You can't get a good GPU in there for the same price let's be real and in real usage scenarios Sodimms would be $40, the same price as normal sticks and SSDs well they are the same cost for ever device so long as the form factor is constant. But lets say $40 for the case, $70 for the mobo and $40 for the power supply. On an ultrasmall form factor, much cheaper than itx. You also have an upgrade path for this and the form factor means it can attach to monitors using vesa mounts, to anyone not needing a GPU, thunderbolt adapters, capture cards and all other sorts of PCIe peripherals this is perfect and soo much cheaper than those all in one PCs
there is a version with the wifi and antenna, but be advised if you plan on using this with windows 7, its really challenging to get the USB ports to work
yeah windows 10? uhmm.. thanks but no thanks... ill just have to use this machine as my linux distro test bed. i put an i5 6400t in it.. the whole computer uses about 12 watts at the wall

I agree, I don't get the hate he's getting when he's just actually doing fine, as if these haters can do better in front of the camera. As to the reason why he's the one presenting some of their videos to us, it may be because Dimitri and/or Eber is not available due to vocal problems, meet ups or meetings, etc.

Don't care much about his hair or his accent so long as he presents well and gives good information which he does. He still follows the canucks formula with his reviews. I think this kid is good and a great addition to the HardwareCanucks team. Some people should stop being being so petty.
149 gets you a motherboard, powersupply, and case i don't see what's not to like! considering doing this for my son's first computer for school but also considering something larger to support a video card. I really like how this one is vesa mountable! basically just add a touchscreen and you basically have an "all in one" pc that is upgradeable.
Nice video. Seems to me you can, if you so choose, add an exterior 120/140 mm fan as there seems to be many port openings that are covered over that can be used to route the fan cable once opened. And for mounting the fan, double sided tape or drill a few holes if there are no useful openings holes that might be able to be used. Granted adding an exterior fan might look a bit Ghetto but if it keeps the unit much cooler it may be a necessary option. At the very least it should help just keep things cool and if you mount it on the back of your monitor it won't be seen anyways... Just a thought....
FYI: CPU fans, or even water coolers, are not active coolers, they are passive coolers. An active cooler uses energy to remove heat, for instance a phase change cooler or a Peltier device. An easy way to tell if something is active or passive is if if can, theoretically, reduce heat to below ambient temperature. Note: Power used to run a fan does not qualify as "energy used to remove heat" in this case as its power is used to hasten the exchange of energy not to remove energy.
Sorry, but where did you pick up those definitions? All my Google search results point to active/passive cooling as simply referring to whether or not energy is expended in the cooling process (so fans and water coolers are active methods, while heat sinks/pipes and throttling are passive methods). Nothing about whether or not the method is capable of cooling below ambient temperature.
Beatfox That's what I was told in school, but he could be wrong. My professor specifically said the common definitions were wrong. The way he explained it made sense. His major point was that only active systems could lower temps below ambient. He said radiators are passive, water cooling is a form of radiator, and fans simply speed up the transfer of energy.
I'd actually love to get one of these to be powerful enough to play music, run my TV, maybe even have a webcam stream when I do PC builds and need something to host it.
Does it have the same dimensions as an ATX power supply? I kinda wanna put this in the power supply basement of a PC as a joke. Like, here's my compu- But wait, it's two computers! No, no one's interested? ok...
It actually is approximately the size of a power supply, I'm in the process of doing just what you said, minus putting it back into a computer after assembly, but the mobo is going to be a VERY close fit inside the shell
Great to see a fellow Aussie doing reviews. I wonder what the power use would be from this little pc? Whether you could build a super everyday use pc for Netflix/UA-cam and general browsing and email, leaving my power hungry pc for the few hours per day I game?
Thanks for the vid! I’ve been looking for a small form factor PC and had been dead set on getting a NUC but the prices were just too high. I may do this exact same build except get a larger drive for more photo storage.
dude im a huge fan of your content, you are the only honest, best gaming youtube channel that is not money hungry. keep up the good work and you should have way more subs!
Nice video mate, should do more of these. It'd be pretty interesting to see another compact build. Better coolers perhaps? Internet too maybe? Just a little independent 1080p gaming and media pc. I'd like to see some more of this stuff.
I've said this already on the Tek Syndicate video on this box. I am having my doubts with that power connector and the power supply. All of the power is supposed to come through a single DC jack. According to the video any CPU with a TDP of 65W is accepted. Now add the rated power on the USB ports (given that the 5V DC-to-DC converter can even deliver the current) of 26.5W. If you add two 2.5" SATA drives that usually require somewhere around 2.5W each, you can add another 5W minimum. Also keep in mind that the M.2 devices also need some power (maybe another 5-10W). In total you are looking at something around 100W peak power that is supplied via a 12V DC jack which makes for a current of over 8A. A standard DC jack is rated at only 5A maximum and is probably going to get damaged if you are actually going to use the system at the full potential. Since it's easier to max out slower systems, this is actually more likely than you might think. Now if the power was supplied at a higher voltage of maybe somewhere around 24V, this would be a much safer option but would of course require a DC-to-DC converter on the inside.
Thanks for comment, I didn't see the power supply actually, I just remembered from the Tek Syndicate video where their said it's 12V. Well 19V seems to be the minimum I would recommend for that kind of jack. But I still wonder how the system get its 5V. I don't know if the DC-to-DC converter in there is powerful enough for the full USB spec.
Wtf is wrong with all these people judging this guy. He's doing it really well, and he's not 12 years old. It's youtube, it's free, what more could you ask for with free content videos.
@@SqueakyBe did a bit of wheeling and dealing mate got one of them cases with a built in power supply for about a ton. 16gb of 3000mhz ram 55 pound and a 480gb ssd for 40 pound. Unfortunately some things have gone up mate. The 3200g cost me 69 pound. So probably about 250 all in. But due to the china virus prices are fucking crazy now. Just wait a bit and you'll probably get something similar if you get my drift
@@lionelfancy2672 thanks pal. Aye thought that might be the case, Corona seems to be murdering bargain bins like gumtree and eBay. I'll stick with the Nvidia shield gen 1for media pc for the time being. Thanks again mate 👍
I can't catch your name though. But this is such improvement from the last video I saw with you in it. Keep the good work man. Add more volume to the music a bit.
I love small form factor pc's, and with processors getting cheaper and faster it makes it more awesome. I have several cpu chips in the packing in the closet, and a GTX660-Ti in the box too since I upgraded to the GTX 1080-Ti card recently. I would love to build a small form factor pc and put PLEX on it and use it as a media server for my mobile device to watch movies wherever I go. Even having a second SFF computer to run Linux on so I dont get rusty on the ecosystem :) I know a few of my friends use SSF computers and use them as hardware firewalls with OpenSource Firewalls OS and applications. They are pretty strengthy too. :) Though we all do wish that SSD's would come down in prices. We cant believe that in 2018 SSD's are still pretty high in price for 1 and 2 TB drives ranging around $280~$450+ price. :/ most people see SSD's priced at $200 but dont realize its a TLC drive not a MLC drive. basically they are getting the cheapo kinds without realizing it. Thanks for the video, very cool to watch :)
This case/mb/psu combo opens up interesting possibilities for me regarding portability and day to day usage cases. I often get annoyed when my desktop PC is occupied by backups, downtime, and/or high-load tasks like video rendering. Since this also tacks onto the back of VESA-capable displays (of which I own one that I can use for such a case without the stand getting in the way and buy an additional for travel or backup). annoying that the whole kit w/ kb&m + display is ~700$ but for what I get I'm happy anyway.
This guy is awesome, I like him a lot. This barebones PC would be an awesome candidate for a newer style home theater pc or file server with some customization for cooling internal HDD's maybe. I have a Samsung 850 256GB SSD, a skylake G4560 (upgraded an Asrock Z270 board to a 7700k), and surely some ddr4 sodimms under a couch somewhere, so building this would be so cheap! For me, at least...
M.2 to PCIe adapter could allow you to connect a graphics card to this system allowing you to have a kickass gaming computer on the go. or you could always use the USB type C if applicable
+Steven Jeffers You forgot mobo. Still it's priced pretty competitively for a mobo + psu + small form factor case. Adding an i3 or a G4400 along with 8GBs of ram and 120GB SSD would be a perfect replacement for my dad's 10 year old desktop.
Daniel Kwak I guess it would be a good beginners laptop but I recommend a used desktop on craigslist you can get a decent desktop from 2013 for a good 250 or less depending on what you want and then you can upgrade it later if you have the spare ram and ssd.
$149
oh and $120 cpu
and $60 ram
and $60 ssd
I hate when people call barebones machines cheap!
they advertised a 149 PC but actually is only case+mobo+psu... not that is a bad piece of hardware but that title is a clickbait
Luciano de Benedictis Yep, it's not super expensive, but I could build a full sized PC with an upgrade path for about the same as with this.
+DUCKDUDE4100 You could even get a good enough gpu in there for the same price.
You can't get a good GPU in there for the same price let's be real and in real usage scenarios Sodimms would be $40, the same price as normal sticks and SSDs well they are the same cost for ever device so long as the form factor is constant.

Jumped in my car, slammed on the gas
Bumper to bumper the avenue's packed

I'm no electrical engineer but doesn't the power brick at 6:09 supply 6.32A at 19V, so 120W which is more than enough for your estimated usage
Hahaha 60$ RAM now cost 220$.
I should have bought ram not bitcoin !
Wtf is wrong with all these people judging this guy. He's doing it really well, and he's not 12 years old. It's youtube, it's free, what more could you ask for with free content videos.
your accent is incredibly strange but good video
he is english - maybe thats why he sounds strange to you
i'm also from the GB, that's an accent I've never heard before.
I believe that he was Australian?
Lol no way, that is Australian or something, not English.
Both Britons and all the Australians I've met know how to correctly pronounce chassis. He isn't one of us.
Home made ryzan 3200g in a small form factor case is where it's at just over 2 hundred pounds I built one for. It's a emulator and media centre beast
This is exactly what im looking for mate, what have you gone with ?
Would massively appreciate the spec / build for £200
@@SqueakyBe did a bit of wheeling and dealing mate got one of them cases with a built in power supply for about a ton.
His face annoys me while he talks. Its like he tries to be more expressive and fails.
Or like he is in pain.
I was looking for this comment. I can't agree more.
He's suffering from the night before when his boyfriend was round with the vaseline
I can't catch your name though. But this is such improvement from the last video I saw with you in it. Keep the good work man.
Add more volume to the music a bit.
I think that hair needs a review as well.
I love small form factor pc's, and with processors getting cheaper and faster it makes it more awesome. I have several cpu chips in the packing in the closet,
and a GTX660-Ti in the box too since I upgraded to the GTX 1080-Ti card recently. I would love to build a small form factor pc and put PLEX on it
and use it as a media server for my mobile device to watch movies wherever I go. Even having a second SFF computer to run Linux on so I dont get rusty on the ecosystem :)
I know a few of my friends use SSF computers and use them as hardware firewalls with OpenSource Firewalls OS and applications. They are pretty strengthy too. :)
Though we all do wish that SSD's would come down in prices. We cant believe that in 2018 SSD's are still pretty high in price for 1 and 2 TB drives ranging around $280~$450+ price. :/
most people see SSD's priced at $200 but dont realize its a TLC drive not a MLC drive. basically they are getting the cheapo kinds without realizing it.
Thanks for the video, very cool to watch :)
"Ram, storage and cpuurrr"
1:52-2:09 visual asmr! You've got some badass video making skills out there! :)
This was a tad too much hipsterism for me.
Nothing with this child but i don't like his accent and hairstyle, great B-roll tho :)
So much wanted this review to be done by Dmitri...
Hey look , a talking paintbrush!
That mini pc looks really interesting to me. Also, keep it up man!
people do not like change
all of you hating on Aidan. Stop it. He's done a really good bloody job of this video and it looks fantastic
That accent is awful.
Your comment is awful
Now imagine putting a Mini itx board with thunderbolt 3 in there and being able to connect an external GPU, fricking amazing
An ad about a full tower case in the beginning of "this" video ??
lol
If the AsRock DeskMini 110 had a PCI-E 16x slot for a Dual slot card I'd buy it for sure...
OK dimitry, time to enjoy your harem. You got covered.
I think he speaks clearly and well, well done!
This + Pentium G4400 + 240gb SSD + 8gb ram = An awesome gift for my mom who needs a new PC
Nice shots in this one!
M.2 to PCIe adapter could allow you to connect a graphics card to this system allowing you to have a kickass gaming computer on the go. or you could always use the USB type C if applicable
He blinks a lot. Thank you for the B-roll.
Shove a Skylake that has the Iris Pro 580 in it and you'll have a capable HTPC that can game to some extent.
Wow this is perfect for an everyday desktop! I might get this for my dad!
Nope the 149 is just the case and power supply you have to provide the processor and the hard drive or ssd plus no ram.
+Steven Jeffers You forgot mobo. Still it's priced pretty competitively for a mobo + psu + small form factor case. Adding an i3 or a G4400 along with 8GBs of ram and 120GB SSD would be a perfect replacement for my dad's 10 year old desktop.
That will come at $300 or $350ish depending on the CPU, which is way better than any prebuilt PCs at that price range.
Daniel Kwak I guess it would be a good beginners laptop but I recommend a used desktop on craigslist you can get a decent desktop from 2013 for a good 250 or less depending on what you want and then you can upgrade it later if you have the spare ram and ssd.
I see. I'll take your comment into consideration. Thanks!
Great review Aidan! I don't know why people feel the need to be so rude.
nice touch with the sliding cpu on the heat sink 👍
I've been scrutinizing something fierce and I've concluded it's a type of australian
You know those NPCs in Skyrim? Yea when some of them talk, they move their hands in weird ways. That's this guy...
See this is where Amd needs to talk to asrock about a possible apu deal here. this would get people interested in them.
Just bought it with i5 7500 and 8GB DDR4. Seems like the perfect little non gaming computer.
