how can one get tired of listening to Svidler ? Great guy
He answered the duck/horse question, i love him
Awesome! Love: GM Peter Svidler, GM Jan Gustafsson and Chess24!
Jan look so cool when he is serious.
Two of my favourite people from the chess world. Both of them are so witty, intelligent and modest.Lots of respect from India.
You are awesome, Peter. You are by far mi favorite player of the elite group.
GM Svidler's candour in answering questions is refreshing to watch. I would love to have asked him about visualization and blindfold skills and how that develops into the upper echelons of chess ability - next time perhaps! Anyway, it was a thoroughly enjoyable hour and a half's viewing, so thanks for that!
It was a pleasure to watch! Thanks chess24 and GM Svidler!
Such a great guy, always thoughtful and honest with his answers and interesting to listen to.
And now, EIGHT TIME Russian champion.
That was an excellent answer to the horse and duck question. I love how Peter takes it just as seriously as the others xD
I'm overwhelmingly impressed with both Peter and Jan based not only their super GM chess abilities but also their fluency in multiple languages.
23:38 I laughed hard! "I did some research" :D LOL
Great ! Thank you for answering my (Schachspieler) questions :-)
Nice video, enjoyed it very much.
Svidler is amazing, best chess comentator ever.
Both really cool guys!!
Jan working also as a grammar corrector (not for Svidler obviously :)
You mean a Grammar Nazi? :D

My question for Svidler would be: How did you learn English so well? Your English is great!
I noticed that too, his accent is stunning. Almost like native
I would like to know that too.
1:05:26 Mistakes or misconceptions that stand in the way of ~1700 players & solid openings advice.
Haha a that buildup to tv series and I was poised ready to see which chess videos I should watch to improve my game...
Then they compare the wire to breaking bad! Classic :D
Super GM Svidler is quite a guy. Excellent Q&A with a sense of humor. Best Book? My vote is for GM L. Pachmann's Modern Chess Strategy. Helped me to get to Master level in my high school years.
You know you're scrapping the bottom of the barrel in terms of quality of questions when I see these gems, "Dear Peter, would you rather fight one horse-sized duck or 100 duck sized horses?" Hilarious stuff. And yes, I know it was a joke! :D
Peter what do you think of a player like Bobby Fischer both as player and as person??
By the way to be more serious....People who want to be better tacticians SHOULD try to play the King´s gambit. Maybe not a sound opening but extremely aggressive and exciting to play.....
What, if anything, can or should be done about the trend toward draws in round after round in tournaments? Is there a way to force players to play for a win? Are computers killing the game?
lol why does Jan always ask that duck, horses question? he asked the same question to Paco Vallejo in his Q & A video.
I missed it!
21:00 Psyko-bable!
52:30 I feel so sad, considering he was a teensy single draw away from making it. And he'd definitely have produced more thrilling chess than Sergei.
How would a horse attack a person? Headbutting? Stomping over the person? Kicking? I'm thinking about the amount of strength a horse can exert relative to its size and trying to shrink that down to the size of a duck. I mean, ants can carry so many times more than their body weight. Imagine a duck sized ant. I think it might actually kill people if it had a few tweaks (lifting =/= killing).
Would the legs of a duck collapse if the duck grew as large as horse? I think if we just blew up the anatomy of a creature without regards to physiology, that would be very detrimental to the health of the creature. Like, humans who are 7 feet tall have hearts that work much harder. Now imagine a 20 feet tall human. That human will die. So if we just blew up the size of a duck in every way, would the duck just die?
57:39 *Learning is good* :P
"What do you think about Loom?" wtf :-)
But I wonder what Viktor Korchnoi would have answered. ;)
Peter doing his Pop impersonation...win more matches lol
I give Svidler a 99/100... if he said, "Watch 'Archer', I COMMAND YOU!" he would have scored a perfect 100. ;}
So you d rather play one 3200 ELO than 100 1500s? No way...
Ha ha ha if Bobby Fischer got that question with the ducks and the horses, he would probably say that those God damned jews should be kept out of the question-hours!! ;) ;) Sorry that one felt good for my right leg.... ;)
slivder Final copa Del Mundo quien lo diría ;:=)
Svidler, what's with the gay earring?
lol why does Jan always ask that duck, horses question? he asked the same question to Paco Vallejo in his Q & A video.
