#proart #asus #pcbuild - Наука та технологія
Love Terry’s channel. Glad to see this collab.
This is like the *exact* same build that I'm just getting ready to assemble tomorrow! Good choices!
How much does it cost?
I've got pretty much identical PC, even physically looks the same, only it was MSI. Got me top of the line benchmark results. Got it from B&H, saved a lot on taxes, you can't get better price anywhere.
@@USGrant21st how much?
@@TracyDavis904 prices are constantly changing, moreover they are sensitive to the selected components, a little better video card can swing the price several hundred dollars. Go to the web site and check for yourself the configuration you want.
I just finished building a ProArt system with dual 4080s. Being a Mac user for the last 20+ years and a PC user before that, it was all still familiar, but I can say that I've gotten spoiled with Apple's attention to detail and ease of use. Open the box, plug it in, install some software and go. Beautiful interface and polished snappy software. I can be up and creating in under an hour when buying a Mac. This build however is all about 3D processing so my hand was forced. Initial tests are 14x the render speed compared to my M1 Ultra. I'm still fiddling with the setup to get things where I want them. Trying out Linux and Windows 11. Both have their own unique set of headaches. I started with Linux but just ran into a rather large problem that made me give Windows a run. I thought it would be good to have both going anyway. I'm glad there are folks out there that like to fiddle with custom builds, I'm just confirming to myself that I am not one of them. Maybe my tune will change after I can get some actual creating done on the thing.
What 3D work are you doing? Most 3D renders are centered around GPU. I use both Mac and custom PC for 3D and video. Side note; what motherboard did you get to fit dual 4080s and case?
@elissitdesign I'm editing in FCP and doing VFX for film and television. Maya, Blender, Unreal and Nuke. Been getting 3D things done on the MAC but wanted a faster rendering system for doing final render. For editing, nothing can touch FCP for performance, ease of use and getting into and staying in the flow. In my opinion/experience any way.
I'm using the exact same board Gerald used here and the same video card, just two of them. The only hitch with it is that the main PCIe slot goes from 16 to 8 when you occupy the second slot. Both slots are 5.0 though. Took a chance going this route and it seems to have worked although I have no real idea if a single 4090 running at 16x would perform better. I just know that it was more expensive. I'm using a Silverstone rack mount case and Corsair 1500W PSU. No water cooling, just a huge heatsink and enough fans to probably require airport clearance. I think my bang for $ is pretty good. If I had a better budget I would probably have gone SuperMicro and two 4090s or A6000s. Also wanting to be in Linux all the time on this thing. Windows is the worst! Linux does come with its own issues of course.
@@edit-your-mind Very impressed that you had the guts to attempt a build coming from Mac after so many years. There's no way I would try that hahaha. Little side note, I totally agree with you about FCPX. On any of the new macs with solid specs, nothing can come close. Resolve is starting to get there but the interface and magnetic timeline of FCPX are game changers in my opinion. Forget Premiere. Good luck with the new PC!
@@ChrisA2617 Don't get me started on Adobe LOL!
Resolve is a very technically capable program and it runs in Linux so I've got it on this new machine. Will likely chuck a decklink in the last slot and use this thing for colour timing projects when it's not batch rendering. Now back to the Linux Mint forums to see if I can find a solution to my problem. Everything was fine last week then autoupdate killed me.
Time for an M3 Ultra Mac Studio???
That was a really fun watch! Love both your channels and you guys are hilarious together. Been contemplating some upgrades to my PC and doing them myself since the last guy charged wayy too much. This video gave me a bit more confidence. Thanks Gerald!
Legit two of my favourite youtubers in one place
Awesome looking build. Window builds are so nice!!
love terry! blessings!
Terry! Love this
The collaboration we needed ❤😊
You can leverage the integrated graphics on the 14900K in Resolve and Premiere Pro (Intel Quick Sync) as well that could speed up workflows with h.264/h.265 footage. You have to enable a setting in the BIOS and also in Resolve preferences to tell it to use both the GPU and the iGPU
There is an interview over at Gamers Nexus just gone up with Intel (ex-Nvidia) Fellow Tom Peterson. Tom also heads up a bunch of stuff at Vulcan. Talking about audio & video compression. And he mentions about these features on the Intel CPU.
@@annakissed3226Did he say that amd would start competing in that regard or is amd just for the gamers?
Gerald, are you using DaVinci Resolve Studio or Free Version? Also, make sure you switch on iGPU Quicksync in the BIOS because without that you going to leave a lot of performance on the table. Intel iGPU has better hardware encoders and decoders than RTX4090. I have the same setup and iGPU is off by default on this motherboard.
Let’s go T glad to see the collab
A fun build and a great guest.
That is a DOPE tower. Looks like it should be easy to have really nice cable management. I'm especially a big fan of big fans because they're much quieter. I'd be very curious about a noise test with that PC. I've been on Phanteks Eclipse P600S which, while not the largest fans, it's extremely quiet.
Not enable XMP in bios for the memory?
Well done, guys.
What a serendipity coincidence. I just received almost identical system yesterday. Same case, motherboard cooler but with a 4090 in ;) can I ask if you can test the thunderbolt ports with a fast usbc drive. I don’t seem to be able to get faster than 950mbps read and write from them. Front usbc same drive 2000mbps read and write. Not sure if it would be different with a thunderbolt drive. Appreciate your step by step and any tuning tips would be awesome
Thank you for doing this video. I have all the parts sitting on the shelf ready for my next high-end PC build. The only component I have from the ProArt brand is 'that' motherboard. I will have an NVIDA 4090 Founders Edition, 128gb of G.Skill DDR5 memory (5600), two WD Black M.2, 4T, M.2 Drives. a Thermaltake 1200W PSU with the 12-pin GPU power connector, A couple of 6T Hard Drives, a Corsair 5000D Airflow case (black version of course), and it will be a custom water-cooled build (just the CPU for now, since I don't want to ruing the 4090 FE aesthetics). I will then use Davinchi Resolve 'remote' to offload the renders and UA-cam uploads. It will be the best build I have ever done on my Chanel, since I already have a 10g home office network and NAS server in-place. Oh, I almost forgot, it will have a 'lot' of ProArt themed RGB.
I’d be curious to see a long term review after a few months of working with that system.
I built a proart system with Intel chip recently and it’s been to MicroCenter 4 times to be rebuilt from hardware failures. Every time it works fine one day and then suddenly on boot the next day it hangs at boot and the memory is toast.
I hope you don’t have the same issues I’ve had.
I am also same age as Terry. I built computer for years since I was kid. My last built was with the Intel i7 Sandy Bridge 2600K (OC), Corsair 16GB DDR3 RAM, & GeForce GTX480 1.5G. No matter what I threw, it ate lol. I love Windows 7 but Linux Mint runs the fastest. Ever since, I went to Macbook Pro 2011/Mac Mini M1, (Currenty running Mac Studio M1 Max & MBP M1P ) I haven't gotten back to building in ages since 2010/2011 exactly. This video makes me want to build another monster machine. Some CPU now has up to 96 cores and up to 128 threads! Technology kept improving! Great video!!
TOTAL COST???
Cool!✌️
I'm putting my hair like that right now Terry. Thanks for the idea
BTW, the radiator should be mounted on the top and not the side of the case because you want to use gravity to assist the coolant to circulate back to the pump/water block (the pump is in the waterblock). By placing the radiator vertically, you'll create air bubbles in the radiator which will impede flow and will cause gurgling noise.
Might have made me cross over from Mac to builds this thing is dope.
I just built a similar system as well!
My only changes:
Ryzen instead of Intel; for a better upgrade path on AM5 in a few years.
64gb RAM
Two 2tb SSDs
Fractal Design North - didn't know about the ProArt case!
4070 Super (founders edition)
Arctic Freezer III cooler (cheaper, needed a smaller one for the Fractal Design case)
Overall really happy! Added bonus of the Fractal North is that my AKG K240's match it perfectly with the black/gold accents.
How is the noise while video editing or while surfing on the internet?
I am curious, did you try 128GB in Z790 mobo. What was the ram speed you got?
Build looks great! I wonder how much difference a contact frame for the i9 would've made.
Nice! Is there a handy parts lists anywhere?
Build cost total?
Nice build :) I am editing on a ProArt StudioBook 16. Very nice Laptop. The only downside is the lag of vram from the RTX 4070 mobile.
I’ve built multiple PCs over the years and there is a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment that you get from that.
But I honestly prefer using my Mac for my daily design and editing work. Especially since switching to a 16” M1 Max MBP.
Looking forward to Terry's new PC build
Terry!!!! ❤❤❤
you don't put any thermal paste anymore ? haven't built a PC in ages
Those fans are WILD
Where is the list of parts to build this PC.??
How much memory did you install? For my system, I installed x2 48GB ram sticks for total of 96GB What sizes were your SSD's. I've installed 4 M.2's.
Nice Cold steel Recon 1 in clip point.
If Asus made a ProArt rackmount case I would buy it
Bruhh. I'm drooling at the ability to click around a resolve project like that lmao. I love the ProArt monitors too. You should check those out. The budget ones are pretty solid.
where is the list of all the component ?
Seen the thumbnail & was like is that Tight Shirt Terry? 😂
I just finished building my 14900K two days ago! FYI: I recommend using Windows 11 for an Intel 14th gen build because it will automatically load the drivers for the motherboard, whereas Windows 10 does not which means Windows 10 constantly crashed when installing and updating whereas Windows 11 was smooth as butter.
Should have tried INTEL ARC as it has 4:2:2 HW acceleration support
Completely useless info for me but loved the ride haha. Hope you guys team up more, enjoyed seeing someone build a PC. Been ages since I build a Hackintosh.
how much money was the total built?
I wonder the exterior noise level with all those fans although those 240mm ones, slower, shouldn't be too noisy. Whats the decibel level when playing Cyberpunk full on? We'll never know but... Great video. Everything used looked so nice with a nice perfect fit. Thanks Undone and Terry!
Was all of the audio coming from the MKH50 the whole time? Even when you both were standing up around the pc seemingly quite off-axis to the mic?
Asking because the audio seemed quite good considering how off-axis is seemed
Yeah, it was. The MKH50 is quite good/forgiving for that. One of the reasons I recommend it so highly for this type of setup. Good question!
@@geraldundone thanks for the response! As an audio engineer working at a recording studio/soundstage, I have two of them, and yes, they’re awesome!
Love it RTFM I haven't heard this acronym in 25 years,,,
Haha funny I am building the exact same spec today!
Tho went from 96gb because I do 3D work specifically.
Nice keep the p.c built up ! Nice 👌 keep introducing people to the p.c life sir
I just built an I-9 with a 3080 and ended up upgrading to the 4090. 192 GB of RAM and it still can't edit long gop codec from Canon what is the deal?
I ain't a jewelry guy beyond a watch, but seeing his chains match the gold in the PC like that has me thinking.....
What is cost of this build ????
I think you guys are basically building out my 1 month old PC.
Terry!
Gerald and Terry podcast please!!
We really need a Blackmagic 4kG2 vs pocket 4k review
low key my favorite Gerald content
Nice piece of kit
I'm not a computer guy, but I really enjoy this video
Only thing I'm surprised about is only 32 GB of RAM. Lots of money for the motherboard, but now he can only upgrade to 64 GB max. I've had my Resolve easily cap 32 GB, and get to over 45 GB with Fusion after I upgraded to 128 GB.
4:44 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Gerald kept poker face ...
What happened to the brand intro “he’s crazy” lol. Loved that intro but just noticed that it was gone. Think it’s been gone since the move if I’m not mistaken.
Thats truly a SICK PC! I got a similar one but NZXT Case, Water cooling, ASUS Strix RTX3090 OC, AMD 5950X, 64GB Ram, 8TB M.2's and SSD's, 10 Fans, Etc... etc... Its a monster! And still looks BRAND SPANKING NEW!!! >;)))
Gerald, I think you've interviewed Gamers Nexus. Have you thought about seeing if they will give you a care package of one of their Build Mats.
If I could afford the import tarifs into the EU I would love to buy a bunch of Gamers Nexus kit.
The other person I would have approached is De8aurer whose company is behind Thermal Grizzly & makes a bunch of contact frames, delidders and lapping tools for Intel processors. Especialy usefuk is their Carbon Nanotube based Carbonaught. Again given the context there kit could serioualy improve your Intel processor especially with a liquid cooling solution through them.
I think it was De8aurer who took the latest intel 9 series KS golden sample to a little over 9Ghz on LN.
The only other thing is back in the day
I built my first video editing system on a 1929x 1st Gen threadripper using 128Gb of screened & Binned Samsung DDR4.
But according to Actual Hardware Overclocking the current best source is SK Hynix and he has a spreadsheet of the bins & frequencies to look for
Thanks for the great work
Hugs
Fusion performance?
14900k is the current best fusion cpu. And fusion is heavily cpu bound.
need some Gerald Undone purple gamer gear
cool collab Gerald had jokes all day
Now we need a Linus reaction video of the built 😂😂😂
Congratulations you built a computer without Mr Tech tips
Yeah when you guys first started and were only using 32 I was like that’s not gonna work. Glad you upgraded to 64.
Yeah, ram is so cheap I can't imagine building a pc worth over a thousand dollars and going for only 32. Even 64 isn't that much. I understand with a macbook where you need to spend like $5000 for a decent ram and storage spec but on pc ram is super cheap.
I am thinking of building a pc this month with the same cpu but maybe an ITX form factor.
ITX boards only get 2 ram slots so I'd max it out with 96GB of ram.
What can I say, everything is done for art classes
What games do you play? :D
How much would this build be?
I'd also like to know
Why there is so much noise on your purple background?
It's gonna be a thing now where Gerald says "nipple"
I wish someone could tell me why my I-9 can't edit long GOP cannon footage but can edit 8K Canon raw.......
When you shock the board and nothing happens, it might not be true: latent failure is when you shock the board and nothing seems to happen, but damage is done. It's weakened but not fully failed. Yet. Increases your chances of failure later
I hate radiator hoses orientation. 😢
Optimum studio tour ??
I don't know about you, but as long as it's not Mac Studio I just call it a junk box :)))))
You need to put it up to 128gb ram.
It's always impressive to see how tall Gerald is compared to other UA-camrs 😂😂
Tight Shirt gettin undone???
The stupid thing is even this rig will not scrub Sony A1 8K 4:2:2 10bit files smoothly. Nvidia and Intel really need to sort out 4:2:2 decode support.
Looks like a great machine and I also had no idea ProArt had so many branded components.
Assembly tip: Better to just put the motherboard on the table. The flex from the box underneath when pressing in RAM, etc can cause damage.
If you're putting enough pressure on the board to flex it to the point of damage, you're doing something wrong. The PCB can take a lot more abuse than you think it can.
But who will save the table from the motherboard
@@AZiskthe Fatherboard
Bet you wear static bands too 😂
No thermal paste on the CPU!
I don't even know who the black dude is but I love him.
When the M4 ultra comes out, it will make your PC look like a Ford focus. And your PC gets hot… Apple computers do not.
That is a sexy machine. Well done Terry! (And I guess Gerald helped)
DAAAANG Gerry’s sponsor game is on FLEEK (I’m also 38, ppl still say that right?)
Play it fast and loose! 😂
Feels like I’m watching a father teach his kid how to build a pc
Last gen vs Current gen, so yeah I would hope there is a little bit of improovement...
I JUST built something very close, same MOBO and CPU, I did more RAM, 2 - 48GB for 96GB of DDR from Crucial and I have 3 NVMEs 9 2-2tbs and one 4tb, plus another 2 SSDs and one Spinner for storage. I used my 3080 with 12GB RAM and this thing COOKS!!!! Love it
Im a full Mac convert, but it was cool to see the timeline responsiveness go instant with the GPU change. Crucial difference
I got mac and PC, and RTX4080 is as responsive as Mac Studio M1/M2, but much much cheaper.
It's not a gpu change. In both setups he showed he had the same gpu. He went from an older amd cpu to the top intel cpu. Intel CPU's have really strong single core performacne as well as amazing media engines built in which are even better than the ones on discrete gpus.
@@JoATTechwhich mac do you have? And since you have both which do you use more? And why did you get both?
I'm deciding right now between getting a 14900k with 96gb of ram or getting a very expensive macbook pro, m3 max plus as much ram as I can afford. (But on apple it's so expensive that it will still be too little)
@@definingslawek4731 I got RXT4080 based PC with 32GB of RAM and old Ryzen 7 2700x. I use it for Davinci and Photoshop. There wasn't much performance difference between RTX4090 and 4080 in Davinci so I opted for much cheaper one. My CPU is only the bottleneck when I work with BRAW from my BMPCC6k, when I work with h264 or h265 GPU is doing the hard work.
For the mac I got just M1 Air. And if I chosen 16gb version (which I didin't) I could do basically everything in Davinci I can do on my PC, but a bit slower. I almost bought fully speced M2 Macbook Pro, but since lately I do not edit too much on the go I got M1 Air for such situations and 8gb of RAM is sometimes a bit annoying.
If you need mobile setup I would go with M2 or M3 based Macbook Pro 16. Maxtech says 32GB there is enough almost for everyone. The problem with mac is very expensive SSD and lack of build in 10Gbps NIC (you have to buy $300 thunderbolt dongle if you use NAS).
Do you really need this 96GB of ram? My PC rarely hits more than 24GB of usage, even when editing multiple 4k/6k clips on one timeline. But this might be the case that I'm editing from the NAS which has 64GB of ram of which around half is used of case on NAS side, so maybe my PC does not even cache these files in the ram (hard to say).
