ahh, the self-improvement videos and attitude really show off in this video, you're drawing a male character with very energetic colors that really highlight the funny expressions in the art and with materials that you just got (really just the markers bc the others you've already used)

The Tombow "fudenosuke" brush blue plastic ruler is a guide for writing kanji vertically. It helps space the characters - the left side is for four characters, the right side is for five characters - mostly for writing names.

@@BayleeJae the kanji at the top are the numbers 1-10, 1000, 10,000 and the symbol for yen. Under them are their legal usage equivalents. So it's helping people that are writing money envelopes.

i really like this drawing! i feel like that often happens to me too, that when you're just drawing something in a sketchbook for no particular purpose, it ends up being really fun and low-pressure, and that shows in the end result

Awww I have the "art supply box for xmas" memory too! My mom ordered a whole box of stuff from Opus one year and it had watercolours, and a huge box of prismacolours, and probably some other things and I was just blown away! I can count on one hand how many times I've received an art-related gift, so it really stands out. Nostalgia!
This is now one of my favorite drawings of yours, oh my goodness! The expression, the slight raise of the shoulder, the natural positioning of the hands... I dont know if you intentionally wanted to focus on the flow of the pose for this one, but you definitely achieved it!

I totally relate to your Xmas present story. When i was about the same age, my parents were financially better off than the previous few years so we got spoiled a bit & my mom got me all kinds of arts & craft supplies that she wrapped individually. I ended up having dozens of gifts to open that contained my favorite things. Definitely the best Xmas ever.

Honestly the reason why this piece feels more "fun" or just, idk, better in a way? Is because it's out of your usual comfort zone! It's a male, he has a strong facial expression and the colors aren't the usual ones you go for a lot! This piece felt really refreshing and really nice!
