I have some thoughts/theories on the sharp peaks and valleys of the live shows on Posh vs WhatNot. 1st, all your wishes and criticisms are more than justified and I'm not just saying that for moral support. From a straight up business perspective, I'm seriously floored. WN has been doing live auctions for much longer, but PM has a much more robust database. When you have that, this should honestly be like shooting fish in a barrel. Everything you're looking and asking for is already built into this platform in the background!!! Like I don't get it dude. Do I need to go over to Vancouver and give them a guided tour of their own infrastructure??? Aye carumba!!! 🤦🏻♀️ So many things irk me about this. Chief among them, the gross negligence on PM part to champion their own new, big feature! Like if you're beta testing a whole new way for your buyers & sellers to do business, it's in your best interest to champion both, wait for it, the buyers and the sellers!! 🤣 You know why you're seeing a sharp dive already? Because a platform like PM can't possibly expect the sellers to be the lead marketers of these shows. THAT'S THEIR JOB!!! 🤦🏻♀️ Big change is exciting but also scary and confusing. So the onus is on the platform to ease those nerves by THOROUGHLY educating and encouraging both the sellers and the buyers. And how this is done is nothing revolutionary or even difficult. And forcing the first shows to be in that narrow time slot on PacificTime is both absurd and literally self-centered of them. Especially since none of them were there to provide any support or guidance in real-time. Omg. It's baffling to me the number and depth of fails. These failures are not something you can just chalk up to good old "growing pains" either. I 100% agree with you too. WN has executed much better on so many levels. WN's fails pale in comparison to PM. In fact, WN has demonstrated much more direct support and generated much more community enthusiasm by a landslide. IMO. OK, I'm done. Rant over. 😂
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Gen you nail it every time. I love you ❤️ it baffles me how a company of this size can fumble through and still succeeed 😂 But hey I’m not a multi millionaire, just a small town canadian gal with no college degree in business
I see so many people on Poshmark starting bids at $5 to attract buyers in the US. Those are the shows that usually have the most watchers. I wanted to do live shows before but now it turns me off because it is basically like a garage sale. I don’t want to do the low ASP high volume game. My average ASP right now is $50 and I want to keep it that way!
I totally agree!! At first I wanted to do them but I'll stick to higher prices, also much less worse. I'm not trying to spend all that time to make a few dollars.
Agree. The Posh fee is very steep for items selling for less than $15. My sales have been so slow, I’ve accepted some $8 and $9 offers (with $5.95 shipping discount). Earnings are only $3 or $4. But at least items are moving out of my closet (and there’s an occasional full price sale!) On the fence about continuing. Currently not buying any inventory. Working on my death pile. Waiting to see how 1st quarter 2023 goes. Thanks for sharing all the helpful info!
I have no interest in live auction selling or buying. I don’t have time to wait for the right style, color or size. Oh ll go in while drinking coffee but sometimes it’s just junk to be honest. Let’s keep it classy and let what not be what it is. A bunch of what not. Rant over. 😂. Love ya tabs. Keep the great content coming. 😊
Super informative! I was anxiously awaiting to hear your thoughts on live shows. Thanks for putting in the work and putting out the content, Tabs! You’re such a rockstar. I was invited to be part of the beta group haven’t but I just don’t have the time or interest in doing live shows. But I def popped into a few shows (including yours) just to feel them out and so many of your comments and “wishes” are so spot on! Many are such little tweaks that would be absolute game changers and actually work in Posh’s favour. Not being able to tap on a user’s name in the chat to go to their closet is a big one!
Thanks very much! You have answered nearly all of the questions I've had. I appreciate your honesty. I've been thinking I'm really missing out but now I'm sure this new option is not for me. Thank you once again!!
Wow, thanks for such a thorough and helpful review of the live show experience. I am 99.999% sure I will never do one (not my thing) but I still found this video very interesting. This just reinforces my opinion that Posh never does much (or any!) R&D before they throw up a new bell or whistle. I'm very glad you had some success with it... it all just sounds like a hot mess to me but, again, it's not my thing.
I think it was first show luck and some amazing ppl in the community that help make it a success. I think my second show was very similar to many ppl. A fraction sell that you show. I just don’t see the roi happening, I guess time will tell. You’ll make more money selling normal ❤️
Thanks for the video. I agree with you about selling to resellers just to stock their inventory. I’m noticing resellers are trying to buy my items dirt cheap just to resell them. No freaking way.
I’ve been hopping into various shows to snoop and see what has been selling and the prices and yeah… if you have dead stock or your own used items I think it’s good for getting rid of those items sitting around. I get the feeling though everyone is just looking for the best/low deals and wouldn’t be the best for higher priced items.
I’m new let’s get that out of the way lol. I watched live shows for 3 days straight when I was sick. I just studied them and saw the “ clique” with all the sellers and not buyers. Meaning, all the sellers were buying for their inventory and selling them for a lot more money, not to mention all the banter between them all throughout the whole show. It was like a personal conversation between them all. Hey I’m about to get fired, any thoughts girls, blah blah. It distracted from the item that was actually for auction. I understand, being new, it’s a Poshmark family. The support is important, but it just seemed like a popularity clique. It really seems to me that it’s just more of the resellers buying than just buyers. Your awesome! Appreciate the real deal, and honesty on your thoughts.
I agree🤣 it’s hard to talk about bc I am online friends with some. But you speak the truth. I’ve been to shows of sellers that sell lots and don’t have that type of vibe, and I enjoy those shows most.
Biggest tip we can offer is to make sure your live feed is going to be good. Our internet service is horrible and our first show was choppy and pixelated.
Hi! Backwards sign girl here! (R*s*s_thr*ft) Thank you for joining my show! When I saw your comment I honestly felt like a celebrity was watching my show I was so honoured! Back to the backwards sign explanation 😂 When I was setting up my show I noticed (camera button on live screen) was all backwards!!! So I taught myself to write backwards… turns out it wasn’t backwards and that it was an embarrassing waste of time!!😂 thank you again for attending!! Can’t wait for your next show!
Omg!!! 😂 Thank you for explaining!! I popped in your show the other night and all was the right way😂 I was like hmmmm. I just wanna say you’re such a natural and very pleasant to watch ❤️😘
You have such a good attitude! I was watching the second show and I was dumbfounded on what was happening. If it was me - I would never sell again! Lol I am learning so much from u young lady! Lol. I want to start on EBay soon - but need to do more research. Keep up ur wonderful attitude! Terry
So I’ve noticed that some sellers are auctioning items from other seller’s closets. I don’t have the live show option yet, so what would happen if a seller auctioned my item, and it sold? How does that work? I’m not sure if it ends up being like a normal sale, or if you split profits, etc. If the host makes nothing, I don’t know why they would be motivated to do it, other than just building community and being kind. Thanks for the video!
Yes I have. Nope all proceeds go to them. They set their starting bid and basically ppl can look through the listing and bid. Shipping label goes to them and they send out.
I haven't done any Poshmark shows but watched a few and watched UA-cam videos on the topic like this one. I have done Whatnot and it's night and day. The main issue I've seen as a seller on whatnot are technical difficulties during live shows due to a update or so many people on selling but it's fixed rather quickly. In my opinion Posh is failing in lives in many ways, I so agree with Gen Smiley below on her thoughts. I have had many say they left Poshmark and just do whatnot now and I understand as a reseller why there's a vast difference!! Poshmark was my 1st selling platform when I stared 16 months ago and I was thrilled to be there, now that I have been around for a bit and tried other platforms...for many reasons I am pondering leaving Posh when my other platforms including Whatnot support without Posh which not far down the road for me.
Hi Tabs! I enjoy your videos and find them very helpful. I went in a silent live auction show this morning that wasn't an auction. There was no bidding. The items were being sold at the regular closet price and they would pop up at the bottom like they do during an auction with a buy button. At the time I went in it looked like 2 items had been sold.
Why bother doing a bidding show when you have 10 or less people in a show? I am not doing a luxury bag show starting at $3 nor do I have hundreds of people bidding against one another. I serously don't know how anyone makes any $ that way?. Just putting your closet items and offering a lower price works ONLY IF you get buyers into your show and not sellers. I also get SQUATTERS who just sit there. I do not know what they are doing, they don't interact, they don't buy, they just sit there WHY? I am frustrated trying to even get an audience. I have TRIED I and tagged thousands of people, I send out notices, etc. and I get no more than 5 in my show and LATELY not even more than 2 or 3 it so I am getting to the point where live shows and silent shows are not worth my time. I am selling alright the normal way, but sales were SLOW all Summer long. I am looking at other venues to sell in.
Having a show that starts at 6:30 pacific means 10:30 here in NS… Poshmark really has a few kinks to work out on this. I’m in bed by 9 and asleep before 10 most days haha.
How do you get access to host a live show in Canada? Ive been trying to find the info and i cannot. I wrote to poshmark and the answer was not clear at all. My account says not elligible.
Have you considered live You Tube sale shows. Sew Yeah fabric shop constantly run live shows selling their fabric at a small discount. There's no bidding, etc, just a flat fee. From what I see, they are very successful.
Hi tabs. I love your videos. I’m from the US. My sales are currently dropping like crazy due to live shows. Do you know the requirements to be able to do live shows?
@@simoneleone Agreed. My sales, likes and even just engagement for followers and sharing have dropped off considerably especially since they onboarded the last group of sellers. My understanding from another You Tuber is that in her training there were 1800 NEW sellers. I am now working on cross listing to other platforms.
Love your sweater and your videos!! You are very thorough and patient. Not sure if this is an easy question I should already know but how do we see your Posh stories? or any posh stories? Is this on poshmark somewhere, I feel like I am totally missing something obvious, LOL. Also, do you have a faint bell/like music in your video background? I kept pausing to figure out where the noise was coming from....I personally found it very distracting...but totally love everything you do and put out there :) Thanks for being awesome!
Thank you, going to be listing the sweater soon❤️ when you click on someones closet and their picture at the top will have a ring if they have a story. I don’t think many ppl use them. Also that was different music than usual… good to know😂❤️
Thank you for the thorough recap. I am just the average seller with no social media following. My first show is this coming Sunday evening and I am very nervous. This will be totally out of my comfort zone! If I sell something great, but I’m going to try not to stress too much about it. Since the majority of the items will be from my own personal Closet, I’ll have a bit of a size theme with a focus on clothes for holiday party season. I don’t pan to have very low starting bids as it seems pointless to auction items so low and make next to no money. If items sell, obviously I’ll be very happy, but at the same time, worst case scenario, my personal Closet stays full and I’ll still have more clothes then I can or will ever wear. Hearing that you only sold 4 items your second show has really given me a new perspective and has helped me to not to get too wound up about it as I’ll be lucky if anyone even shows up to mine. I’ll try to do my best and hopefully I’ll learn something from the experience. Thanks so much for sharing your experience! It has helped. 😊
PLUS TAX!! I find many people forget to mention the tax on the 20% / $3.95 (under $20) fee. With the tax being 13% in Ontario, that's a significant amount to keep in mind. Plus, there is tax of the items you're selling, you have to include that in your overall cost to determine your profit margin. So I cannot fathom why people sell stuff for $5 since there's a $4.46 Poshmark fee (including tax in Ontario) on that $5, plus the cost of your products plus packaging plus the gas to drive it to the post office. As well as the income tax on that $0.54 "profit" as mentioned in the video. So these SELLERS are literally PAYING THE CUSTOMER to buy their item! Am I missing something here?
I am on the same page. Currently posh but a collecting the gst tax which they are submitting on sellers behalf. So you are not required to collect and submit anymore. I have a feeling many sellers do t do proper taxes imo
Great Video Tabs! So happy I was able to pop in on your second show this week. Thank you for sharing your honest thoughts and opinions. Sales over here have also tanked-despite listing 10-15 new items this week and relisting a multitude of old ones. I've had activity with lots of likes but no bites. Currently sitting at 3 sales for the week lol. Can I ask a question to clarify? When you said you "feel as though this is fizzling out" were you referring to live shows in particular or the actual platforms of Posh/Whatnot themselves?
@@TabsMcCaffrey I totally agree! I remember reading about how live sales were popular overseas awhile ago and all the reasons why they don't work for North Americans. I think the main issue is that we have short attention spans and have soo many options for online shopping (unlike in China, where live sales have been successful). And then in Canada the market is so different. If we were able to sell high quality items for rock bottom prices I'm sure live sales would take off (especially with resellers) but that's just not the reality here.
After watching this I realize how lost I am ASP? I'm assuming avg saler per item. I'm going to delete my page.and start all over. I have no clue what the heck I'm doing.
This is about the Lulu Lemon leggings you sold for $45 with the supposed Stain. That is a lot of money for a used pair of leggings. You blocked her for complaining about a spot you may have missed. This is my first time watching you. I think you were way out of line. You should have worked with her a bit. You came across really bad as a first impression.
Hi! Just found your channel:) I have a small closet on poshmark / I mostly just shop and have my personal items on sale. I would love to do a live but am not sure how to apply? Is it just for bigger sellers? Thanks ☺️
Thanks for your reply 💕 I am posh ambassador 1 even though my closet is small @thriftylove593 . I’m wondering if that makes a difference? How many listings someone has up? Thanks again ☺️💕
Thanks for this recap! Unfortunately I missed your first show but I did tune in to your second, you still did great IMO! I have my first show next Wednesday at 6:30 MT. I’m not sure if it works for my business model either but I thought I should at least give it a try. One question for you, did you mark the listings you created for your first show as not for sale? I have mostly new inventory that I sourced for my show so just wondering what works best. Thanks again for your content 😊Nicole
I would personally list it as normal. In the description state it’s for a live show coming up soon. Then use the keyword option and tag the best stay tags. As ppl like the items for the 2 days before your show, let them know. My personal opinion, but try what works for you. Keep me posted how it goes !!❤️
The most surprising things I’ve seen on a show has been a seller let the buyers choose the start price and interestingly enough they started like a express dress and mall brands for like $20 which to me is a high start for those brands so after my first show I may do that idk
So my first live is coming up and I literally only sell items like chanel, balenciaga, gucci, valentino etc.. i am not sure how to even start pricing them. I paid at least couple hundred for each. Have you ever seen anyone do high luxury items on a live? I cant start my items at $5. So im freaking out and I guess i have to prepare myself looking like a total loser if I get no sales..
You’re not a loser for setting reasonable prices. Honestly set your starts where you’re comfortable. I’m not sure lives are the place to sell luxury items like that. But worth a shot. Worst case no one bids and you keep your very expansive item. Don’t start a bid at a price you are not ok with, if only one person bids
Great video, though I have no desire to sell that way. You really thoroughly analyze the process and it should be very helpful. You mentioned, off subject, that you have no intention of competing with retail for Black Friday sales; how about second hand Sunday or Cyber Monday?
@@TabsMcCaffrey That's what were worried about. But, we're a small part time reseller, that is ramping up inventory, and we're thinking of trying it out. Thanks for the response
I am still waiting to be able to have access to sell on a live show. I am thinking by the time Poshmark lets me in - I won’t be interested. I am probably not going to continue to sell, I just want to get rid of what I have without giving it away to Goodwill.
Why bother doing a show? It sounds like you didn't like anything about doing a show. I know I personally will never do one and I might even leave the platform if things continue in this direction. Why should I sell cheap? Why am I taking a backseat to live sellers all of a sudden?
I just did my first live and it was only like 14 items I’m so sad it was 55 min and no one bought any thing I was so unorganized just had things on my bed and I didn’t show my face only the products.I know I need to have a nicer setup but I need to seek things. No bids only 2 people watched my live 🥲🥲🥲
Hi Tabs, thanks for all your helpful videos! This is off-topic, but would you consider doing a how-to video about Etsy? I list with no problems to eBay, Mercari, Poshmark, Depop, and Grailed, but Etsy really intimidates me! I use ListPerfectly. Thanks!
I use primelister to crosslist to etsy. I would say try a few listings it’s much easier than eBay. Just read through the options and make the best choice lol. This is exactly what I do for eBay 😂😂
I have resisted the majority of my closet within the last 2 weeks and added 50 brand new good items this week in anticipation of my Black Friday sale. I have gotten a lot of engagement this week. I am planning on running the sale Friday thru Monday, 🫰🏻
Same girl. I sold 4 bundles this weekend. I listed so many Levi’s Aritzia trousers and aritzia. Sweaters . Good news is they bundled older stuff that I wanted gone. My sales will be slightly higher than last month but I was expecting a big sales weekend

Hahah crazy!! Like twins ❤️
Have you considered live You Tube sale shows. Sew Yeah fabric shop constantly run live shows selling their fabric at a small discount. There's no bidding, etc, just a flat fee. From what I see, they are very successful.
That’s interesting. I’ll have to check them out!! Ty😘
I wonder how it is that they get paid
Quick list is good for adding new items not in the closet yet
Yes!
Just an FYI - If you are watching live shows on your laptop, you can click on users names and follow them! Thanks for the info 😀
Good to know!! I’m always on my phone watching 😩
@@TabsMcCaffrey - LOL I think I may be one of the only ones watching/working on my laptop these days!
Wow I can’t get 2 people
I like a lot of your advice, but I'm glad you can run a show and not have to be an ambassador or many wouldn't have a chance...
I agree! I’m not an ambassador in the US either!
Hi tabs. I love your videos. I’m from the US. My sales are currently dropping like crazy due to live shows. Do you know the requirements to be able to do live shows?
Same. It's very depressing. My engagement has dropped like crazy. I'm focusing on eBay now. Sad but live selling isn't for me.
I thought it was posh ambassador. But you can google how to apply. I think it’s on the posh website somewhere ❤️
@@simoneleone Agreed. My sales, likes and even just engagement for followers and sharing have dropped off considerably especially since they onboarded the last group of sellers. My understanding from another You Tuber is that in her training there were 1800 NEW sellers. I am now working on cross listing to other platforms.
Not to be mean at all but do you do your eyebrows 1 lighter and one darker on purpose?
It’s the lighting in my room. I’ve given up trying to figure out the lighting 😂
Also that was different music than usual… good to know😂❤️
Love! Your sweater!!
Love and lemons I think❤️
I like this attitude! And if it doesn’t sell in the auction, at least you can sell it for a better price after
If you are in Canada I would love to know your closet name so I can check in.
Not Tabs Franca! I always watch Tabs.
Hi Maureen, my Closet name is franca_g_ ( I know, not very original, 😂). My show will be at 8:30est Sunday night
I hope it went well for you! Such a lovely comment
When you said you "feel as though this is fizzling out" were you referring to live shows in particular or the actual platforms of Posh/Whatnot themselves?
that’s a bummer. I’ve definitely seen a slow down in the number of sales. I meant live auctions. I’m not sure buyers are into this in North America…
Very informative.❤
Why no one is talking how to apply poshmark LIVE SHOW? ??
I think it's for Posh ambassadors right now. You could try msging them.
After watching this I realize how lost I am
ASP? I'm assuming avg saler per item.
I'm going to delete my page.and start all over. I have no clue what the heck I'm doing.
I like your cardigan. Very nice!
For love and lemons ❤️
This is about the Lulu Lemon leggings you sold for $45 with the supposed Stain. That is a lot of money for a used pair of leggings. You blocked her for complaining about a spot you may have missed. This is my first time watching you. I think you were way out of line. You should have worked with her a bit. You came across really bad as a first impression.
Interesting perspective.
Hi! Just found your channel:) I have a small closet on poshmark / I mostly just shop and have my personal items on sale. I would love to do a live but am not sure how to apply? Is it just for bigger sellers? Thanks ☺️
I think it’s for posh ambassadors right now. But they should be opening up soon to everyone ❤️
Nope, I kept them for sale at full retail price. If someone wants to buy for too dollar, take it!! 😂
I would personally list it as normal. In the description state it’s for a live show coming up soon. Then use the keyword option and tag the best stay tags. As ppl like the items for the 2 days before your show, let them know. My personal opinion, but try what works for you. Keep me posted how it goes !!❤️
Why can’t I see the show go live on my account? Just learning
I’m not sure…
The most surprising things I’ve seen on a show has been a seller let the buyers choose the start price and interestingly enough they started like a express dress and mall brands for like $20 which to me is a high start for those brands so after my first show I may do that idk
hmmmm maybe theres some science behind this😂
The price you start your auction at is always a gamble. Customers dont want to go to an auction where items start at the listed price
Hahaha I agree. I’m just not sure there’s enough buyers to bid items up… some shows yes, but I feel like lots of shoes are resellers
I’m just running my normal
Long wknd sale. This is a totally different year than previous as consumers are buying way leas
how do I add items to my show while I am live
You have to do it from a second device
Do you feel things have improved for live shows now? it's been 2 months now and I'm wondering
I will not be doing live shows. If I do they will be for Duma ns to hang out. I am not seeing the roi I would like to see.
@@TabsMcCaffrey That's what were worried about. But, we're a small part time reseller, that is ramping up inventory, and we're thinking of trying it out. Thanks for the response
I meant for fun and to hang out😂
I saw a Posh Live for about 10 minutes. And she got no bids in those 10 minutes. And I noticed the same as you did. Low-ball bids.
So sad. I think it’s mostly resellers at this point hopping in and out scoping it all out 😂 I know I do!
I am still waiting to be able to have access to sell on a live show. I am thinking by the time Poshmark lets me in - I won’t be interested. I am probably not going to continue to sell, I just want to get rid of what I have without giving it away to Goodwill.
Oh man. I’m sorry. I would try but sell trade stores if you’re ever trying to liquidate
your shipping is almost double of what the U.S. pays!
It is 😭
Why bother doing a show? It sounds like you didn't like anything about doing a show. I know I personally will never do one and I might even leave the platform if things continue in this direction. Why should I sell cheap? Why am I taking a backseat to live sellers all of a sudden?
Haha very good observation. I haven’t done anymore shows. I’m with you❤️
I just did my first live and it was only like 14 items I’m so sad it was 55 min and no one bought any thing I was so unorganized just had things on my bed and I didn’t show my face only the products.I know I need to have a nicer setup but I need to seek things. No bids only 2 people watched my live 🥲🥲🥲
Ya they can be tough to start up
Hi Tabs, thanks for all your helpful videos!
@@TabsMcCaffrey Thanks, I will give it a whirl!
Yes, this live shows are $3-$5-$7-$8 shows even then people won’t buy. Thank you for your wonderful informative shows 👗👠👡👢👙🩱🥿👗🛍🌸🌸🌸
Right?! I do t think it’s a bunch of buyers watching. I think it’s majority resellers
I have resisted the majority of my closet within the last 2 weeks and added 50 brand new good items this week in anticipation of my Black Friday sale. I have gotten a lot of engagement this week. I am planning on running the sale Friday thru Monday, 🫰🏻
Please keep me posted. Sales have been meh for me, considering how many hood pieces I listed this wk.
Same girl. I sold 4 bundles this weekend. I listed so many Levi’s Aritzia trousers and aritzia. Sweaters . Good news is they bundled older stuff that I wanted gone. My sales will be slightly higher than last month but I was expecting a big sales weekend
