I guarantee you the banshee would smoke it, I used to have 2 banshees they are fast they are 350 twin motors the Honda is a 250 single cylinder so it pretty obvious. Love it. I had an ATC250R in the mid 80s. Still think it was better than any of my 4 whlrs and dirt bikes since. You steer with the rear tires, and only use the front (and shifting you weight around) to "set" the machine. When you're practiced up, they are quite easy to handle! Great vid!

    • @pauliecopez2683
      @pauliecopez2683 6 років тому +4

      I agree. I had a modded 86 200x and it handled better than any 4 wheeler I've had since. You just have to learn to break the rear loose when turning.

    • @buckbundy8642
      @buckbundy8642 6 років тому +5

      Yea but you can steer any 4 wheeler with any power the same way.
      If you can ride either with any skill they are both fun. 4 wheelers just don’t make you work as hard for the fun.
      If I want to put in the effort I ride my 86 350X or my 85 250R. If I want to have a few beers and screw off I ride my 04 450R. If I want to get hammered I ride my 2011 Sportsman 800 and let it drive for me. On the streets I run my 86 Yamaha XT600.
      There’s a machine for everything. None are inherently better than another. Just have to pick what fits what you’re doing.

Sad to read all the comments about riding spots being shut down. I'm in CA and believe me those evil forces are working against us here. Between the eastern part of my state & Nevada, where I go mostly, theres so much wide open space & endless roads/trails it would seem nearly impossible to close it all off. Well worth spending a little extra time & gas money to get away from the popular spots and off the beaten path.

      That single front wheel sucks. The amount of traction you get on turns is trash. You can't always power slide around every turn and if there are ruts and you powerslide, you are going to have a bad time. They were super risky on jumps too. You pretty much had to land rear wheels first in a nice straight position or hold on for dear life. Quads give you a much more stable base and much better traction, as well as much better landing stability for jumps that don't go perfectly. They are also much better at dealing with ruts.

    My Banshee had bolt ons only. Toomey T5s, sprockets, boost bottle air filter and carb work. I gave a guy on a stroked 250R quad 2 lengths, the break and he was on the asphalt and I was on the side of the road. Easiest $500 I ever made. We started head to head and I kept fendering him. I kept giving him more rope and finally hung himself and I took all his money. He went to our local cycle shop to get more work done to win. The guy who worked on both our bikes said the only way he could beat my machine was to either buy it from me or build another Banshee like it. I ran it at the local dragstrip a few times and got an 8.72 in the 1/8th with it. I still had more power to left to take more of his money. He never would line up beside me anymore though.

    My dad had a ‘87 Banchee and those were built to scream. One day Eddie Sanders (our neighbor) peeked over the fence and asked my dad if he had ever rode a 250r Honda. They went for a ride and the Banchee went up for sale next day. Found an 86 TRX 250r and Eddie worked the motor over. Faster than a stock Banchee when he got done yet way more comfortable to ride. I bought it to ride with my buddies till we all got out of it. Miss that old quad but my bud I sold it to still has it 👍
