Vlatko is NOT building his team around Morgan and Rapinoe. Sophia Smith and Trinity Rodman are the key forwards now. Rapinoe might actually play very few minutes.
This review is a little unfair to Vlatko. After Jill Ellis' departure, the team was at the point in it's time to retool, while other national teams have been in a more organic development mode that wasn't as disrupted by Covid as was the US program. Covid severely compressed the time that Vlatko has had to evaluate, select, develop, and give sufficient minutes to the players that had potential to earn spots on the squad. That being said, there are few questions about the quality of the individual players that make up the squad this Cup. Of course there could be arguments for players that were not selected, but those differences as a whole are minimal. The biggest challenge they face in the pitch is that there are going to be lineups deployed that have minimal playing time together. I am confident however that the USWNT is eager to face the challenge of better competition. They know it will ultimately contribute to their own growth.
@@postcardsfromprotest You may very well be right about the outcome of this Worlds Cup. Hope you are not right about US prospects, I think European players want strong competition from the US too.
@@postcardsfromprotest we've seen the best of Europe failing to beat Canada at the Olympics out of all teams, the problem of the big teams is getting over the low block of the teams that may just refuse to lose and drag the match with a much better team all the way to penalty shootouts
*I don't think she is going to play at all. She is in the capacity of coach assistant and if she plays twenty minutes will be against teams that are not among the ten best teams in the FIFA ranking.*

What's already happening in the US right now is that some teenagers are going directly into the NWSL instead of going to college. The NWSL used to prohibit players younger than 18, but the rule was changed a year or two ago after a 15-year-old player sued the NWSL and won. The floodgates are already open and colleges probably won't be part of the main pathway for many top players for much longer.
I agree with the main premise of this video... the European game has really improved, their leagues have improved, modeled after the men;s leagues, and they are producing most of the top new talent. A top 6 European team against the U.S. is a tossup now. I'm rooting for our girls, and a few of them are in fine form, but they look better to me. Maybe our American spirit and competitiveness will come through, we'll certainly need it. Australia and Japan and others also look really good at times.
I think this WC will be very tight and can see a handful of teams winning it.
The only thing that might be a worry for USA soccer within the coming years is attracting european teams for friendlies on USA soil- many european countries are creating there own "she believes cup" and considering it will be such a short flight for example spain to england then I can see USA finding it difficult to attract that competition on home soil.
Fact check: Catarina Macario didn't skip college to play in Europe. She was a 2x winner of best college player award.
Well, she didn't make a move to the NWSL, that was our point. She chose Europe instead
True but Macario left before her senior year, they said “forego”, not “skip” as in completely
@@dwkickoff C'mon, you're journos; words matter; accuracy matters. Using the word 'forego' implies college wasn't important to Macario when in fact it was important enough to graduate.
You need to check your facts before you post videos!! I don’t think Catarina Macario would approve of you making a statement that wasn’t accurate. Obviously, you are raging pro Europe. We will see who lifts the trophy. The USWNT has a great chance of a three peat as well as a couple other teams whether you like it or not!!!!
@@dwkickoff That's your response to a clear error in your video? Seriously?
Colombia 🇨🇴 played great the other day.
If I'm not mistaken Germany also lost 2 of their last 3 matches (to Brazil & Zambia). Would be hilarious if in the end it's neither US nor Europe :D

Germany football is literally diminishing for both men's and women's.
The men's side had even lost because they don't have a natural striker like Klose.
@@ezraezra2928 It's very odd when looking at the 2014 World Cup games of the German men's team. It makes one wonder why Germany declined so quickly after that.
They have always competed with the USWNT, it was never easy for them, they won in extra times, via penalty shootouts and by fine margins, so they were usually dragging and outlasting their opponents even in their best year. When the top 8 plays, those matches are frequently very close and come down to sheer luck.
USA 4 wins Germany 2 and everyone else can suck it. People only remember who wins and usually only the teams that win more than one. I ought to know I'm also a Lakers fan.
nope, also no sure who is they?
@@fourthdeconstruction they are Germany & Brazil, Norway during the 1990s-2000s, Japan in the early 2010s and Sweden + Canada more recently. When USWNT played any top 12 team in a big tournament, it was rarely a walkover (the only exception being the 2015 World Cup final).
Yes but they’re still record champions of everything so they are the dominant team most of the time, even if there were always close games.
Now england and Europe have got big, well paid leagues it's gonna swing away from usa dominance.
Great analysis. Came here after US eliminated by Sweden. And several new contenders.
As a former USWNT fan all I can say is... they're going home... they're going home...Rapinoe is going home!!!
Fifa awards are normally European players (or marta) cause they are the only ones Europeans watch or have heard of. Even when the US has had the best players. If it's a female footballer of the year the europeans often pick the european name they know. That's just how it is.
Is the fact that the last 3 ballon d'or winners were european proof that the europeans are truly better? or simply that the committee doesn't watch the US domestic league. Further, it's a bit funny to mention the strength of the Frauen Bundesliga (of which I am a fan, mind you) when you consider that most of the teams still are only semi-pro and the German starting lineup will basically come from 2 clubs. I think professionalization is the next big hurdle for women's football in Germany, or they truly will be left behind by the fully professional WSL.
Add to the fact that the women's ballon d'or was started in 2018. It awarded an aging Megan Rapinoe in 2019. Basically, I don't put much stock in the award.
My favourite for a dark horse is Norway. Hegerberg, Reiten, Maanum, Mjelde, Graham Hansen. Big question is whether they will defend well enough.
Good shout! They were very disappointing at last year's EUROs though... you think they can prove their critics wrong?
@@dwkickoff I think they can win the group. If they get defence sorted and the strikers and midfielders gel as a unit, I think they'll be an exciting team to watch. Reiten is an assist machine and Hegerberg is always dangerous.
They are mine as well along with Japan, if they can figure out their defensive schemes, they will be dangerous with all that firepower!
They lost to NZ!!!!!
This narrative of "rest of the world catching up to the US Women" always seems to ignore the competitiveness that existed already. Germany in the 00s, Brasil in the 00s and 10s, Japan in the 10s, and now France/England/Netherlands in 20s. The US has always had tough opponents they have lost to or barely got by. The diagnosis in 2007 was that the US reign was over and would be left behind by other nations. They went on to make three finals, winning two. My point is if the US fails to win in 2023 it doesn't really show a massive change. In 2019 the brutal run of having to beat Sweden, Spain, France, England and Netherlands showed how close it could have been to going out at any point. All one has to do is look at the men's side and see that nations like Brasil, Germany, Argentina, France, and Italy don't reasonably expect to win it every time.
I'm very proud of our women, but the expectations at times are ridiculous where a 3rd place is a disaster and we are always on the precipice of collapsing since 1999.
Hi soccer lovers, I love all your passionate comments and love for the USWNT. The US women pioneered the model of how women can succeed in something that not long time ago was considered a "Men's job only." Almost a century ago, Rosie the Riveter was a symbol of equality with men. Should they keep that continuity? Not necessary. They established something that was taken as a model worldwide, and now, my soccer lovers, let's love the whole game regardless it is being played in Australia, Senegal, Sweden, or anywhere else. Love it because the USWNT pioneered it. Love you all
Great analysis, Delboy0! Who's your pick to go all the way then?
The last men's World Cup in Qatar showed how teams outside Europe and South America fared better. Even though the final was between the Europe and South America, teams from Asia, Africa, and North America had slight chances to upset. Take a look on how Morocco overcoming 3 European giants like Belgium, Spain, and Portugal, as well as Japan beating 2 former European and World champions Spain and Germany. Also, you can't even forget the same thing for Cameroon beating Brazil on the last group game to escape bottom place in the group, and Socceroos Australia reaching the knockout stages with only 3 goals in the group games and didn't suffered a heavy defeat against Argentina.
The same thing can also be applied to the women's counterpart. Before this tournament had began, some countries tasted a better result. The Matildas Australia won against the European nations like Spain, Sweden, England, and France. Zambia also stunned Germany with a last minute winning goal. Even the Southeast Asian dark horse Vietnam didn't lost heavily to Germany (1-2)!
I think some groups that are considered as Group of Death, notably Group B, E, F, and even G, will expect some surprising results. But I will consider that USWNT will top the Group F as usual, with Spain and Sweden must do the same thing so that Spain or Sweden will only face USWNT in the semifinal.
Man morocco were something else, so sad to see france win. I always like watching japan too, considering how poor they are domestically they always perform at world stage.
USWNT is in Group E.
@@nandofim Sorry to mention that. I don't realize about this mistakes.
And also, I can confirm that New Zealand's win over Norway is just the beginning of the upsets. Hoping to see Philippines, Vietnam, and Zambia claiming their first World Cup wins, they ended up losing, with Zambia conceding 5 against Japan right now 😭😭😭
Limpiate la boca antes de comparar a los equipos de Conmebol como Argentina y Brasil con estas señoritas. Campeones del mundo tenemos en Sudamérica y a los mejores jugadores del mundo, Maradona, Pele y Messi
The US will face Sweden in the round of 16 because they actually were poor in the group stage
Good points, but a counter: Opposite to the men's game, the Olympics and international invitational tournaments (She believes Cup as an example) provide enough opportunity for other nations to develop, there's a good quantity of interregional friendlies as well. Also the players for teams like Australia and Brazil play in those competitive leagues, Rafaelle and Sam were really good this season in the WSL. The European dominance might come in 2027, but for now I have my doubts.
From what I understand, Paul isn't predicting Europeans dominating, he said they're in the process of catching up. 😜
I feel like people are forgetting that the German women's national team have also been very dominant over the decades, I remember them even winning a world cup without conceding a single goal the whole tournament, it was insane.

@@violin245 Australia has been good for years. Unfortunately I fear New Zealand may struggle. Regardless, I hope they both play exciting matches and give their fans plenty of chances to cheer.
Having the world’s number 1 striker will definitely help.
@@postcardsfromprotesttotally agree, plus they were trying some new formations after the plague of ACL, and we saw that again in the last friendly, but they have a really strong team, even without three great players (and I love how the FA have been keeping them busy over the last couple of weeks, trying to distract them)
Megan’s WELCOME TO AMERICA victory pose is hilarious to see every time!!
I cheer for Spain or Japan . . .
I appreciate this view. I'm all in for USA but good to see which teams to look out for!!
Title IX was the reason the US was so far ahead. Now the rich private club development style of US soccer is allowing Europeans to catch up. That being said, Sophia Smith is by far the best player in the world now and Europeans have not yet even heard of her.
Unlike other national teams USWNT operates like a club team, other national team still lack cohesion at the back that ultimately wins tournaments. And even in 2019 USWNT had to grind it out against the better teams, a top 12 women's football team frequently finds it hard to break down a low block at the playoff stage on a bad day and can easily bow out after a shootout.
"Now the rich private club development style of US soccer is allowing Europeans to catch up. "
Um, no. You're basically using a common talking point that's used to criticize the USMNT for the women's side. It ain't working once we actually think about it. You can't have it both ways by saying Title XI allowed USWNT to dominate world soccer and at the same play the "soccer is for rich kids" card as an argument for any lack of growth in talent for the women. If anything, logically, one would point to club soccer (and NCAA soccer) as a route that works for women's soccer.
My worry with Smith is that she still hasn't seem to jell with the national team. Smith is excellent for Portland but is far behind Rodman, Lavelle and Morgan in goal involvements with the national team, with 0 goals and 1 assist in 2023 going into the Cup. I hope Smith and Rodman both get to start against Vietnam and Smith fully finds her footing for the US before they face tougher opponents.
@@sarahr3076because she’s been played out of position in order to play Morgan. If I was coach, I’d play smith in her natural position up top and play Rodman and Williams. Morgan can come off the bench
@@laminho1188 I don't think that's the whole explanation. She was mostly playing as a winger in 2022 when she had a good year with the US, too, wasn't she? Also, I'm not counting on Andonovski to suddenly make great decisions now after making questionable ones most of the year.
I think Sweden and France go to the final because they play very well
I agree with everything in this video. But cmon guys are not even going to mention Sweden as a contender for the title? They have performed semis and finals in the last couple of big tournaments. They are ranked third in the world for gods sake.
True Sweden finished 3rd at the last WWC in 2019
@@jasongarufi8187 It appears to me that Sweden has built it's team to match up favorably against US personnel and tactics, and have had historical success against them. I'm from the US, and a big USWNT fan, and have been watching WSL, Women's Champions League and the Euros for a few years. I consider Sweden the biggest threat to knock off the US. England, Germany, France and Australia all also can win it all. The Dutch will miss Viv too much, not sure Brazil has enough top players to get there yet, but not far off and always improving. Going to be a very entertaining Cup! It's enough to celebrate how much has been accomplished so far. Women's futbol plays a role in improving all women's prospects worldwide.
Sweden always gives US trouble..must be the blond hair.
@@Matthew_Elliswhat about England ?
@@lexkanyima2195 My apologies, no disrespect intended, sure England could win it all, but chances diminished without marquee players Fran Kirby, Leah Williamson, and Millie Bright. Still dangerous.
I’m so excited for this World Cup I am an Australian and my friend played in two World Cup tournaments and was a defensive back for Australia throughout the 2010’s so know a lot about women’s football in this part of the world following my friend throughout her career. My friend retired from international football in 2017 and played in our local league which is where players like Sam Kerr got their start
Go Aussies!
Amazing! Thanks for sharing this, joshrees6800. How far do you think will Australia go?
I think we could make the final this time around against USA 😊 it would be fantastic Australians like to punch above our weight in sport meaning we like to test ourselves against a better opponent. You saw that in Qatar with the Socceroos in team.As far as the women’s team goes In recent years we beat a good Great Britain team at the Olympics and just fell short to the USA in that bronze medal playoff Tokyo in 2021. The media here are already predicting Sam Kerr and the Matildas (that’s what we call our National women’s team) to have a Cathy Freeman moment if they get to the final in Sydney. Which is a little bit ironic because that’s where Cathy Freeman won the 400m at the Sydney Olympic Games.
and speaking about the England team.People around the world might not know that the English Rugby Union team won a Rugby Union World Cup almost 20 years ago in 2003 at the very same stadium where the FIFA Women’s World Cup final is taking place.
@@joshrees1985 recently we beat a good Great Britain team at the Olympics. The 4-3 game in the quarters? I looked at the GB squad for that game. From 23 players, 11 no longer play for England. 2 years ago and time flies :)
Yup am so glad that Megan Rapinoe is done. They need a better way forward and get back to basics.
I'm supporting 🇿🇦
But my second team is 🇪🇸
One can only hope its the end of an era.
Didn't Canada 🇨🇦 win Gold the 2020 Olympics? Christine Sinclair, Captain Canuck, also has 190 international goals, the most of any football player on the planet, has scored at 5 WCs, and has over 300 caps. Not a single mention for Canada and no one ever talks about Sinclair as one of the all time greats. Why is that?
There is a lot of nonsense in this video.
1. YES the USWNT has always been near the top - and they won the last two world cups. BUT they did not win the previous three. In guessing (without looking now) the writers for this video have no idea who won the previous editions. Two of those three were won by Germany - so to say Germany is only now “catching up” is insanely disrespectful to that powerhouse team. And another team you mentioned as on the rise l, Japan won the other one.
2. This idea that somehow France and England are just now rising is also laughable. Did you see their matches against the US in 2019? Both played them VERY close and could have won either game. Canada also has has a very strong team for some time now along with the all time goal scoring leader, regardless of gender. Norway and Sweden have also long had strong teams.
3. This idea that there are no current US players in the top 5 in the world due to those euro centric rankings is absurd. It just tells me you don’t watch the NWSL at all.
4. The names of the storied men’s clubs as well as “the Champions league” carry so much weight in your mind you overestimate the skill of their players. That’s not saying some of the players aren’t great; they are. But you say FC Barcelona with such reverence, as an example, without realizing their women’s squad is very average.
I love that now many outlets who don’t know much about the women’s game are finally paying attention. They would do well to hire some experts and do more research.
True, USWNT dominance is largely a myth, their real strength is in grinding out results in otherwise even ties.
Since I love football I have been getting these videos on my thread so here are my two cents.
1-There are more leagues around the world that have been attracting the better players to play there (France, Spain, Germany, Sweden)
2-Teams no longer look at the US as a mount Everest
3-Teams around the world are recruiting taller players and grooming them into national team players.
4-There is more camaraderie amongst the other teams (my perception)
5-The US has an aging team and needs a new image.
the usa team focusses more on equal pay then playing football🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I usually don’t watch women’s football but seeing how it’s evolving and how it will evolve even more is gonna be very interesting
Coming back here in a month when USWNT wins their third straight.

First, many thanks for this informative video. As an American, I agree with most of the points that you made, and I love seeing and hearing Nadia in my hometown, Louisville, talking honestly about women's football.
Second, personally, I have placed my money on Australia, because I think the oddsmakers and public are underestimating their opportunity to win the Cup.
Third, American women's teams are finally waking up to the necessity of club football and the development of younger players. Several players on the National team are not former college players, but for some reason non-US media only mentions our players in their thirties, overlooking the true stars of our team.
Finally, the American people struggle with the concept of football or any professional leagues for the benefit of anyone other than rich owners, but times are changing, and America is finally trying to develop football from the bottom up rather than from MLS owners down.
Totally agree with the changing soccer powers. I think Team USA will be lucky to medal.

USWNT dominating the World Cup is a phenomenal outcome rather than by chance. If you repeatedly win a World Cup as much as eight times in less than 25 years, there's got to be some fundamental truth about your success. Everybody understands a game, a sports game universally loved all over the world, must be fun to play in the first place. To excel in such a game winning titles and trophies, there is hell lot to achieve, to acquire, to develop, to compete for, from an individual display to a team performance. USWNT's success, without prejudice, is a combination of everything from youth sports in soccer on school grounds, community activities and promotions with a great deal of input from soccer lovers, educational organizations supporting the soccer curriculum, governmental agencies injecting financial resources to develop the sport into a nationwide hobby for women. It all started from school and ending in parks over the weekend, to competition between countries in Olympic Games and World Soccer.
The popularity of women soccer is ongoing in the US from small counties to states. So in the past thirty plus years this development has never stopped. You can see kids running with a ball, kicking with it by both boys and girls on a pitch, in the park, in their backyard, as well as in a team to compete regularly over the weekends led by their school teachers and coaches. To arrive at this stage as commonly seen as weekend sports activities in parks in the US, it is a long way, and surely, it led to undisputed success without saying.
So I am not convinced, after seeing young girls in the age of 7 or 8, kicking a ball around in the park, or juvenile soccer teams playing at the age groups of 10-11, or late teens of women teams in the age of 15 to 16 fighting for a school trophy, that American women soccer is in the decline. Set backs are bound to happen when key players leave a team, new players come in but need time to develop or mature. Yes, times of disappointment because of excessive expectation but not a decline. There are times of adjustments, and I feel that the USWNT will continue to thrive.
Excellent post.

If you repeatedly win a World Cup as much as eight times in less than 25 years. Not sure if any team has won it 8 times? The US has won it 4 times in 8 tries. Have you got your facts wrong? Just wondering.
Great analysis, joechow. Thank you for your message!
@@dwkickoff If you repeatedly win a World Cup as much as eight times . Which womens team has won the wc 8 times ?
@@richard6440hat he is trying to say is that USWNT never missed out Semi final in the last 25 years.
USWNT have won
4x WC(1991,99,15,19).
1x Second place (2011),lost only on penalty shootout.
3x Third place(1995,2003,07)
So,they were always dominant in women's World Cup history.
France Japan or England not the US this time .
The USA has a huge advantage in this world cup due to the brackets. Assuming that the US, Spain and Sweden all top their group then the US won't have to play a top team until the semifinals. That said I don't think they can win. Whomever is in charge (not the head coach) seems hell bent on preserving the positions of as many of the old stars as possible even to the point of refusing to call in players for friendlies when their were openings due to injury.
The US had over 100,000 in world cup final in California. Many young players (Rodman, Thompson & others) are skipping college soccer and going directly into the professional leagues.
There is a professional league for women's soccer in the USA? Wow I have only seen college and high school soccer. I've never paid for it. I just saw some busses while biking around a university near the sports field. I didn't think it was worth $10 to watch it.
The USWNT will not win the world cup because they are not sharp. Their passes are sloppy, their shooting are not accurate and precise. Their technique overall is average to bad. They are overhyped. There are many teams that are better than them.
It is kinda funny that a German channel posted a video with ''game over USA?''' and then today happened...
@lkrnpk Yes, German channel 🌭, our writers, however, are from all over the world.
It was only a matter of time before Europe caught up.. I mean, Europe has a culture of soccer. All the great tactics evolved there. The US doesn't have that culture - the US has a culture of basketball, baseball, and American football. It was just b/c of Title IX and the development of recreational leagues for girls soccer that women's soccer flourished in the US. Everything else favors Europe and South America.
In the USA the rule is "If you are not good enough in sports, you can always play soccer". It is also knows for being a sport you play if you don't like boys.
You don't follow the new women on the team, do you.? Rapinoe will hardly play, Morgan will start but Rodman will replace her at the half. You forgot about Brazil who beat Germany & lost to England at Wembley on penalties.
My opinion is any top 8 teams can win can win this year for the reason US is not a very strong contender because of 4 super stars are absence due to injury. If they're in this line up, the world will be in jealous anger knowing it's impossible to beat them. But lucky (?) for you guys they're not here so you have so many stories to talk them down this and that.....
But I have news for you, they will try their best of what they have and know how to win it again. If they don't win this time, I assure you they'll come back again and again in the future. Because winning women football is already in their blood. In the US the NWSL is expanding rapidly accommodating more teams joined in every year. That means the pools will be overwhelmed with talented players for USWNT in future. We already look pass this WC, the future is so bright and promising with US WOMEN SOCCER !!! Go team USA 👈👍👊🌹💖🗽💥
Sweden, England and Australia may win it.
I hope we'll see a totally new world champion
If there was a Europe v USA match, i reckon Europe would win.
England alone have 6 world class players.
Unfortunately, 3 are out with injuries, at present.
England or Spain for me
Should be but Japan is a surprise outside threat
Japan 🇯🇵
For the first time i heard some of the women footballers, they should be on the news more!
I think Japan is good but I worry about their physical condition and strength.
I hope they win and all girls don’t get injured!!
It's been proven the woman's football is largely on the rise in the EU after Spain won the World Cup with a solid team. Even Portugal is investing allot in the development of young talent. Clubs are being obligated by FPF to create a team and facilities are being built for them. SC Braga is solid example (even having women's futsal). They are going to build a new stadium near the main stadium and will also provide them with new fields and all together (men and women) with the needed quality of training.
Portugal is on the rise. I think they are borderline a top 20 team. They will climb to be a top 10 side in maybe 4-5 years.
My bets are: Spain, England, Germany, Canada and Brazil. USA is 6th or 7th at least.
USA at least gets to semis
Gaslight much?
Canada isn't as good as they were at the Olympics without their key goalie. Germany...lost in a friendly to a one-Barbra show from Zambia. I am worried about Spain's backline atm.
England is a contender, just like France.
@@heppoloworried ab englands back line and inability to score goals rn and France just had an injury happen with wendie renard. It could quite possibly be Australia’s time
@@hehenah4308 idk about Australia, all the teams have a backline problem, with Matildas I am also a bit worried about their goalie

They sleep over the laurels of the past and " others " toxic ingredients.
That will be Germany, hands down. U.S. goes out in quarter finals.
Wrong 😏😆
I think it'll be Australia (I could be biased) but they have stunned England in England and have beaten France so you know anything could happen tho.
After seeing them take on France in a friendly they have to improve a great deal if they are to stand any sort of chance.
Come on england 🏴⚽ even with the injury list we can still do it ❤

Barbra Banda can cook
Yeah DW, how was that Columbia game.....
Don’t count out South America with Brasil and Colombia could be a surprise with players like Linda Caisedo….
Colombia will take 2nd spot in their group behind Germany, after that we shall see who they play in the round of 16.
Colombia 🇨🇴 just beat Germany 🇩🇪 with two Golazo earning the 3 points for the first place. Yes is not over..
I think germany, spain, brazil or England
Even Sweden or Canada imo
When i see usa team, there no bit of regeneration,i think england and japan will goes to final
😂 Uh No, US will DOMINATE
starters are great so took awhile to bring in younger squad but two most important players this go around are youngsters.
Clickbait. The US hasn't gotten weaker, other countries are finally taking it seriously and investing. You're gonna see the new players introduce themselves in this WC.
Yup
Megan Rapinoe underproduced for the team . She was 38 years old , She needs to pay attention to the bamboo shoots.
Colombia will make it to Semis. With a young phenom like Linda Caicedo , Mayra Ramirez, & Catalina Usme on the attack plus a veteran squad they will turn heads.⚽️🇨🇴 8:36

well I guess we'll see...the chances of winning the 3rd title is VERY GOOD! Let's go USA..USA...USA..let's smoke em!
As an American I can say I am a huge supporter for any team facing the US women.
The group game USA against Netherlands will give a first answer regarding the question USA vs. Europe. The Netherlands team is real a European team with players from clubs all over Europe, Arsenal, PSG, Munich, Wolfsburg, Lyon, Ajax, Chelsea, Athletico and Man City. The coach Andries Jonker has been van Gaal's assistant at Barcelona and Munich. He managed men's team in the Bundesliga and the Eredivisie. He definitely understands modern European football tactics. This will be the first test for the US and if they lose they might need to play Sweden, Spain and the Netherlands again to reach the final, where they will be expected by France, Germany or England. Can the win the world cup? Yes, but it is not guaranteed.
Good analysis, Ulrich. USA vs NED is the top game of the group stages, absolutely... what's your score prediction?
@@dwkickoff The baseball player and coach Yogi Berra is often quoted with the saying "It's hard to make predictions, especially about the future." But being pressed I would say Netherlands wins 2:1 with van Domselaar becoming the player of the match.
@@ulrichkunitz9262 The USWNT has the easiest run to the final of any major contender in the World Cup. The USA is in Group E with the Netherlands, Vietnam, and Portugal. The USA should top the group and then face the runners-up of Group G, which includes Sweden, South Africa Italy, and Argentina. After that, it's either Group A winners or the runners-up of Group C most likely to be Spain, Japan, or Norway. The USA gets to avoid the tougher side of the bracket playing England, Germany, France, Brazil, Australia, and Canada until/if they reach the semi-finals.
@@ulrichkunitz9262 Is Vivianne Miedema playing ?
@@Skyrose1978 Vietnam will get slaughtered by the other three teams. Portugal , if they park a very big bus, could pull off a couple of draws. And if Usa draw with the Netherlands, it will get vey interesting :)
japan........................................
What's the 'British FA'?
@scottw.3258 Of course you're right, but come on...isn't it confusing? ua-cam.com/video/XRrrH6fJYGs/v-deo.html
Nicely done. Yes its true that overall european female talent has finally caught up. But its not like they never had it. Once upon a time Norway's women team used to terrorize the USWNT. I'm an American and huge supporter of the USWNT. Ive watched them from the early days of Mia Hamm & company. Its amazing what they have done especially when you consider how far behind the rest of the world the United States soccer scene used to be and sadly still is on the mens stage even with MLS. All great dynasties eventually come to an end. And the USWNT's is no different. With several key players missing, a very young group of inexperienced players who haven't been in a world cup before & a core group of aging stars thats not a recipe for success. But that being said i think Germany is overrated. Vietnam gave them fits. All the other womens European teams easily beat Vietnam. That says a lot in a nutshell.. Watchout for Spain & Sweden. I would say England and France but they both have been hit hard with injuries just like the USA. Brazil will be in the semi finals. I think Spain's Women team will win with Brazil finishing 2nd. Either way I will still be pulling for the USWNT to win 3 straight. Go USA women🇺🇸⚽🇺🇸⚽🇺🇸⚽🇺🇸!
Australia have recent victories over Spain, England, Sweden and France. Just sayin...
Absolutely, g.a.fisher5962! Well said. You do have a point. Germany has lost track a bit with England, Spain and France pumping a lot of money into the women's game. It feels like the EUROs have changed sth though - and more and more men's teams, the traditional Bundesliga clubs, are taking women's football seriously. Even if Bayern and Wolfsburg are competing for the Bundesliga title, you have Frankfurt, Hoffenheim and Leverkusen catching up. Frankfurt for example have more players in the World Cup squad than Bayern Munich. But professionalism and "equal play" still is the ultimate goal, absolutely.
@@dwkickoff and more and more men's teams, the traditional clubs, are taking women's football seriously . At Last !
4-0 against sweden (in australia)
2-0 against england (in england)
1-0 against france (in france)
3-2 against spain (in australia)
Aussis are definitely a force to be reckoned with. Additionally, they got the home turf advantage (Oceania) this tournament around.
"Andonovski is still building his team around super strikers Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan." LOL!!!
This guy has no idea what he's talking about.
England 🏴
come on guys England
Kristen Press has been better than Alex Morgan at every level. More goals in college, club level, and higher per min internationally. Morgan scored her 1st big game ever against England in the last World Cup. 5 of her 7 goals at that World Cup was against Thailand in the opener.
Canada i think
I saw them yesterday. Very average,
Lets go Philippines
I think they will finish bottom. Same as Vietnam.
@@ezraezra2928 I dont care.

Filipina Norwegian, Filipina Australian, Filipina French, Filipina Polish, Filipina American, Filipina Mexican How Kool is that? These players are half half !
They would like to represent their parent's country ---> THE PHILIPPINES!!!
If they win, they are the coolest team in the world.
Like sloppy Joe sandwich and Italian spaghetti
One reason Megan Rapinoe
I doubt any if they played an under 15s schoolboy side . 😂
I'm betting against USA this WC that's for sure
there are far better prepared, consolidated and drilled TEAMS than the USA heading into this FIFAWC.
Which teams are you thinking of?
@@dwkickoff 🇩🇪🇭🇲🇪🇦🇧🇷🏴
The US is one of the favorite to win this WC but Europe is going to dominate in the future because of the reasons mentioned. The league in the US wont be able to keep up with European leagues that is improving drastically in term of funding and exposure.
We will continue to DOMINATE
Even mens US football can compete (outside of Berhalter atrocious coaching) on a good day, and the USWNT dominance is largely a myth, created mostly by players willing to physically grind out the results in a very narrow international games. Also expect more female US players in Europe, it's a shame that COVID kinda intervened in that process (messing up Rose Lavelle and Sam Mewis Man City careers).
@@guycongerno with the current trend. Football is not your main sport, huge disadvantage
