- iPhone 13 Mini Review: Should You Buy It in 2024? I’ve got a new phone sitting in my cart. It’s been weeks now, but I still can’t bring myself to push buy. Because many people think it’s a far better phone. But I still love my 13 Mini. I can’t break up with it. Can I? Watch this video and find out if I press buy on what’s in my cart. Got my first iphone ever after 5 years with huawei nova 3. Ended up to get 13 mini and It's great indeed!
Upgraded from the XS to a mint condition Product Red 13 Mini back in January. I knew I was swapping my XS this year, as i thought it was about to lose the latest iOS, but its battery health (or lack of it) hastened the upgrade.
Using a bumper and MagSafe grip - not a fan of full cases - and have got myself quite a few MagSafe accessories. These include a portable charging stand that I can use on the go, and to trigger Standby Mode when I'm home.
Strange to think that this 'Mini' iPhone has the same footprint as my iPhone 7. How times have changed.

Same here, I love the compact size. I don’t have the 13 mini, however I do have the SE 2020. Two great phones overall.

without even seen the video I can totally relate - loving my 12 mini so damn much even though I got a 15 from the company. Such a shame they didn't sell good in the past and discontinued after the 13 mini.

A lot of the haters of the mini haven't used it for a while but I noticed that those who really owned it, loved it. I am also a 12 mini user and the battery life for me is totally acceptable. It is a lot better than the battery life of my previous phone which is the 1st gen SE while still being compact and has all of the features of the bigger 12.

I held onto my iPhone 12 Mini until the battery was shot. I got an iPhone 15 Pro and I wasn’t very impressed. The camera always refused to focus no matter what video I watched that claimed to have the fix. The zoom on the iPhone 15 Pro was absolutely unacceptable given its price and the fact that the Pixel 7 Pro’s camera zoom would let me easily read license plates three blocks away - and still retain full clarity! The screen on the iPhone 15 Pro wasn’t much bigger than my Mini at 6.1”, but I ended up selling my iPhone 15 Pro and got a refurbished 13 Mini on Amazon. I paid $350 vs the $1000 I paid for the 15 Pro and I don’t feel like I’m missing a thing. The 13 Mini performs spectacularly, the camera is more than capable for it’s time of release and price point. I’m going to hang onto this 13 Mini and hope that sometime between now and 2028 when the 13 Mini is obsolete that Apple gives us another Mini.

Its actually smaller overall just more screen than the SE 2nd gen.
Just got the 13 mini used when they discontinued it to make it last a little longer than my 12 mini. So sad to see it go 🥲. Honestly the lack of a sim tray on newer models makes me meh about even a new 13 mini. I will keep it until my messaging apps break even past ios updates dropped.
For bigger screen text and keyboard-settings -display and darkness-display zoom-larger text !
It's always good to have options for customizing your screen and text settings. Not something I love on my 13 Mini though.
I have the iphone x - I am looking to upgrade to a new phone but the market is so demanding on new Iphones, I cannot see myself going to android because I love iPhone and the battery life is amazing. This video is convincing me to buy and Iphone 13 mini because of its size and how compact it is. If I by a iPhone 13 mini how long would this last me for another upgrade?
Apple usually support with iOS updates for 5-6 years, maybe more, after phone release date - that’s the longest support time in the industry

Yup - just my iPhone 13 mini, still putting in the work. Typing on it now :)
I think you are right to hold off from the upgrade - I always skip 2 refreshes so that upgrading feels noticeable. iPhone 16 will have some AI focused enhancements to the chipset - in the pro version, at least - that will should the upgrade feel significant. One thing that you didn't mention is the screen refresh rate. ProMotion makes a huge difference to how smooth everything feels and hopefully apple will have this across their full line up for the next generation.
Hey David :) Personally, I don't miss ProMotion - but I am seeing rumours it will be available on all models - not just the Pro models from 2025. Not sure if that includes the upcoming 16 models. See you soon!
The 16 models will be even bigger than the current 15 gen. It'll apparently go to 6.3" from the current 6.1". Really lacking a smaller option, quite frustrating!
This week I had the 15 Pro in my cart several times. I feel like you the biggest reason to consider the upgrade from my 13 mini is the zoom and camera capabilities. My wife recently upgraded to the 15 ProMax and I found myself being quite jealous. But only for the camera. Nothing else. The size of the mini is exceptional. Will most likely upgrade in the distant future but for now, I will enjoy my phone.

I enjoy my 13 mini, but the battery life, poor low light camera and difficulty typing in the small screen have finally caused me to order a 15 Pro Max. The 13 Mini performs most tasks well enough for me, and I wish I could continue using it, but I need more battery life. I use the camera a lot at night and the Mini’s low light capabilities just aren’t up to par. Plus my big hands mean I’m constantly having to correct my typing errors when I’m lucky enough to catch them before hitting send.

In a day, how often do you charge 13 Mini? And what percentage of Battery Health remains?
Thanks - depending on what kind of a day it is, some days, I don't have to charge. Most days, it needs a top up in the later afternoon - either from my plugged in charger at home or my Apple Magsafe battery. 99% battery health right now, but I got an Apple Care replacement device as the lightning port failed about 6 months ago. Totally stress-free experience getting it replaced.
@@TheTechPacker Damn. How did you keep the battery in pristine condition? Did you rarely use it? Or am I charging mine the wrong way? I charge mine with the Apple leather case on it. Is it bad?
@natebrook Like I say, 6 months ago, it was essentially a fresh new device again. I use it every day, charge it every night, and probably top up charge it 4-5 times a week for a short time every day. Seems to work as a charging strategy for me. Mine has a thin MagSafe case on it. I have also started using a third party MagSafe charger overnight when I am travelling. Does a great job. I have the 14 Pro Max now but I miss the 13 Mini. My only knock on it was the RAM. 6gig would have made it perfect. I never had an issue with the battery as I mainly use a phone as, well, a phone. I also listen to music and podcasts from time to time. That said, the bigger screen on the 14 Pro Max just works for me even though the weight is a pain sometimes. I do miss the little guy though.

I will keep my 12 mini until apps won't work anymore. I really wish Apple would bring back the mini because the regular size phones nowadays are too cumbersome for me.
I have just purchased a new to me iPhone 13 Mini. Had one when they came out, upgraded to the 14 Pro, but I missed the compact size and performance. Especially in summer a small phone is so much easier to manage when taking the dog for a walk. I tend to drop a larger phone anytime my dog jerks my arm LOL. Back to the compact 13 Mini for me!

Do you think 386.91 USD is a bad or good price for a Used Iphone 13 mini with battery health of 86%, and no screen issues or cosmetics issues.
It’s an ok price, I think but I don’t live in US and not familiar with their used market. But personally, I’d be looking for one with at least 90% battery health.
If it’s 128gbs, I think it’s only worth $280 with that battery health

No, there is not
No difference in camera but night and day difference in battery. Iphone 13 battery is like never ending.
I have both model minis in my collection. My daily is the 13 mini with 95% battery health. The back up is the 12 mini with 87% battery health. The size won me over back in 2020 when the 12 mini launched. I will keep both because Apple will never go back to this size ever! Collectible items for sure!
I wish for a 15 Pro mini. I believe that would sell better than the 12/13 minis because customers would feel they were getting a truly no-compromises phone in a small package. Give it all the bells and whistles - 120 Hz refresh, 5x tetra-prism optical zoom, fast charging, the works. Even if it cost more than the 15 Pro, I would buy it without hesitation.
I am NOT looking forward to the SE 4, as it is just going to be a weak, compromised large-bezeled regression to 2021.
i had the iPhone 13mini and loved it,but my speaker was shot and my battery life was done,I had to switch to the iPhone 14 to replace it from Apple because the mini was discontinued,I was sad…the 14 is too big for my hands and I miss my mini,so I went on amazon and ordered an excellent condition used mini and I am going back to using it and returning my 14 or selling it ,I’m hooked on the iPhone 13 mini and hopefully they make a new smaller version at some point,these bigger phones just don’t do it for me with my small hands ,the size is the main reason people love it I believe,I’m one of them
FYI: smaller camera is larger surface area proportional iternal size. Smaller phone would cool faster.
I know theoretically that's true - but that also assumes that the amount of heat generated is equal - I think the 13 mini gets hotter - but I only have my fingertips to vouch for that

I love my 14 Pro... Hmmmmmm... My U.S. phone is 14 Pro. My Philippines in iPhone SE 3 (text/calls/hotspot only). Zero chance I could rollback from an iPhone 14 Pro b/c my projects require Authenticator tied to my work. Autheniticator is painful to setup on a new phone.

@@DannyDeDios A restore to a new phone does not restore the validate authentication clients. The clients are in the app but you have to work with IT for each client to fox them.

You prob won’t get 4 years+ iOS support out of it. iOS support usually goes for 5-6 years after initial release. Waiting won’t help. Highly unlikely there will be another mini anytime soon. Maybe an SE though. Who knows?

Was going to get a 13 mini in product red...and Apple dropped from their line up. I am not a big phone fan. Got a 13 instead. Lovely phone though.

The 13 mini has a bigger display than the SE line. In truly hope the SE4 is a 13 mini. The minis sold better than lots of iPhone models. I have a 14pro and with minimal use it still needs to be charged. It cant make through 2 days of not using the phone on stand by even. All I-phone batteries have become worse due to software updates. If the 16 isnt great & ios 18 doesnt change things. I am over the apple eco system, as of right now its a bug riddled mess.

The 13 Mini has an almost cult-like following. Just replaced the battery in mine with a 3rd. party high capacity (3550mah) one and it is killer. Much longer duration but no battery health or cycle count recognition from the iOS, naturally. The upside is that it dulls the battery anxiety that Apple users are noted for.

it's better to get original battery for replacement. Coz 80% battery health in original is usually the same as 100% 3rd party
