Hi Nick. Would love you to do a tutorial on the SL2 focus modes for tracking. Really struggling with runner, children pets, wildlife and team sports settings and using these effectively. Just cant seem to nail shots in any of these settings, and which is best for instance, birds in flight? Love your tutorials and greetings from the UK.
I dont have follow focus option on my sl2s with m90 elmarit lens and m to l adapter. Is this option only for auto focus L lenses? I cant get into the focus mode option as its greyed out. Can you help? Thanks in advance
This feature only works with SL and TL system lenses. There is no mechanism inside M and R lenses to change focus and the adapter is just so the lens fits on the body.
Thanks for the video. 2 questions. What lens was on the camera when you were showing the focus pull on the reed type flower? And, you mentioned adjusting speed in post, what software do you use ( or recommend ) for this & all your video editing? Watched it again=OOPS! on my part. Says it in the vid.90-280.
Follow focus is cool but I hear focusing on a gimbal is difficult because you need to hold the shutter down or the back button? Is this true is there a workaround?
Focussing on gimbals is always difficult! On the SL2-S, in Video mode, continuous AFc does in fact stay active without a button needing to be held down. As you move the camera around it updates the focus. You can also use the touch-sensitive LCD screen for (light) tap-focussing, or you can use manual focus which is, in my estimation, a better way to go anyway. Follow Focus as described in the video would not be a useful technique if using a gimbal - it's really a tripod-only mode.
You won’t believe it, but this would also be very helpful for photography. We call it focus stacking. But it’s not available. And it would also help if you know that your focus is only between two distances. But we can’t do this. Sad
Although video is not my genre, I do enjoy how you explain the SL2-S video capabilities.
Thanks Nick. Just getting my head around videography recently. This is a great function to have!
Happy to help!

Noted!
Similar situation with the SL2s maybe it’s the wording of the features, just seems a bit odd.
Thanks Sam
Excellent tip Nick!
Glad it was helpful!
I'm hoping some of the features in SL2-S V2 come to the SL2 in due course!?
Yes, that is the plan. Hopefully in the next few months.
@@LeicaCameraAustralia Good to hear! Very nice explanation Nick, as always! Cheers from Barcelona!
Great tutorial. Thanks!!
Fantastic!
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice, thank you
Good post Nick Rains, I am just wondering what happened to the Marc Stickler - Photographer Interview? I got email that it will appear here on UA-cam?
Hi Michael. Unfortunately the recording of the Marc Stickler talk was unable to be uploaded to UA-cam.

1. 24-90mm. 2. Currently using Davinci Resolve. Speed ramping is very easy to do in this app, although the learning curve is a bit steep!
@@LeicaCameraAustralia Thanks.

Does it work with the SL2 as well?
Not yet, but an SL2 FW Update will be forthcoming soon.
What would be the best practice for SL2 owners?
Leica has publicly made it known that the SL2 firmware will be updated to be in line with the SL2-S. When, I can't say. But surely not too long!
Does this also work with LUMIX S Pro and Sigma DG DN lenses for L Mount?
I don't see why not. I don't have those lenses to try unfortunately, so I cannot confirm.

This gent is a concise voice on Leica products. It's confusing; you make it dramatically less so.
