Just made another ring alongside this tutorial! I love how simple and beautiful it came out! She’s a great teacher! Love these videos and can’t wait to keep trying projects!
Thanks. It took a few tries, but after I got better at holding it still on the mandrel, I made a good one with brass and a citrine nugget. Love it. Thanks again.
I am going to try this! I have all the supplies but the main one.. the ring tool. I'm buying one today and making a ring for my best friend. Thank you for this tutorial!!
I love all your tutorials, Susan, especially your ring tutorials! I would love to see a tutorial that can use up my collection of bicone crystal beads in a fresh way. Bicones tend to look dated in earrings, but I’m thinking that the right ring design might breathe fresh life into them. I have a variety of sizes, from 4mm to 12mm. By the way, I have used some of the bicones in JTV’s cocktail ring design, but I am looking for more of an easy every day ring design. Thank you!!
Thank you for showing this video. I have arthritis real bad in my hands. My finger size is actually 9 but need 11 to get over my joints. Using the wire I can fit over my knuckles then can manipulate wire to fit
Hi Margaret! So glad you're getting started! We have this project kitted up here with small spools of wire but if you're looking for less than a spool, it might be hard to find such a small amount. Maybe split with a friend! Thanks! www.jtv.com/product/i-made-this-princess-leia-inspired-ring-supply-kit-includes-beads-and-wire/JSYT17?rrec=true?mcid=XSOjsyt
Thank you for your time and sharing this beautiful ring and technique. The person who made the mean comment.(Lizzie CT)...hey that was so unnecessary Ive been making rings and jewelry for 15 years and yes it's called a ring manderal but a ring stick is very obvious what it is. Just use your brain! Also I don't think it's messy, I love the look!!! Thanks again Susan, great teacher! '
Not sorry that you consider my comment "mean". Try going to Michael's or AC Moore where most budding jewelry makers start buying their supplies and search for ring sticks. Not going to find them because the professional name is ring mandrell. Why confuse the people you want to watch your videos and buy your products by using the wrong name? Also, when I see something that is potentially dangerous to a new jewelry maker...such as the video showing first timers how to use a torch and the 2 people using it have long hair hanging near the torch, I'm going to point it out. Next time, you should use my whole name/user id. I found this well after the fact when it was pointed out to me. At least now I was able to explain my "mean" comment whether you like the explanation or not.
Thank so much Susan for this easy to follow tutorial. You’ve walk us through one step at a time and explain it so well that even a novice like me can easily follow. Rough
Ooo you made it look so easy? What about putting a smaller bead on each side of the larger one? Or adding different wire in or braiding the wire? Might have to try experimenting with this...
Hello, enjoying the tutorials, they are simple, clear and informative. What would someone need to actually make (or drill) holes into gemstones to be able to use them in jewelry making? Is there anything relatively badic and inexpensive? Thanks 😊
You can get a relatively inexpensive drill press JSTKIT27 or you can use a good rotary tool. To drill through gemstones, you will need diamond coated drill bits, lubricant and a bit of patience! If you are going to try this, stick to softer, inexpensive stones to start (JLW9655). It takes practice and you do not want to break a stone that is expensive or precious to you!
Great tutorial. Can we only do it if it’s a bead? What if my stones don’t have a hole through them is there a way to still make these rings ? Is there a tool I need to make a hole or is it possible to wire it securely without it..
Hey Claudia! So glad you asked! Susan did a "Basic Ring for Everyday" tutorial that We think you might like. She uses beads with holes in them. Check it out! ua-cam.com/video/Q2y26tJv1eI/v-deo.html
Hello Susan! I've seen you recently wearing multi stone rings made like this one. I'd like to see this technique. They are like 3 in a row or (today) 4 in a row and it appears they are wire wrapped.
Kyleigh, as long as you cut the ends close and tuck them in this should be perfectly comfortable to wear, plus, 20ga wire is very durable. Unless there is a deep cut somewhere in the wire when you made the ring, it should not break. Hope this helps!
I've made several rings the past couple days and the problem I'm having is with round beads. When I begin the wrapping around the bead, it doesn't wrap in a circular way, it wraps in a horizontal oval around the wire on the sides of the bead and the bead is lop sided. My fingers are killing me trying to wrap that wire. I've wasted so much wire wrapping unevenly. I unwrap and try to rewrap and the wire gets all twisted. It's a nightmare. 😆
Not sure what exactly is causing you to have trouble without observation but it may help to anneal the wire first. If you haven't done so. It's often been work hardened as it was drawn out.
Susan, I enjoy your videos. I am wondering if you can do a video of an adjustable swirly scrolled finger ring with a dragonfly charm dangling and incorporated in the top or middle swirl? I’ve seen charm ring videos but mostly a single band type. I have 18 gauge sterling silver wire & various size dragonfly charms. Since sterling silver wire is expensive, I’m reluctant to try this on my own as I don’t want to waste the wire. I realize my request is confusing but Thought I would ask anyhow. The ring size is between a 5 & 6.
Can you do a video making a ring with a regular gemstone (not a bead with holes)? I have a couple local gem/crystal shops I love and buy from but they don't have gem beads.
where can we get a ring stick? I searched on amazon on nothing came up.. I'm trying to learn on how to make jewelry and I wanted to ask if Michael's is a good place to shop? lmk!
You can get one at michaels for sure! You just need to make sure it is stainless steel. Eurotool makes the best one. Do a google search for Eurotool stainless steel ring mandrel.
Hey Laura! I prefer this mandrel because you can slide the piece easily up or down and also can hammer directly onto it in case you need to make it larger or give it texture!
When I make rings I can never make it so the wrapped wire doesn’t poke and scratch my finger. I use a filer but is there another way to avoid making a jagged cut on those wires?
I just ordered Crystal Glass appx 8mm Rondelle Bead Strand Set of 12 in 12 Colors appx 14-15" and saw the rings you made with these! Love them. How do you use headpins to make them rings using these beads as you did on your video. Thank you. I love your videos and JTV
I've been watching quite a few wire wrapping videos by lots of people and I notice that certain Tools can sometimes put a nick or scratch in the metal. How do you fix this? Also, can you recommend a good book on wirewrapping for beginners? Thanks so much
Hi Elisa! The exact beads for this video is currently out of stock, but here's a link to some labradorite beads that should work for this project! www.jtv.com/search/?Ntt=labradorite+beads&type=products&N=4243964577&Ntk=All?mcid=XSOjsyt Good luck!

Ahhhh thank you! I’ve tried making so many rings and have failed so many times but thanks to you! I understand it perfectly now thank you!!!
Ha ha ha! A ring stick! That cracks me up you call a mandrel a ring stick.
Just made this! So easy and looks great. I made it with Rose gold color wire and amethyst.
Does it feel like a normal ring or do you have to use something else besides wire?
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge.
It is very appreciated.
God bless you.

I would love to see how you made the rectangular flat ring you wore in another video. It's curved and quite large.
This helped me so much!!!! Thank you🤍🤍!! Also the ring you made is gorgeous
Thank you
Wow I love this! I am considering going into jewelry making for myself and this helped greatly!

Thanks, Vickie!
These look so easy! Can you please provide the link for the ring mandrel?
Thank you so much this is gonna help out with my jewelry website
I have noticed this series doesn’t seem to show the close ups of the finished product which is frustrating.
So interesting and enjoy!
Thanks for sharing!
Hi my name is April and I am learning how to make rings thank you for sharing
Wow you are amazing 😍😍😍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 thank you soooo much for sharing ❤️❤️❤️

You should have wrapped the circle with a layer of wire for extra stability. A ring like that would be incredibly easy to deform.
Thank you that was awesome 😀🌷
Will you be showing how to carve a lost wax ring / jewellery?
Great tutorial. Can we only do it if it’s a bead? What if my stones don’t have a hole through them is there a way to still make these rings ? Is there a tool I need to make a hole or is it possible to wire it securely without it..

what brand ring mandrel are you using? I have been having trouble finding accurate ones
Very nice
So beautiful
Omg thank you! This helped so much
I have only ever heard of the "stick" you keep referring to as a ring mandrel in jewelry making. Pretty ring.
I love this🙏🏻👏👏
Hi,love this video, your finger ring is also beautiful can you teach us how can make it,thanks
Hi, I want to ask where to buy that thing to do rings on it?
Susan, I enjoy your videos. I am wondering if you can do a video of an adjustable swirly scrolled finger ring with a dragonfly charm dangling and incorporated in the top or middle swirl? We'll ask Susan if that is a tutorial she can do!
Thank you. Great project. 🌫️💜🌫️✌️☯️☮️🙏
Love this! Thank you for making it look simple!
Thanks for watching!
THANKNYOU FOR TSKING TIME OUT TO MAKE THIS VIDEO
Nice ring I like it
I would love to know how to make a thick signet ring!!!! It would be awesome if you could make a video on that!
Great suggestion!
Hi
Can you please suggest me which tools companies r best to buy tools for jewelry makers.
Can paste solder go bad and no longer flow? Can normal craft wire be soldered
i love this
Can you do a video making a ring with a regular gemstone (not a bead with holes)? I have a couple local gem/crystal shops I love and buy from but they don't have gem beads.

Hi Toby! You can use a dip to coat your pliers, we don't sell it at JTV though - one I like is called Tool Magic.
Hey can somrbody tell me where can I find these type of beads?
Hi Elisa! The exact beads for this video is currently out of stock, but here's a link to some labradorite beads that should work for this project!
www.jtv.com/search/?Ntt=labradorite+beads&type=products&N=4243964577&Ntk=All?mcid=XSOjsyt
Good luck!
That was wonderful! Can you make a prong set ring with wire with proper finishing?
Awesome ring . Pls let me know how much is 2 feet in inches or cm . Thankyou. God bless. Tkcare.
