Great video! You covered the value of composite nails for CNC very well! We (Raptor Nails) are the pioneer of composite nails, and have also developed solutions for getting through hard woods, like white oak, more effectively than other composite nails. Hopefully we can discuss some day!
I would be happy to talk about composite nails for hard woods
I have the Omer composite nailer with Raptor nails. Just like with any other nail gun, you can split solid woods with it. I've split the ends of maple by driving the nail too close to the edge. I keep a 1/2 inch wide chisel handy to take care of the leftover nail pieces and the "dimples" they make in the spoilboard after removing the piece.
I bought the Spot Nailer with Raptor composite nails and its great for my OneFinity CNC. I eventually built a vacuum holding table to be done with any external holding. The best part is the machine did the work. Hooking some PVC piping to a whole house vacuum motor and I hold just about anything. I mostly use the nailer now for setting up guides for placing smaller repeatable work or securing a replacement spoil board. I hope to do a write up on the OneFinity forums on my build soon.
Looks great --- ordering one now... have been meaning to look into these further. Thanks Donavan!
Thanks for the reference to the specific tool...that's a great price compared to the more well known Omer and for those of us who do not do massive production, a great value.
Glad to help
Wondering if these composite nails will work in a normal 18ga Brad nailing guns??
Which nail length work best without “blowing up”?
Great info. Thanks for sharing.
I don’t think so I use 1” nails they work for both 1/2”and 3/4”:plywood
Hi, Just wondering if you had any updates on this nailer?
Still using it and happy with it
@@donavanshomes Thanks!....I've been looking for a bit, didnt want to pay 360+ for some others...I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on this one.
do you think the 18g would have been better since its smaller nail to fill the hole
The main reason is if you hit it with the bit it will not hurt it
Thanks for the review! I have a couple of direct from china ones that I got for cheap, but was curious if the spot nails one has a bump activator nose?
I has two triggers so can be set ether way
Good morning
