Its crazy you chose to react to this live version, this was one of the best live recorded solos on guitar throught a 7 min song all year and in the last few years
Neil Young wrote & Recorded “Cortez The Killer” in 1975 & released it on his “Zuma” LP with his backing band Crazy Horse. It’s roughly 7 & a half minutes long. Young loved to jam.
Carter (drummer) is ALWAYS smiling. One of the best drummers ever! There's better versions of this with Warren Haynes but it's still good. Live is where DMB shines, where you get to see the talent and the love and respect they have for each other. One of my favorite all-time bands, hands down.
Don't need more barn on this one, that's for sure! (That was originally a quote from Neil. He had stacks set up in the barn and by the farmhouse and was directing the soundman from a canoe in the pond; "I need more barn!")
@@PSi-fp8ve It was almost like a spiritual journey. I decided to close my eyes a few times and I felt like I was being transported to another world. It made the hairs on my arms stand up. I'll never forget it.
This video seems a little lonely so I thought I'd give it some love. No, it may not better than the original but I really appreciate it for what it is. I feel like it is just trying to celebrate Neil Young. I may not know a lot from this band but I loved seeing Dave's lack of ego. He just stood to the side and let Warren shine. I really loved that. There was a video by Dave Matthews called Everyday where a man is just trying to hug strangers on the street. He gets pushed away a lot but he keeps striving to do it. He just wants to put love out there and it finally does come back to him. People take that risk.... that leap of faith.... and agree to hug a stranger. Sadly, I can't find this video on YT anymore.
A total thing of beauty for sure, Warren is a national treasure...you can pick up the vocals from the Neil version. Since you loved and felt the emotion, i would recommend Floyd's comfortably numb from the Prism.
While Warren Haynes got all the shine in this performance, Tim Reynolds is an amazing guitarist as well. Hopefully someone brings him your way if you haven't heard him yet. The DM/TR live albums have some stellar acoustic lead playing.
Live at MSG 2018 is a cool version of this song by this collaboration in fact one of my favourites for sure . Also agree that Neil live doing this is a killer ❤
A better version of this collaboration is the Live from Central Park version of Cortez IMO. Tack on the next song they played that night with Warren, The DMB song Jimi Thing, and that's one helluva half hour of great music.
Lee check out the tribute concert One for Woody, Roseland ballroom NYC. ABB, Black crowes, Phil lesh and friend and a bunch of others. You'll be introduced to Jimmy Herrings' Killer Guitar playing with the brothers. I was there and I have never been packed in so tight in a crowd. Show was 5 or more hours.
You don’t have to do react video but check out Warren Haynes and Dave Matthews playing this song at a different show. The title is…DMB Caravan 9.3.11 - “Cortez The Killer” with Warren Haynes
Whoa grew up on Neil's studio version, but dam fine here. Some say Warren has an even better live version - lets find it. His voice is very NY like. Guitarist with a soul get this song. Makes sense why so many fine artist gig it. After listening to this L33, you can really have two amazing journeys with both versions. Neil and DM Live. Impressed. Lets not forget the other Gem out there with Joe Satani, Grace Potter - ua-cam.com/video/paeNnR33i5Q/v-deo.html
This is a pretty good cover but Neil Young and Crazy Horse have the best version. Also Neil Young and Crazy Horse performing "Like a Hurricane", Down by the River, Cinnamon Girl, or "Powderfinger" would be good songs to react to.
Yeah I like Warren and I like Neil but I love Grace Potter! Check out her young self doing this accompanied by Joe Satriani on guitar and a fantastic trumpet player with her singing and banging on he B3 ua-cam.com/video/paeNnR33i5Q/v-deo.html and then go down the Grace Potter rabbit hole.
@@L33ReactsThe cover by Joe Satriani with Grace Potter on vocals is worth the time. An all star lineup for that one. Built To Spill does a cover as well that will challenge even the most avante garde ear... pack a lunch for that one.
Warren Haynes is a master guitar player., from the Allman Brothers, to Gov't Mule etc.He rates with some of the top guitarist of all time.I have had the pleasure of seeing him many times.Including 3 row at Red Rocks. 🥁☮☘
I think I saw their pick-ups sparking and smoking! Too sexy!! Too sexy!!! Wishbone Ash - The King Will Come Blue Öyster Cult - Take Me Away Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Powderfinger Pat Travers Band - Born Under A Bad Sign The Cult - Love
I was at this concert! DMB in an amphitheater is so zen. The vibes are so great. Seen them 22 times.
You need to see Derek trucks together with DMB, so good
This was written and performed by Neil Young. I think you should take the time and hear that because it's pretty essential.

Warren gets his pick of guitars straight from the Gibson factory, and every musician that knows respects Warren Haynes!
Amen!

really ought to check out some of Warrens work in the Allman Bros with Derek Trucks!!

More dave please. Jimi thing with warren is unmatched.
Me and my sister went to this show. We've seen DMB perform live over 100 times through the years. Good pick.
What was it like hearing that guitar solo live?
Cause with the bass that mustve been cra,y cause Warrren Buffett played that so clean

Dude this was a crazy performance of this song fr
Great reaction!! I am really glad you enjoyed this..
I was excited to see the Title until I realized this wasn’t Neil Young’s Version ☹️
This was even better !

10:49 i do the exact thing everytime i hear Warren pull that trick out lol
Always best to start with the original.
You've GOTTA do Gary Moore live - The Messiah Will Come Again !
Oh i gotta look at that one , instead of dear prudence I was gonna make a remix dear Jesus wth a fire and rain into
You seen jelly roll- fire and rain freestyle?
I think you'd really enjoy Warren and DMB doing Jimi Thing. 😊

Make sure to do the Neil version off Live Rust.
I just had a religious experience
Saw Neil Young do this live.

absolute wrong video....."Live In Central Park" was the Magical performance
Didn't work.
Absolute wrong comment.
What? Got to react to Neil Young. Warren is fantastic but I'm not a big fan of Dave Matthews Band. Must listen to Neil Young w/Crazy Horse Live 1979.
Nah, just nah.
A mediocre band doing a cover of a great song
Perfection. What a great tribute to Neil.
Neil Young the original please
Oh it's coming don't worry....

I used to frequent the Central Park version and still do as its insane too but Warrens solos on this one blow it outta the water imho
As great and respectful this is, it mostly inspires me to listen to Neil’s original
Love your reaction as always tho bro👍
