How To Make The BEST Flapjacks EVER

  • This is the perfect recipe to make chewy yet slightly crunchy outside flapjacks. I have been to so many cafes and they make terrible flapjacks that are too soft or lack flavour. These are so easy to make and if you follow this recipe very difficult to go wrong.
    Ingredients
    125g butter
    3 tbsps golden syrup
    125g soft brown sugar (can use caster if it’s the only sugar in your cupboard)
    250g porridge oats
    Equipment: Medium/ large saucepan, wooden spoon, metal tablespoon, measuring spoon (tbsp), cooling rack, sharp knife, chopping board and baking tin.
    Method
    1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/ 160°C Fan/ Gas mark 4/ 350°F.
    2. Grease and line a tin.
    3. Put the butter, sugar and syrup into a pan and melt on a low heat.
    4. Turn off the heat and mix in the oats.
    5. Pour into a tray lined with greaseproof paper.
    6. Bake in oven for 20 minutes.
    7. Once cooked it will still be runny, you must leave it too cool on a wire cooling rack for at least 10 minutes or it will break apart.
    8. When cool, turn out, remove the greaseproof paper and cut into squares.
    9. EAT and ENJOY.
    Top tips: Make sure you grease your tin thoroughly and line it with greaseproof paper otherwise your Flapjacks will stick!
    Make sure you do not overcook your flapjacks as when they cool they firm up and if you leave them in for longer than the specified time once cooled you could break your teeth they would be that hard!
    You could add different ingredients such as: sultanas, apricots, cranberries, nuts
    You could drizzle chocolate over the top, the possibilities are endless!

    Yes, Nice One! One of my favoritism almost-healthy TREATS! The T & L Golden Syrup honestly makes these super SPECIAL. I used to make them when I lived in America, but without Tate & Lyle, they just were not the same. I have 1/2 tin sitting in the pantry needing eating-up, so hubby bought porridge oats yesterday and maybe tomorrow we'll make a batch a real taste of Home! As I'm in Australia now! Thanks, I'll share with my nieces as these are great fun to make with kids, used to love making them when I was young.

      @@misselz2272 I'm making another batch, the last lot went in a couple of hours, everyone in the house loved them, I'm vegan so I use vitalite dairy free butter and they still taste the same

      @@misselz2272 that's exactly what happened on a recipe on you tube, it was the same as yours apart from they used 350g of oats and there wasn't enough liquid so they came out like biscuits, they were still nice but I wanted the soft ones with more flavour, I haven't made yours yet, going to make them tomorrow, I will report back with my findings lol!

      Jason Titley good question. I would say you can however I have never made them just with honey. I knew a friend who always used all honey and no sugar and they turned out great, why not give it a go? 👍

      27cmx 17inch rectangle tin however a standard square brownie tin would do the job 👍 hope this helps 😁
