Ean Elijah De Guzman yeah true, in terms of actual psp games it was kinda underwhelming but it was a crazy emulator machine. Maybe that’s why I like it so much
psp did just fine, but psv is a real shame,it had so many potential, sony really messed it up,also capcom's new monster hunter series decided to be on the 3ds is a huge impact to the psv, because MH is so iconic on the psp that have a lot of fans. maybe people just prefer cheap mobile games on smartphones instead of all the trouble. maybe people don't really play games in a good fashion. looking back to the psp and psv, they both got great build quality and good hardware to be emulation devices, also community and homebrews are still thriving,me holding my sturdy psp1000 feels like I got all the good times in my hands
I’ve always preferred the DS family of systems. The reasons being a game library unlike any other,It being an ACTUAL handheld/portable console, and it being completely kid friendly while still being fun to adults.I own a Nintendo switch but the DS will always hold a special place in my heart.
Tiger LCD games Vs Nintendo. Tiger also made the Game Com which got discountinued in 2000. Nintendo wins the Handheld War and is still the King of the handhelds.
I would love to see a new Sony handheld released. Preferably, I would like to see it support both physical PSP and Vita games and given Sony's regard to "Go Digital" with the Digital Edition of the PS5 coming up, why not give us the option to not only stream our PS3 and PS4 games but also download our PS5 games to the handheld and essentially give us a portable PS5.
My first Gameboy Color and My first game is Pokemon silver. I am really happy as a fan of Nintendo thank you the gamer you remind my happy childhood memories of my life.
i've always loved handheld gaming. from the GB to the Switch. A personal favorite is the NGPC. I really wanted that one to succeed stateside. Always wanted to try a wonderswan or TurboExpress
My very first console and handheld was the Nintendo DSi. I got when I was 6. My very first game was New Super Mario Bros. DS. I still have them and they still work! I now have a 3DS and Nintendo Switch. Btw I love the use of the different Bowser and Bowser Jr. scenes from the Switch parental controls video. Bowser with an iPhone still baffles me with the screen not breaking.
I remember meeting this boy from UK when I was a kid, (I'm in USA) in 1989 yup was 9 years old, anyway he pulled this thing out that I had never seen before - a handheld gaming system, it was the Atari Lynx... I couldn't believe my eyes as I watched him play BACKLIT FULL COLOR games back when handhelds simply were unheard of. A few years later, I think I was in like 6th grade or something, all the kids were crowding around this guy who had a new "gameboy" - It had just come out.. I remember walking over there and upon seeing it, let out a huge laugh, which of course none of the other kids could understand because they had never seen a handheld before. I simply could not believe that they were making such a fuss over this green colored, black and white screen ! Like this video implies, EVERYONE thinks the gameboy was the first handheld. It just proves that everyone goes for the brand name and they had no clue that Lynx even existed because for some reason, maybe the price or whatever it was, their moms and dads just didn't buy that thing and to this day I will NEVER full understand why. God if I could go back in time and pull out a freakin LYNX that day...I would have had way more friends thats for sure LOL ! Not until the gamegear came out, did I finally see a color screen and man was I surprised, I kept telling them all that a color system came out YEARS earlier and none of them believed me. They all thought the Game Gear was the first color handheld. I mean 1989 that thing was out WAYYYYYYY ahead of its time, Nintendo doesn't do it until 2003 ! over an entire decade ! I even laughed harder when the non backlit gameboy "color" came out and actually sold. You had to attach a light to these things so you could play them in the dark ! Meanwhile the Atari Lynx with its sexy self was being tossed in recycle bins makes no sense at all ! I think Atari was out of business at that point and probably very confused as well. I guess I was one of those lucky kids that actually got to SEE the damn thing and witness its very existence, let alone OWN one.. Unreal how life works, truly surreal...
I remember my first handheld was the Gameboy Color in Dandelion yellow back in 2000 and sadly lost it and recently bought the Pokemon edition with the Pokemon yellow and other games too and still play it from time to time even though angling it to the light to play is irritating sometimes
other handhelds not mentioned include the NEC TurboXpress, Gizmondo, Tapwave Zodiac, the Nvidia Shield, Neo Geo pocket/ Pocket Color, GPD Win series, and lots of Emulation consoles galore!
I grew up with the original DS if i didn't drop it would still be here but now i am a proud owner of a 2 DSI, original 3DS, Nintendo Switch, 2 PS Vita's and a Wii (Wii party will always be the best game) and these are all the things that i have collected in my life. But i am still trying to hassle my sister into giving me her old DS Lite that she threatened to throw out if i ate her cookie dough.
Mobile Games have come to stay and are advancing. In fact, the mobile gaming community is growing by the minute. It's true that there would always be a market for handheld consoles, but they have to make it affordable and make connectivity to TV or mobile easy too.
1:40 There was a Japanese-exclusive Game Boy which featured a lit screen. Indubitably, it was called the Game Boy Light. Also, the 2003 GBASP had only a frontlit screen, not a backlit screen. It's more accurate to say 2005, considering the AGS-101 featured the backlit screen. Also, the Game Gear and Atari Lynx did not have a backlit screen. They had a frontlit screen. The GameCom was barely a competitor. More like that one kindergartner who wants to join the fight between two fifth graders to look cool or something. It was belated, is what I mean.
If I were sony, I will make another psp with a wide screen like that of nintendo switch. Its games should be in discs smaller than that of PS4 or PS5. The catch will be the fact that their disc games will be similar to that of its home console. SO when u buy a game, it can be loaded both in the suggested psp and the home consoles. Of course, with options of digital gaming. This is good so that we can play ps4 or ps5 games without bringing or connecting to the home consoles.
I love handheld games and I wish Sony would make a new portable console. Maybe Microsoft will do it. That would help to bring competition and therefore cheaper prices to the market
Ikr, my psp is legit my favorite handheld of all time (switch lite is a close second) and I wish they made more handhelds but I mean it’s fine. Microsoft will eventually never do it cuz they’re already struggling having dominance against Sony and Nintendo and apparently they’re focusing on only making one product the best they can then just doing 2 products mediocrely
I have a friend that has a vita and just like the psp it’s an amazing emulator machine it’s just that the memory cards held it back for me, also that I’m not that much into jrpg’s unfortunately
MIGIX TD yeah I understand that, i think that the ps vita certainly had a place in the console market but Sony didn’t market it well hence why it barely sold more than the wii u, which is a shame
Hi. My first handle console. It was PS Vita . I had lot of games on it . I wish Sony make new generation of portable console and prefer cloud gaming (PSNOW) .
we need another sony handheld with games like ratchet and clank, jack and dexter, god of war, metal gear etc etc... doesn't have to be 4k also should bring back Playstation Home
Switch should be more powerful. As a fifa addict I really want a console quality fifa on the go. Any of the companies should step up their handheld on to next level. It's not impossible to build a powerful handheld device. There are phones with 16gb ram out there. So I don't see any reason why there can't be a powerful handheld gaming device. Sony and Microsoft could easily make a tablet console. If that's not possible they can make consoles more portable like attaching screen and a battery with a console, at least people can play games on table top mode. Something like a laptop.
Nintendo will always be the king of handheld gaming. I've owned a Game Boy, GB Colour, GB Advance, DS & 3DS, they were all fantastic systems. I also had a PSP & Vita.
The PSP had such potential. It wasn't given the love it deserved
Nope. Sony fudged it up with expensive memory cards.
