I was lucky enough to see this band play live in 2018! They played this song and it was UNBELIEVABLE live!!!! The entire venue was moving to this song!
Wintersun is finnish metal band from nations capitol Helsinki. Jari Mäenpää (guitar, leadsinger) is mastermind behind the band and Wintersun started as his soloproject while he was still playing in Ensiferum. Other wizards are Teemu Mäntysaari (guitar, backing vocals), Jukka Koskinen (bass, backing vocals also plays now in Nightwish) and human metronome Kai Hahto (drums, also drummer of Nightwish). Jari is only singing these days and they hired other guitarist Asim Searah. There is still two songs from same rehearsals Time and Land of Snow and Sorrow from Time 1 album. Forest Seasons album is great. Awaken From the Dark Slumber (spring), Forest That Weeps (summer), Eternal Darkness (autumn, the best black metal song for my opinion) and Loneliness (winter) all official lyric videos. First album Wintersun has really great songs like Death and Healing, Starchild, Winter Madness, Sadness and Hate, Starchild, etc. all official lyric videos. I really hope you continue with Wintersun. He lost part of his lung during his military time in Finland, tuberculosis I think it was. Anyhow, looking forward to see you guys in next reaction. There are Finnish Metal and Folk metal bands that you should check; mighty Nightwish, Amorphis, Korpiklaani, Children Of Bodom, Turisas, Apocalyptica, Ensiferum, Before the Dawn, Hallatar, Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum, Oranssi Pazuzu, Swallow the Sun, Wolfheart...

I go for a run every morning usually, without this specific song blasting in my ears (especially the last part) I probably couldn't make it past my driveway.

Check out their first video, Beyond The Dark Sun. Shit is wild. Also look into a band called Norther. You'll probably dig them. Rock on, kids! 🤘❤️
Im sure Jari is a nice guy despite his vocals here. But also, they have more songs with clean, "normal" vocals. My favourite melody with clean vocals is in "Loneliness (Winter)" from the Forest Seasons album, the part that begins with 'Washed away...'. IYKYK
Sons (and daughters) of Winter and Stars! RISE!! The bass player is an introvert who's concentrating on what he does. (That's my theory). He might be totally different on stage too. This is rehearsal. "Oh just a little rehearsal, nothing special." Meanwhile they blow the whole internet away with this performance. lol. When someone asked Jari what type of metal they play, he said 'epic metal'. So there you have it. lol

Never noticed it till you mentioned Maiden, but his cleans do have a Dickensonian (🤷♂️) vibe. And a serious Hallowed Be Thy Name intro moment about halfway through.
I'm surprised you didn't listen yet to some songs of their last album, Time II. This album is awesome, but I suggest you start with «The way of the fire». You will need another therapy!

Love that song! ^.^ But there's still one band who does epic folk metal even better: Moonsorrow. Their best tracks are around 30 mins. But if you want their sound condensed into one awesome 10 minute track, definitly go for Jumalten Kaupunki.
Sure, Moonsorrow is a master of folky black metal, but it's also very much an acquired taste. Very hard to get a grasp with a single listen. My favorites are Pimeä, Jotunheim, Ruttolehto... and many others ;)

This band is so good like Amon Amarth good if not better not growling well sort of but traditional pagan throat singing actually the same as Amon Amarth find traditional pagan folk, not metal even and same singing style even. Kia from Nightwish now for the last 2 tours I think Kia is so good man he is fire drummer one of the best ever.

They are very normal and nice people - they just dress in black and play metal at the highest musical level possible, that's the only difference :D
