I saw B.C. a lot in the 80s and they were - and remain - the greatest live group I've ever seen (there have been a lot). But if I was to be given just one gig, to relive every day for the rest of my life, it would be this one. Absolutely magnificent and quite unsurpassed.
@@gareth630 lol mate ;) or a wee shin dig in dunfermline just us family and friends that knew them. thats mine anyway. but i bet some people would kill for my memorries lol
Westy Saw the boys 25 times consider myself extremely lucky. Was also here at Dingwalls the night they filmed the show. Shows the Diversity of the greatest live band I ever see. One regret not seeing them at Barrowlands. Some never got to see them at all tho!
was drinking some cans of corona with stuart in an irish pub yesterday, home of the brave, he flashes music through my veins and brain, and it's all ok he said, we´re all go to heaven, but never die.
I absolutely LOVE this band! I wish I had known them way back when. Oh well, I missed Freddie Mercury too, if you can believe that! I'm making up for lost time though. R.I.P......Freddie and Stuart.
Big Country was basically banned from airplay in the United States because "Flame of the West" was critical of Ronald Reagan. Been looking to that news article for years, but that's why they aren't as well known.

treceratops: Believe me, BC might not have been as huge here as some other acts from that era but they have their share of devoted, never-failing AMERICAN fans. I've been a HUGE fan since I first heard "In A Big Country" on the radio, and I am now, thirty years on. And always will be. God bless 'em.
3qrtnorth It’s great to know the band has a solid following across the pond as they have here. Once your hooked there’s never been anything quite like em since. Unique, classy and musically so talented.
What an awesome song, will live forever. My local station, during the Iraq war, was asking for song requests. I dared them to play this. No surprise, too chicken to do that. The best anti war song ever!
Im a musciain..I just do not understand how some one who had all this could end it ...the way Stuart did..I will never understand it ..he gave us sooo much..I dont think he understood what he meant to his fans..RIP MR. Adamson.
+Peter Lowe - you've got it a bit backward ... Appalachian folk has it's roots in the Gaelic folk at the heart of Big Country's music. (except for the Arabic percussion in the mix of course :) )
Well I wasn't expecting that! Not surprised to see Bobby Valentino involved given his Men They Couldn't Hang connections. Not sure about this yet, but worth a few listens.
Hahahaaaaaaaa !!!! JL
SuperPissflaps It was him. I was there that night. Afterwards he was signing picts of himself. I pissed myself laughing cos I thought it looked like him as well. Was at Dingwalls Camden lock incredible night.
@locheelad2 aaaahh.......this is an ANTI WAR song............it was written about the British involvement in Falklands Islands fiasco....and unfortunately this version does not have the power of the original. I saw BC live in '84. this pales by comparison.

Bobby Valentino magic. Plus Stuart energy. AMAZING!

Violinist is Bobby Valentino from the Fabulous Poodles and the Electric Bluebirds.
Wonderful!!!!!
Brilliant. Totally different from any other versions. ❤️❤️
amazing drum solo by Mark @ 2:43
I have given this a few listens and it is actually very good - Almost appalachian folk roots feel to it A good song anyway you cut it - LOVE IT !

SUPERB SONG! VERY well played
Our name will never die as time will be for ever,
Stuart Adamson put together a Sessions Band many, many years before Bruce Springsteen cottoned on that it is extremely good fun...
RIP stuart,13yrs ago today
The violinist played on The Bluebells "Young at Heart" as well. He actually wrote the intro to that,
Yes, RIP Stuart. You were gone too soon.

Shows the diversity of superb musicians and musicianship to be able to do a cover of their own song.
Don’t get me wrong I’m a huge fan but this rendition does nothing for
