, enjoying the tutorials, they are simple, clear and informative. What would someone need to actually make (or drill) holes into gemstones to be able to use them in jewelry making? Is there anything relatively badic and inexpensive? Thanks 😊

    • @JewelSchool
      @JewelSchool  5 років тому +2

      You can get a relatively inexpensive drill press JSTKIT27 or you can use a good rotary tool. To drill through gemstones, you will need diamond coated drill bits, lubricant and a bit of patience! If you are going to try this, stick to softer, inexpensive stones to start (JLW9655). It takes practice and you do not want to break a stone that is expensive or precious to you!

  • @markraya2541

    You should have wrapped the circle with a layer of wire for extra stability. A ring like that would be incredibly easy to deform.

    • @JewelSchool
      @JewelSchool  3 роки тому

      Kyleigh, as long as you cut the ends close and tuck them in this should be perfectly comfortable to wear, plus, 20ga wire is very durable. Unless there is a deep cut somewhere in the wire when you made the ring, it should not break. Hope this helps!

  • @TheNumbaOneMiss

    I've made several rings the past couple days and the problem I'm having is with round beads. When I begin the wrapping around the bead, it doesn't wrap in a circular way, it wraps in a horizontal oval around the wire on the sides of the bead and the bead is lop sided. My fingers are killing me trying to wrap that wire. I've wasted so much wire wrapping unevenly. I unwrap and try to rewrap and the wire gets all twisted. It's a nightmare. 😆

    • @arikkraft5755
      @arikkraft5755 2 роки тому

      Not sure what exactly is causing you to have trouble without observation but it may help to anneal the wire first. If you haven't done so. It's often been work hardened as it was drawn out.

    Susan, I enjoy your videos. I am wondering if you can do a video of an adjustable swirly scrolled finger ring with a dragonfly charm dangling and incorporated in the top or middle swirl? I’ve seen charm ring videos but mostly a single band type. I have 18 gauge sterling silver wire & various size dragonfly charms. Since sterling silver wire is expensive, I’m reluctant to try this on my own as I don’t want to waste the wire. I realize my request is confusing but Thought I would ask anyhow.
    The ring size is between a 5 & 6.
