    Great video Nick, some really nice looking Chelseas for sure. Been wearing the Astirflex Bitflex for a few months now and absolutely love them. I got them in the smooth tan leather, with leather soles, very similar look to the Taylor Stitch. NO more crepe soles for me....they look awful VERY quickly Extremely well made, short break in and super comfortable. I get complimented every time I wear them. Very reasonably priced for the quality.

    I live in Buffalo and have met Andrew on a couple of occasions. He's a great guy who is passionate about the boots he produces. I have the Elmwoods in black and they have broken in beautifully. They can be worn with jeans, chinos, or dress pants and I would highly recommend them.

    Great list! I’ve got several pairs of Chelsea’s from various manufacturers. I have particularly been enjoying my new RM Williams as of late.
    That being said I think Meermin might have my favorite boot with their whole-cut Chelsea’s. They are the best value boot hands down IMO. $200-$250 gets you a whole cut Chelsea with several choices of some great leathers, Goodyear welt construction and top notch craftsmanship. Also they are manufactured on Mallorca like the Carmina boots. I have the waxy commanders and love the combo of the waxed suede, storm welt and lug sole, they are gorgeous too.
    I’d say only thing is the sizing can take a min to figure out, also the break-in is rough, but once broken in they are excellent!

    You’re a Rock Star, Nick. Great video! I can’t tell you how happy I am with the Benzein Chelsea’s - I got to chat with them and do a little customization too (had to do the red leather inner like yours). For anyone out there looking for some a new pair of boots, these can’t come with a higher recommendation.
    Another good alternative to the Carmina is the Meermin Linea Maestro (I have both and tend to gravitate toward the Meermin).
    Thanks for the awesomeness, Nick!!!

    I have a video idea for you. I use to work at a men’s store that sold Barbour jackets. We also shipped our customers coats to England for rewaxing. One day a Barbour rep came into the store and told me something amazing…the Barbour service department can customize your jacket in a big way. The list of customizable options is endless. Want a leather collar, they can do that. Want leather elbow patches, they can do that as well. Shiny new buttons? Sure… It’s a massive list of options. I send my Bedale in every two years for rewaxing and take the opportunity to customize my coat. I’ve, added elbow patches and leather trim around the the ends of the sleeve already. This year I”m adding black leather trim to the bottom seam of the coat. Anyway, seems up your alley….love the channel

    I'd say Beckett Simonon's Silva Chelsea is kind of an underdog for a really balanced boot- pull up leather and a visibly treaded sole, but with their iconically handsome, sleek silhouette. Also fully waterproof and resolable; tough to beat for less than $300.

    I love the review. I am into leather and jeans as my new obsession nowadays after bored on watch collecting. I just wonder why Americans don't consider Timberlands much. I had 3 timberland boots (yellow boot, lace, and chelsea and a sandal). I feel like after owning much leather goods, they make good quality and are cheap specially on sale bang for buck. I don't have access to Thursday boots and Dr. Martins where I live which I consider after some research and reviews from friends and online. Personally, I had hard time getting my exact size online and really prefers sizing on stores before purchase which is because shoes and boot manufactures use different measurements. Leather boots needs the exact fit to rock them with satisfaction. I have been envious on the selections above but as I said, the exact fit for me is all about footwear. been spending on either too small or too loose shoes and been disappointed buying online since. I love Chelsea boots and been wearing them for work on scene mostly from 511 and is my go to when I am on a run. Once they are fully broke in, I put all my laced up boots aside. Timberland also is great for slim and cute feet which I have. I rock size 7 on some and rocks kids size as timbs don't offer size 6.5 ourside US LOL.

    Best Value: Grant Stone Best Built: Viberg and John Lofgren (call it a tie..) Best Best: Edward Green. Grant Stone, as you know, always punches classes above its weight and is worth every dime. Viberg and EG won't get much attention because of their price but it's hard to argue with their quality, the lasts, and their fit. This is the golden age of Chelseas, just so many excellent ways into this style. I much enjoyed your list.

    You did a great video, really liked the mix of boots.
    The sole on the Carmina wears out a little fast, I disagree that you can't wear with a nice pair of plain wash jeans.
    RM Williams are in all the offices in Melbourne, they are comfortable hence the name.
    I don't think the leather is that great, it seems to have a finish on it. The fact it is a wholecut is impressive.
    For an honourable, I think Meermin is very good.
    Menswear UA-camrs sometimes say that you shouldn't wear light coloured Chelseas with dark trousers.

    Hi Nick, fellow aussie here. Hope you can help! I'm wanting to buy a pair of Thursday Cavaliers but very hesitant on sizing...I usually run 11.5 to 12 US in runners (nike, asic etc) 11 US in chuck taylors, but the only pair of chelsea boots I own are Hush puppies in 9.5 US...big difference.
    I contacted Thursday boots which wasn't to helpful and I asked if they have sizes in centimetres to try and gauge it better but no luck. Any insight on how you determined right size would be great, as being I can't try them on it's a bit tricky.

    youre not Italian (I am) but there are quite a few cobblers not well known in Tuscany, Italy, that still hand last and hand welt Italian shoes using premium Italian leather. Also the cobblers I visited are artisans and have a history of shoe making, with pride in what they do so taking as much care as any other cobbler worldwide so to say Benzein are the best made is in my opinion highly disputable. There are also very small but premium cobblers in other European countries like Spain or Hungary (most well known is Vass), like I am sure there are in other countries outside Europe.

    Given that the Chelsea Boot is a British Boot, I am astonished that you include no British Boot in your choices, especially considering the many excellent examples from Northampton - for example, my Loake 1880 Danite Soled Chelsea’s in Suede are superb boots and excellent value

    Looking for more of a casual chelsea and going back and forth between Red Wing Weekender and Red Wing Classic Chelsea (which apparently they put a hold on due to supply chain issues). Have you ever done a comparison video of these two? Wondering whether I should seek out the classic Chelsea, or just go for the Weekender (that's readily available).

    • @Stridewise
      @Stridewise  Рік тому +1

      Yeah good question! The Weekender is lower profile is the main difference. Classic is very bulky like an Iron Ranger almost, the Weekender is lower profile and it's also a lot lighter and more flexible because it's stitchdown. I prefer the weekender because it's got the rugged leather and everything but it's a more traditional look for this kind of boot. Plus it's just so easy to put on and wear because of the lighter build

      @@Stridewise Followup question…do you know of & recommend a casual lace up boot in the same vein is the Weekender? I work in a casual environment (IT). Most days I wear jeans and a hoodie or untucked button down. I may very well go w/ the Weekender b/c I think that would be perfect. Just wondering if there’s a lace up that would also work.

      I have one pair in waxed kudo and lug soles! I personally think they are a great value. They have 2 lasts for Chelsea’s ,
      One is narrower and pointy , other is more rounded. If I’m not mistaken , the hiro last is more narrow and pointy

    • @AdamBrinson
      @AdamBrinson Рік тому +1

      I'll agree that I've found my Meermin chelseas to be a bit narrow/snug. I'd go true to size on my next pair to make up for that, my current pair I went down a half size like you would for Iron Rangers, but that was a mistake on my part. But other than that I'm very happy with them. Hard to beat for the price, especially if you pick up a wholecut style.

    I can see no reason to buy Blundstones over Redbacks for work. I got my Redbacks for work but they're so comfy I don't want to take them off. Almost the same price, in my opinion better looking that Blundstones and actually made in Oz rather than just trading off their Australian heritage.
