I'm a little late to the party, but I love my CRV! There is a reason one can barely drive a mile, in the average US town, without seeing at least one Gen2 CRV. One of the best cars ever. Definitely the best I've ever owned. I've got an 04 with a standard transmission. I am absolutely committed to keeping this car in good working order... for the rest of my life. I'm 55 now, and I'm confident I can keep the CRV on the road for 30 more years, no sweat. If you know, you know. They are AWESOME!

@@ron4413 I'm at 195000. Since my comment, I've put The CRV in the shop for $5000 if repairs and maintenance. New AC compressor, all for struts, brakes, rotors, wheel bearings, and a bunch of other once-in-a-car's-lifetime stuff. It didn't bother me a bit. Now, I've basically got a new 2004 CRV. She runs and handles like the day she rolled off the lot. Did I mention I love my CRV?

I’ve had my 2002 CRV since new. Only two parts have failed: an O2 sensor and a knock sensor. I replaced them myself. Cost: about $200. That’s the total repair cost of 22 years ownership (excluding regular maintenance and wear items like tires.)

Getting ready to pick up my third Gen 2 CRV. Bought a 4wd EX auto new in 2002. Had it for 8 years, put a lot of miles on it. Bought my second (2005 2wd) in 2017. I bought it totaled, as it got hit by a tree. Fixed it up, drove it a while, sold it to a friend that needed good cheap transportation. My third is a 2005 EX Auto 4wd, picking up in 2 days. Only 166K. Every service record since new. Cannot wait to be back in a CRV again. Take care all.

Excellent review. But that speed shift. Ooof...I felt that all the way over here!!
I've been recommending these to anyone who asked me, "What's a good used car?" I finally decided to get on, and held out for the 2005 facelift version. Trailered it home from the SF Bay Area yesterday, and couldn't be happier with the purchase. It's the 5spd, AWD, sunroof model, 1 owner, no accidents, all original. Paint color is a little darker than the bright silver that they came in; sort of an "anthracite" metallic silver color. Really nice looking color.

I have a 2003 crv, and I see one everyday on the highway. I enjoy driving it because it is very practical and it says workhorse . lots of spaceat the trunk. it is over 20 years old so it.requires a lot of maintenance, and I just get the parts at the junk yard. great video

I only saw old ladies driving these cars. So I thought they weren’t cool. I was so wrong. They are great, so I bought one. And I love it. Whoever had it before took good care of it. There were some problems. It’s 20 years old. But I haven’t have difficulty finding parts and have been able to do repairs myself.
I don’t know why they can’t make practical cars, at a reasonable price, like this anymore. I love the ground clearance and the AWD too.

You got a deal (these days). It's worth every cent. You can ALWAYS sell it for at least as much as you paid for it, if you ever have to. I hope you don't.
I paid 2800 for my 04, about 7 years ago, I've spent about twice that repairing it since. All once in a lifetime stuff: drive shaft, AC condenser, struts, and a few other things. I don't mind putting a grand or two into it, every year. It's WAAAAAAY less than payments on an equivalent, new car. And the insurance?! I have the legally required on mine, $35 a month.

@@johnafagerquist8235 The best thing about the one I bought was the long list of things the previous owner (a mechanic) already replaced, including: engine, trans, and differential mounts, all 4 axles, struts, stabilizer and anti-sway bars, exhaust system, fuel injectors, plugs, wires, coils, and since he hadn’t gotten around to preemptively replacing the radiator, hoses, and both cooling fans, he included those parts with the car. Naturally, he used all genuine Honda fluids. I’m not crazy about the noisy lifters, but my mechanic said he could adjust them if I wanted. Other than that, I’m tickled pink. (Note: I did wind up replacing the radiator and fans, as they were ready to be changed.)

I have this car and if anything is to break on it it is mostly easy to work on but haven't really been much to fix while i have owned it. but i had to change the clutch at one time and it was much easier than i thought it would be even tho im not a mechanic or anything like that, you just don't give up and you will be able to fix it, litterarly the hardest thing on this was removing the starter but the removal of the gearbox went much more smoothly 🤣.
