I concur! Great music to have in your back pocket for every life situation growing up and learning how to process emotions. I have known every word and note to the debut album since 1987, when I was 5. I’d record Melissa-esque songs I made up on my duel cassette deck.
I just saw her 60th birthday concert in LA!
The only straight couple there and we danced out asses off!!! I have been in love with her music since I was 12! That’s 36 years!!!!
I heard a prerelease of her debut album at a Hi Fi store in Katonah N.Y a week before public release , I was hooked and had to have it , that week wait was hell , I went to that store everyday on my way home from work to listen until I could own it myself , I have over 3000 albums in my collection including everything ME I can get my grubby fingers on .

Shocking. Melissa Etheridge's voice sounds the same now as it did when she first released her material. Just as strong now as it was before. Listened to this track a few times now and it's a song which is growing on me.

Ms Etheridge came to the St. Louis area pretty recently when this song came out. She was visiting a lady who was reopening her small restaurant in the Ferguson, MO city, and did a small set there--- that's the city, a St. Louis suburb, with a difficult recent history, the Mike-Brown police shootings, and subsequent race-connected riots of 2014. I'm sure she did it out of her own heart, not for any big paycheck I'm sure. I'm so thankful for having her represent lgbt+ America, and she'll likely never fully or broadly know what seeds of goodness and progress she's sown.

This tune roped me in as soon as I heard that sexy, bluesy, guitar intro, hot damn!! Been listening to M.E. as soon as I heard "Like The Way I Do" & "Bring Me Some Water" on the radio back in 1988! She's just as great now as she was back then & her voice is still amazing! If the 3 new songs I've heard, & I love all 3, are any indication to what the entire album is going to be like ..... it will be shooting to the top to join my other most fav M.E. albums!
