In this episode I walk you through a tutorial making death metal demo style artwork in a really gritty 90's style. We photo-bash some sweet stock PNG's from Envato Elements and some cool environment photos that I took in a sick location, then draw extra detailing over it and finally texture it up using a lot of noise and grunge for that authentic old school aesthetic.

Holy shit this is awesome! Probably way better and easier than what they could've done in the early 90's. I kinda do this stuff on my phone but it's much more primitive and tricky to do and I can't get as complex an image with all the layers and effects. Really appreciate the tutorial!
100% mate, we are blessed with easy access to technology that can replicate the old cut, paste and Xerox methods of back in the day. That's sick you make designs on your phone, stoked the tutorial can help with some processes! Best of luck ⚔️
@@SpearheadMedia one of my favorite bands Samhain did the xerox thing back in the day, he'd use photos of each band member and different objects and image and xerox them till they blended together of totally looked like something else. Great artwork, but it definitely doesn't look like an "old school death metal" album cover. Ig it is more suitable for phonk than actually metal
I found very cool this type of technique, transform photos and visuals, environments and turn into an art for a cover, really cool, I really like this type of arts, why don't you prepare a course with an affordable price to teach these types of advanced techniques in photoshop?
how are you selecting the objects so fast? like the skeleton and sword
You can quickly select a whole layer by holding control and left clicking the thumbnail of the later in your layers panel mate. It's a fantastic time saving trick

Thanks so much pal, really glad you dig the vids! 🙌 I do indeed, currently I'm using a Huion Kamvas and an older Wacom Intuos between work and home. The Wacom Intuos could be a great starter drawing tablet if you're looking to get one. They are very robust and can be picked up cheaply second hand online!
@@SpearheadMedia I really appreciate the answer! I've been trying to get around graphic design for some time now- the graphic tablet tho... I always feel like Im not worthy getting one yet and end up doing literally everything with my mouse or a trackpad (which isnt perfect...)

But it is great training, because when you're learning to work with trackpad then when you get the drawing tablet your work will be x10 times faster and precise!
