READ THIS in case of doubts :D
It seems some people are not understanding the concept of how CPU benchmarking works and how bottlenecks happen/get mitigated.
So, to begin with resolution DOES NOT MATTER, the FPS targets do. For example, a 7700XT will have the same results at 1080P than the 7900XT at 1440P, so the resolution here doesn't matter because the GPU would be the bottleneck in both scenarios as even at different resolutions they deliver the same FPS output. ~
When the thing we call "CPU bottleneck" happens is when the current CPU/RAM combo can't produce as many FPS as the GPU want to in that specific scenario, and that's exactly the situation you want to create so you can measure the the maximum amount of FPS each CPU can deliver in a specific scenarios, because if you test 3 CPUs that can deliver 100FPS but your GPU in that scenario can only deliver 90FPS, all the CPUs will deliver the same FPS (apart from slight 1% lows variations) as the limiting factor there is the GPU and not the CPU.
With this said, hope to help you understand (again) why CPUs are tested at 1080P even in 2024, where the mainstream resolution is shifting to 1440P. Cheers!
Добре че обясняваш . Ама ние пак не разбираме . Айде наздраве.
I would also add that the more you increase the resolution, the more overall bottleneck will shift from CPU to GPU.... and the difference between CPUs will be even smaller. Still would like to see at least 1440p tests though....
@@yingbxua6240 Yes, as I explained resolution doesn't matter. What matters is the FPS output, and the same GPU at higher res delivers less FPS
@@AncientGameplaysit boggles the mind that this needs to be said.
I’m sure there are plenty that are ignorant to how bottlenecks work and an explanation like this is needed.
However some people watch these videos not to simply see what the proper cpu tests that show how much faster a 7800x3D is BUT to see in there use case with likely more gpu bound will they gain anything at all with the 7800x3D or not.
That’s why some people still
inquire about 4k. It doesn’t help some viewers to see 1080p results as they don’t care if there are gains at 1080p. They want to see if there are gains at the 1440p or 4k.
EDIT: Btw, I want to thank AMD for sending the 5700X3D!
Finally bringing you a new CPU comparison after 250+ videos! Now delivering some productivity results as well! Let me know your opinions on these benchmarks!
Pretty good way of showing the benefits of performance per dollar in gaming, while also the draw backs of x3D memory in productivity applications. Also great comparation between last gen and new gen x3d chips. Good work!! 👍🏻🙂
Just goes to show you that you can still have a cpu produce in both gaming and productivity. Save some money and just get the 3D models. You don’t have to have top of line CPU/GPU to produce content or enjoy gaming.
How do I know if Resizable bar is activated. I have an AM5 MSI motherboard. I did activate resizable bar in bios, But in TechPowerUP GPU-Z, It says it didn't activate in bios.

It is just insane someone like you has created well over 250 videos, and not simple gameplay videos but actually filled with data, testing and analysis, and is still a relatively small/mid sized youtuber. Keep it up Fábio!

I have actually 800+ videos haha, but the last time I made a cpu comparison was like 250 videos ago haha
loving my 5800X3D which I bought before the 5700X3D existed...

I built a 7800X3D 7900XTX 32GB DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 in February thanks to your excellent work. Works like a charm 🤝
I have similar build but instead of 7900 XT I bought 7800 XT and more ram (64GB).
Got exactly same set-up. Bought in store for 2000 euro. Works perfect with Quest 3.
do you play at 1440p? I have the 58x3d instead cuz at the time it was the better value. wonder if upgrading would be worth it at this point
@@_N4VE_ If you get over 60 fps on 1440p I would wait. With my set 1440p gives me over 120fps.
@@_N4VE_ 7800 XT is great 1440p card but... I'm Total War fan, I have only one display 5120x1440p and looks like I can play even on 120Hz in newest TW games on almost highest settings. I'm planning to upgrade PC with 1 or 2 generation newer CPU/GPU in the future. I hope AM5 will support future generations for next 3-4 years.
Yessssssss! Been waiting for a comparison like this, thank you good sir!
Thank you as well!

Damn, I thought this video was family friendly but I just witnessed Fabio Pisco straight up murder half of the CS2 player base. Valve is NOT going to be happy.
Recently upgraded from a 2600X to a 5800X3D
I have a 3060 Ti and I wasn’t expecting real gains on the gaming front but the difference in smoothness is crazy, my 1% and 0.1% lows are waaaaaaaaay better then they where.
Thank you for the great vid 💪🏼👌🏼
Well, even if you upgraded 2600x->5600, you'd get 50% higher 1% lows. 2600x is petty slow CPU these ays, as modern games are very demanding.
I have the same combo. Try low resolution like 1024x768 without anti-aliasing, and you will see the phenomenal power of this cpu. :D
It will last to the DDR6 generation platforms, i'm sure.
@@stangamer1151 i see a lot of gains going from 5950x to 5800x3d, im amazed.
I am actually looking to upgrade in almost the exact same way, currently on my 2600X with a RTX 2070 but i just ordered an 4070 Super and am looking to go to either an 5800- or 5700-X3D as soon as possible : )
nice. funny story how i got my r7 5700x3d , dude bought it and used it for few days and wanted to return it but he throw box in garbage ,so store wont accept return . so he just sold it on facebook marketplace 70 euros off , and i sold my r5 5600 for 120 euros soo al together i paid 110 euros for r7 5700x3d upgrade :D btw i went with rx 7900 gre sapphire, solid 2600 mhz OC, feels like i won 2 lottery past 1-2 weeks :D
Damn haha
and yeah 5700x3d here is about 300 euros
I buy my less then $200 at the start of sales direct from China. Braindead CPU, just instal and all works.
I just use PBO -30 curve to all cores. In games 55c, then shaders compilation max i see is 65c.

How is the 5700x3d paired with 7900 gre? i just upgraded to the 7900 gre but i feel like the R5 5600 is holding it back a lot playing at 1080p, is upgrading to the 5700x3d worth it?
@@16Atha im on 1440p and it wasnt like 40% increase in fps but im pretty sure 1% lows are much higher and games are smoothher than r5 5600 for sure, in intesive cpu games u gonna get fps increase , games that use like single core so higher clocks are benefical it will mostly be the same . overall i think upgrade is worth it if u play many games , specialy mmo games , those games like big l3 chache that x3d cpu has :D fps in some cases went like up to 80% increase in heavy cpu enviroment like in wow raid 25 man . check tech spot for comparsion they do intensive games for cpu testing
I really value productivity measurements now that I'm using my PC for more than just gaming. Awesome to see them included.

Thx for the comparison :)
These 1%low results on demanding games makes me happy to rock a 7800X3D. It's been indeed smooth af. I would love a memory tweaking guide tho, I did it for mine but.. likely not the best lol
It still amaze me on how you keep pumping videos that always interesting to me, just wondering but on 1440p the differences would be minimal right?
It depends on your card and your target framerate. If you are aiming for just 60 fps, then even 5700x3D is fast enough for such a task. If you have 120Hz screen, then 7800x3D will be able to offer much smoother experience, especially if your card can do 1440p/120fps.
Wow, great Video! Thanks for including Power Consumption at the end!
The EU prices finally getting low.
Great video and the work you put in is appreciated! I think I’m sticking with my 5700x and 6900xt for a bit, but it’s amazing to see so many great options for the consumer
Liked and subscribed! Incredibly thorough analysis for those wishing to stay on the AM4 or deciding to move onto the AM5 platform. Your video was instrumental in my decision to upgrade to the 5700X3D instead of the 5800X3D purely on a cost to performance basis for my roughly 2-year-old AM4 rig. Almost every other Tech UA-camr out there makes the 5800X3D out as the better buy so I'm glad to see you have a different opinion and are willing to stand by and justify it. Went from a used 3600X to a used 5600X to a brand new 5700X3D. Objective was to get a great 4K gaming experience, so most of the funds saved on the upgrade path went to purchasing a 48-inch 120Hz 4K OLED TV and an RTX 4090. I mainly paly single player role playing games and an occasional first-person shooter or two. Objective is to achieve at least 60-120 FPS on games with high/ maximum graphical fidelity for an immersive 4K gaming experience. Incidentally, my last video card was a GTX 1080 and I was using it on a 3440x1440 monitor. With the exorbitant prices of top tier GPUs these days, it makes sense to have a clear and concise idea of the graphical frequency and fidelity you'd like to game at and purchase a GPU that can maintain that performance for at least 5 years. My previous GPU saw me through 2 different generations of CPUs and i hope my current GPU does the same or better.
Much needed!
Great video as always man love it. I wonder if we can use the full potential of 5700x3d on b450 like ds3h from gigabyte as it only support pcie gen 3.
Yo great test ive been planning to check some results for AGES as i use a 5800x3D myself THX man
Agreed 100%! Super cool video! Well Done!
Been waiting for this comparison !! On point brother 🫡👌🔥
7800X3D has double the L2 cache which is even faster than L3 but used 5800X3D costs much less and it's easy to find
All zen4 have double l2 cache vs zen3
I just got this video recommended to me a hour after posted and it was just on my radar since Im considering upgrading from a 3800x amd cpu. I have a rtx 4090 so I think I might just wait to see how the new amd cpus x3d version compares to upgrade to the new platform. For the workload I currently do and the games I play the upgrade would still not make much sense yet. Also I like how you showed other benchmarks like 7zip and others besides gaming. I think many other reviewers forget that the cpus arent just for gaming alone or even just rendering. Doing lots of basic tasks can get tedious so seeing the speed comparison was really nice. Instant sub hopefully Ill catch the new cpu reviews in a similar format.
Excellent benchmarks, for 1080p. Was SAM enabled aswell?
Yes, of course
thanks. finally someone with power consumption comparison. especially including idle
Thank you as well
THANK YOU! This is THE best setup for me! Ive been languishing on my 5600x/3070, I've got a much better understanding thanks to you series of test. The GPU paired with all my current options is just so appreciated! I can see the most cost effective upgrade as the 5700x3d/7900xtx, well after looking around i guess im still in the same spot, with the exception the 5700x3d is my cheapest best upgrade for my current system and doesn't feel like a waste of money as it could be handed down once i move to AM5.
Nice video. Just talked about 5800X3D vs 7800X3D performance with a friend yesterday. This video came in handy to show him... Thanks
I have been debating on updating my 5800x3d but I’m thinking of making it a supporting build streaming system for home and looking to build a power efficient powerhouse am5 build (Itx that can be taken with me on my contract work. So with that said what do you think about the ryzen 9 7900 none X variant? At 65 watts I wonder if it would make a fun console sized gaming pc that could pull off a little extra multitasking. And just picked up the MINISFORUM bd790i with the 7845x chip I believe. It’s an Itx board that I wasn’t sure if you knew about it or had any suggestions?
I appreciate your time, and please know that your content is SO DETRIMENTAL! I am always glad to see your videos. Always clear and to the point whilst offering a realistic approach to your descriptions. Have a blessed day!💪🤓
Do you recommend I change to that processor? I currently have the 5800x3d, would it have more fps/performance at 1440p?
I know it might not be much but I know people want to see the 1440p difference with high end Gpu. Always great content!
It is explained in the intro
It’s not worth the upgrade. I went from 5800x3d with 4090 @4k to 7800x3d with 4090 @4k and only gained maybe 10-15 FPS on average. Don’t see it worth anything past 1080 in my opinion.
@@AncientGameplays my bad I was drinking lol

Can you please tell me if the 7945HX or 7800x3d is better given both are the same price?
The Bd790i from minisforum is really tempting.
Would appreciate if you could give me your opinion.
hello fabio, been watching you since i bought my 7900xt back in july 2023. At first i was shocked how well everything worked especialy DRIVERS. I even wondered why amd was known to have driver issues. but lately since they introduced AFMF im having problems constantly with drivers in some games especialy in BF2042 and CS2. I used DDu and got 23.11.1 drivers as I think they were the most stable ones, so i just wanna know your opinion on drivers ? should i keep them or do you know other drivers that are more stable ?
7800x3d cpu and everything on stock not OC.
Odd, they been working fine here too. Maybe you need to update chipset drivers? Or maybe it is your windows installation
i've got 2 computers i have been debating on up grading to 5000 series cpu or building new computers all together. now i know what i'm doing forsure an upgrade. as it should last me and my son another 5 years. thanks for the awesome comparisons
in couple games the diferrence between 5700x3d and 5800x3d was like 20%. So that extra 400mhz had such strong impact? thought the dif would be like 2 to 4%

Hahaha, next time i put 2 boxes on the left side
Just got a 5700X3D earlier this month (with a new 7900 GRE no less) and have seen a bunch of games pushing the CPU to 100%, making me wonder if an overclock is in order.
Would you suggest overclocking it and if so, then how and by how much?
I've got an ITX build: 5600X/6700XT/32GB-RAM in a mesh case with aNoctua NH-L12S cpu cooler.
What were the temp differences between tge 5700x3d and 5800x3d?
I'm thinking of upgrading at tge end of the year, but don't want the machine to get too loud.
Great job, well done! It is not a major thing, but also do consider including 1440p in a future review, although I do know it is a lot of work.
Thanks but Its not about resolution, but about the gpu. If your GPU could do the same exact fps at 4k that this one does at 1080P the results would be equal. Look at total warhammer 3. That's how it would be at 4k.
Absolutely spot on summary, love my AM4 setup, 5700X3D being an excellent upgrade, extending the usable life of my AM4 board and DDR4 ram

Do you think that 5700x is a good pair with gpu's like a 7900 xt (in the future) for 1440p gaming or an 5700x3d will make a real difference ?
In your case the gpu needs an upgrade first. The 5700x will suffer at first in most games, but will be fine overall at 1440P eith that card

Thx for the video. I really want to upgrader to the 5700x3d soon
I have a question that I'm sure I'll never find online I'm sure, so I'll start by asking here. What's better for running a gaming server an ****x3d chip or the normal ****x chip. I'm confusing myself because I know the extra cache on the x3d chips are good for gaming, but does it translate to running the game server or is higher clock speed (more instructions per cycle) more important to game servers. Let's talk heavily modded Minecraft as that's probably the most CPU demanding server I got.
I ask because I want to build a dedicated gaming server PC when the next Ryzen CPUs comes out that will run 24 7 and sometimes but not often more than just one server. And my 8700k PC a had laying around is choking on the heavily modded Minecraft server.
Dear Fabio thank you very much for your hard work. That's a deep analysis between these CPUs, i'm grateful for your continuous hard work, as always. However, if you could add benchmarks for some other CPUs (such as Ryzen 3600x/3700x and 13k intel i7/i9) in your comparisons, that would make a great reference point for people considering to do a CPU upgrade for their AM4 systems. Intel parts would give a general reference point for intel users. Thanks again for your hard work and keep it up mate.
For the comparisons I will only show the main CPU being compared (with some references), the ones with ALL the CPUs I have will be the reviews (different videos). I still have CPUs left to test though
Thank you for this! Do you recommend I get a 5900X in 2024? It's pretty cheap at 300$, getting it for the same price as a 7700 in my country.
And I have an AM4 motherboard so I won't have to change the motherboard entirely. Currently using a 5600.

@@AncientGameplays I was going to say, I'm pretty jealous if you were able to get that much out of it and be stable
Hey! Could you test these processors in Emulation? It would be great to see how much difference there is in performance.
In that case the 7800x3d is much better due to having avx512
Hi! I would be glad, if you could try RPCS3, it is really cpu demanding!
Is there a significant difference if the reso is 1440p?
I know this is more gpu dependent but I just want to know if need to upgrade my CPU (5700x), and currently playing at 1440p
Read the pinned comment, will help
Great video as always Fabio! Maybe you can make a comparison with processors of the same generation like 7600x, 7700x and 7800X3D, im so curious about the results!!
Will come!
@@AncientGameplays nice!!
This is EXACTLY the comparison i was waiting for!! I was trying to figure how much was the difference between 5800x3d and 7800x3d with the 7900xtx, and since i have a 5800x3d ive made my mind to upgrade to a 7900xt to max fps with my 1080p and 1440p monitors! Thanks again Fabio!!! ❤
One last question... has intel get in touch with you???
Hi man I got a question,
I already have a 5800X3D with X570 rig, I have a old Ryzen 1700 sitting in my X370 ASUS Crosshair VI Hero which I'm planning to upgrade and giving it to my wife. Should I buy another 5800X3D or the 5700X3D for the X370 board? Both are on sale but there's a $100 diff.
yep, just update bios to last version before installing (I suggest 5700x3d). and also you should tune PBO settings
Sorry, do you have an explanation somewhere for the "Tweaked" 7800X3D
I'm quite interested because it can provide some great improvements on several games
It is basically just improved subtimings, watch my video of how to get free performance with all ryzen cpus
I love it when your tests use the same hardware i have! 7900xtx & 5800x3d.
The CPU upgrade made a massive difference to sim racing where you have 40-60 cars on a track. With my old CPU (3800x) I had massive stutters whenever there were more than 30 cars.
With this combo there has been nothing I can't play at ultra settings.
But the 5800x3d is terrible at video rendering using Corel Studio. It always uses 100% of the cpu and is sooo slow.
Yeah, in things were cache isn't used it is slower than the normal 5800x
"But the 5800x3d is terrible at video rendering using Corel Studio. It always uses 100% of the cpu and is sooo slow."
-Sounds like you don't have GPU hardware acceleration on or you are using too old version lacking radeon support. Either way it's not fault of 5800X3D. What I quickly tested, 5800X3D + RX6800 had no performance issues with Corel Studio 2023. Not in editing side or rendering.
This is awesome, but I’d really love to see this comparison with a midrange gpu like the GRE
it all about the FPS output, with less FPS output (slower card or higher res/settings) the CPU matters less.
Read the pinned comment :D
Bro in horizon forbidden west it is not letting me enable xess native aa can you please try on amd card and reply???
i can enable it in the launcher but when I go in-game it's taa
Awesome my friend
Thank you so much for this comparison. I have a 5800X3D paired with a 7900XTX, if I didn' t have a AM4 build (Same PC since ryzen 5 3600 era) I would go straigh to AM5, but I choose to expend the money on the GPU instead of upgrading. I would love to see if games in 1440p and 4k have the same impact.
resolution doesn't matter, FPS does. BUT, with the same GPU, higher resolution = less FPS, so the CPU matters less or most times, nothing
Never apologise for the length of an indepth and informative video. 😀
I'm looking to build a new PC (current PC: 3800x, 5700xt) in the coming months and because of this video in combination with my research I'll definitely get the 7800X3D.
Seeing as I am in no particular rush to game in 4K on my TV would you personally recommend waiting for newer graphics card generations to (for example) reduce the price of the 7900XT?
I am currently not interested in ray tracing at all. I only care about rasterisation performance.
If you're in no hurry you should wait for RDNA4 (RX 8000 series), they seem to aim at price/performance
@@AncientGameplays cheers!
Great video, and nice methodology for testing. I bought in aliexpress the 5700x3d for 180€. So its a nice option if you are tied with budget.
Great work, Tuga do crl! 🤣🤣💪
💪💪
Smiles in "didn't waste money on ddr5 ram and a new board" for gains that are imperceptible in real world scenarios!
but you will have to upgrade at some point anyways? am4 has maxed out, people that already upgraded to am5 will get a few more generations with it. your comment actually doesn't make sense lol.
@@tomgreene5388 Lol yeah in 2-3 years. Normal people don't live on the bleeding edge.
@@tomgreene5388 yeah the comment was for like 90% of users who don't upgrade a PC to gain a few percentages. I mean hell look at the steam user reports people still using an GTX 1650 and rtx 3060. Do you think they are running those gpus on ddr5 and am5 or lga 1700 CPUs? 😂 In my case I use the PC just to game so my Rx 6800 and ryzen 5700x will hold me up another 2 years 1440p no issues not highest in the world but I ain't taking on gods either
@@SecretlySeven true i didn't think about it like that. brokies love coming up with ways that they are glad they didn't upgrade or how its actually a good thing to stay generations behind. lolllll.
nobody cares poor boy
Great job 👏🏽 I'm still thinking of going with the 7800x3d since I need to upgrade my entire gaming computer
It's worth doing upgrade now. Done it 2 weeks ago with this CPU. Works amazing and price is good.
@@michaeldidikof634 awesome. I'm going to buy the parts slowly. Hopefully, before the end of the year, I'll have a new gaming computer. Love the xenogears image! Fei is awesome 👌🏾
yay a CPU comparison!! also super late upload lol I was about to goto sleep
I am going now haha
Hello Fabio! I've waited for this comparison for a while so I want to thank you for showing what the Ryzen 7 7800X3D can do. I'm planing to upgrade next month from a ryzen 7 5800x3D to AM5. The difference in many games is pretty noticeable and I think my old corsair aio cooler h110i rgb pro xt will work just fine on the 7800x3d as well. Amazing content, great job!
Glad to help!
well I dont think going to am5 is worth as you have to switch mobo and ram especialy if you already have 5800x3d. if you play on 1080p maybe yes but on 1440p and 4k not worth at all. I dont think you play at 1080p if you already have the best am4 cpu.
@@arbernuka3679 thank you for the reply,I also plan to buy an RTX 4080 super from a RTX 3080. I want to do this because I don't want to have a CPU bottleneck in my sistem.
Could you tell me what the difference is in gaming performance with a 7800 X 3D processor but on different motherboards? There is no such comparison. How do games look like on a board with the B 650 vs X 670 chipset?
Is it worth paying extra for a motherboard? I think that there are not many such comparisons on the Internet and it would be very helpful for many players when choosing a motherboard.
The difference is basically null and even cheaper boards can use the power draw the 7800x3s needs. It is worth for longer updates, pcie5, more nvme slots, better thermals and so on
i know it makes sense from a testing standpoint to test at 1080p but i would also love to know if a new cpu would do anything for me at 1440p, perhaps comparing a 5600x to the am4 3d chips at 1440p might be a future video idea? this gives people insight on whether jumping on a 5800x3d vs a whole socket upgrade and everything that comes with it. thanks, gg videos
The resolution doesn't matter mate. Because a 7700xt will bottleneck you at 1080P with these CPUs the same way a 7900XT would bottleneck you at 1440P. It all comes to fps output you want. Thanks for watching
@@AncientGameplays I get that my 6800xt is my bottleneck at 1440p but I was wondering if an upgrade to an x3d chip would actually be worth it in terms of cost vs performance. From what little info there is out there it seems that there is some uptick in fps to varying degrees depending on the game of course. Most people "say" it isn't worth it but no reputable source with actual detailed comparisons.
Ah man I needed this comparison 2 weeks ago when I was about to buy my 5700x3d as I was struggling between 5700x3d and 5800x3d
You can get the 5800x3d, a motherboard and 16 gig kit of 3200 mhz ram from microcenter for 349 with their bundle deal currently, and almost always. Currently paired with a TUF B550 plus
So, worth the upgrade 😊 Already done it. to benefit from ddr5 bandwidth and stronger cpu. a little pricy. gaming @2k most of time.
Olá. Eu uso o Premiere (45%) e jogo Fortnite (35%), Photoshop e Illustrator (10%) e outras coisas (10%).
Will you do a comparison on very used cpus like R5 3600, 5600 and 5700x VS 5700X3D? I'm interested in buying the 5700X3D to replace 3600.
I wonder.....do you have benchmarks for the 7900X3D vs 7800X3D focusing more on productivity than gaming?
I do not own the 7900x3d
This is what I need right now ❤
