This was always going to happen once countries like England & Spain started putting more resources into their womens leagues & youth programs like they always did for their men. In the womens game you van make great leaps in short time frames b/c their are less countries that put money in to the girls/womens side. These European countries also have big mens club sides that have put more money into their girls/womens sides.
Spain won both the u17 and u20 world cups on the women side
It is interesting that leagues with the most players in the semifinals were the English WSL and the Spanish women’s league. With most of the Swedish and Australian team playing in England, pretty much proving the WSL is the best women’s league in the world. Also Spain and England. Are probably the two European countries that have invested the most in women’s football and they are being rewarded for this.
Once the rest of the world start taking women's football, it's a wrap for the USWNT. Spain and England have the best womens football league. Dont forget about Portugal,Italy and France. USA is in trouble.
@@jonjones3841 i really dont think its that simple bc the USWNT has PLENTY of players that should be wanted by any club in women's football... like they could all play in Europe and get access to that infrastructure in the WSL or in spain
@@samuel9skinner I’m not sure that is the case. Only 2 Americans play outside of the USA in Europe, compared to other countries in South America, Australia, Africa where the majority play in Europe. I think it is because they know USA players just athleticism and not much else.
@@Delboy0 ok but Sophia Smith, Naomi Girma, Trinity Rodman, Alyssa Thompson, Alyssa Naeher all are more than capable of playing in Europe and in the Women’s Champions League… if the NWSL was to not become the best league in the world at somepoint (it looks like it’s heading in that direction) all those players could play in Europe like Horan does
@@samuel9skinner I think you are projecting they would be good due to past. The WSL have imported many American players and they rarely end up being the stars of their team because they are all athleticism and nothing much else.
Europe has benefitted by using the existing knowledge and infrastructure, a massive benefit is the womens champions league, which will only grow as a competition.
Add to this the womens euros, a competition thats is not far removed from a world cup in terms of attendance , pressure and competitiveness. Thats a massive boost to the game and experience and it all generates revenue and exposure.
Moving forward europe is fast becoming the center of womens football!
Europe as you said simply has that base. Trainers, infrastructure, staff, knowledge on how these things work on any scale, etc.
Eventually the top American players will have to go to Europe if they want to improve as players to compete at the international level

Spain won both u17 and u20 at the World Cup and European Championship the last decades so this is not a surprise. Japan also has have strong u17 and u20 lately like France the reason they have very good team. The US failed on the youth level the last decade riding the wave of past glory and undermine player development. The US will have hard time ahead because i don t see the new generation able to compete on international level. The emerging new talent from this World Cup are all international players: Salma, Linda, Fowler to name a few. Spain, England, Nederland rise is parallelle with the emergence of league in Europe where teams like Barca, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester, Manchester City, Madrid, Bayern are now investing more and more in female football. Most of the best players in this WC play in one of those clubs.
Early on the game leaders were the small feminist countries like norway, denmark, sweden etc The US went ahead because soccer is the game women play in the us and title 9 requires collegrs to give athletic scholarships to women, so if htey have a football team that's like 4 womens soccer teams just in scholarships. This means american u21 development got a massive boost of funding and coaching about 20 years ago, this put america ahead
since then, the us hasn't really done much, meanwhile in europe all the big mens teams have invested in womens teams (if only to attract female fans) and have given those teams the same level of professional care that the mens teams have gotten so in the past 10 years you have had good professional scouting and coaching for u18, u21 and adult players. So naturally the big european countries have caught up
Tbh from both the Netherlands and Sweden game I think they were able to absorb pressure and then counterattack…. Salma paralluelo was very good at that

I don’t think it has anything to do exclusively with the women. It is how we make soccer players period. And guess which important aspect this is?

Look, the USA has had a good run. We were leaders in women's soccer. And as a result, we won a lot of matches. But that success has inspired the world to also support women's soccer. And the playing field is getting more and more even. You're not going to see USA dominance anymore. It's going to be a grind from here on out. Another point to consider ... traditional men's soccer powerhouses now have better soccer programs for their women. We rely heavily on our college soccer infrastructure. And that is what holds back our men's side. Now you're gonna see the same thing happen in women's soccer.
I really think the next step would be for every MLS team to have a senior women's team like in Europe. I think this would really help with investment and fan support. Idk if NWSL would ever want to do a partnership like that.

The women's U20's have not looked good. It seems those teams are not getting a lot of time to practice together. These other countries are developing better young players. USSF has to look at that closely and adapt.
That's partially true. But you have to also admit that this team was not at the lev er l of either of the last USWNT world cup teams. Also... Vladko just isn't a good enough manager.

Like what a lot said here in the comments the world caught up. Europe started to take it serious and now have leagues for almost all of the UEFA nations. Nothing to sue with the USWNT being “woke” since a lot of the other teams that played are “woke” as well. Numerous teams asked for better pay. So all those who cheered for the USWNT losing showed is they know nothing. The world caught up simple as that. And this World Cup had packed crowds for a majority of games. In the past if a women’s World Cup game was sold out it was either the host playing or the US was playing. England, Spain, France, Japan, Colombia, Germany, Sweden they had good support along with the US and both hosts.
Spain then after winning the cup FIRED the coach who devised their style of play.No good deed goes unpunished
That still of play come from Barcelona. Not Spain national team.

Goals come from striker
USA didn’t have striker to play bunkers like Sweden
The worlds caught up, but we still played like a peewee team
Spanish roster almost like the mans team dominated by el clasicco club Real Madrid and Barcelona

The US Create MONOPOLLY CLOSED League System with only someone Rich can buy the Top Level of the League .!!
This is the exact reason the US sucks at soccer. They have closed leagues. It doesn't promote progression from bottom to top.
