Matt, when you say you use nails are they ring shank? And what spacing are you using on your engineered floor joists with the 1 and an 8th Advantec

I was curious why you wouldn't want to use screws when doing a sub floor, is there a benefit to using nails or is it just to save time?

Gavin Walsh screws are more expensive than nails. also additional labor in fastening with screws.

@@PaddyMcNubbington All true, but scews don't back out and cause squeking down the road. It's all preferance I guess.

How would you use the DAP smart bond on existing flooring? More specifically existing flooring that squeaks. Is there a way to inject the foam in between the joist and the sub flooring to prevent squeaking? Has anyone tried using a vacuum on one side of the joist to pull the foam through the space between the joist and the subfloor?

If I am adding plywood underlay on top of subfloors that’s 3/4 inch planks. Would you recommend using the foam to bond the plywood on subfloor planks

You have great videos Matt. Very informative. I live in east Tennessee and im going to build a small house. The land where the house will be, has a slope to it. So half of my basement will be underground. How would you recommend sealing the concrete block and what products would you use? Thanks a lot. Keep up the great work.

I would HIGHLY recommend you use a sheet applied below grade waterproofing memberane on top of the block prior to backfill. Cosella Dorkin and Carlisle both make great products for that application. Then be sure to do a dimple mat against the waterproofing with a good drainable fill and a french drain at the bottom to daylight. You've only got one shot to do this right. It's 20x the cost if you have a problem later. Best, Matt

Thanks a lot Matt. Would I have to seal the block, before the memberane, or apply the memberane directly to the block? And how would the memberane stop at the brick ledge? Would my tyvek come down and cover my brick ledge? Thanks again!

Kevin Bartley I would suggest getting a basement waterproofing contractor to walk you through the steps. Your foundation engineer will also likely be knowledgable in this area to detail the waterproofing. You might also contact Cosella Dorkin or Tremco or Polyguard directly to see if their tech guys have assemblies using their products that are detailed. Best, Matt

Thanks Matt. Those sound like good suggestions. I will see if i can find a waterproofing contractor. If not, will call Cosella Dorkin or Tremco or Polyguard. I really appriciate you taking the time to respond to me. Have a great weekend!

Im building a 10 by 8 shed for a small gym do you think 3/4 inch plywood would work if i spaced the joist 12 inches apart or should i just get 1-1/8 its gonna hold about 700 pounds

Is 5-6 years really all it takes for squeaks that would squeak to develop?
