Mactan-Cebu International Airport is the second busiest airport in the Philippines, after Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The airport has emerged as a major gateway to the Philippines, more than doubling international passenger traffic over the past four years. The airport is poised for more rapid international growth following the opening of a new international terminal.
This video features the new terminal of Mactan Cebu Airport. The construction of the new airport terminal began in December 2012. The project also includes renovation of the existing terminals, parking, 149 check-in counters and baggage handling system at the airport.
Wooden construction is increasingly popular lately, and in the wake of innovative timber projects including towers, sports halls, and supertall skyscrapers, comes this recently-completed Philippine airport terminal. Primarily constructed from wood, it features a striking design inspired by rolling ocean waves and a stunning interior that highlights the beauty of the material.

I landed at this airport 10 days ago and I'm surprised at how clean it was compared to naia. I really do hope they expand and renaovate NAIA soon

And in front of the airport is the new north-south commuter railway with japan and asian development bank which will open by next year
I love the infused element in the design. The wooden open ceiling was to evoke filipinos hospitality. While the roof from above can be seen that reminds that of a wave, connecting with filipino maritime tradition.
It’s not because I’m from Cebu but because I hate to see negative people with negative comments. As long as many people are amazed and appreciate this accomplishment then don’t compare to other airports. If you don’t like the design of the airport then it’s yours say it but never compare that’s the essence or originality. And by the way this design is not just created that way, it has stories and details about our country’s culture

Why they have similar design tho?
Man Cebu has so much potential and even can be fixed easier than Manila. The city isn't the absolute worst and is a great gatweay to the other popular islands in the country. If Cebu can add more smart development, it can even top Manila as a tourist and economic hub. It needs t be careful and don't make it Manila 2.0, but fmo I think the leaders actaully plan the city better than Manila. The airport here looks honestly like a very developed airport in a devloped country. LIke I want to be cautiosly optimistic here, but it looks better than the crap Manila airport.
I also hear of Mandani Bay which is near this place which can be a very good place for locals and tourists. Hopefully this is many more devlopments around Cebu.
Let's not sugarcoat it NAIA is crap and will be crap unless the air traffic will be decongested into bigger and a more world class airport (I.e New manila intl. Airport, sangley port intl. Airport, clark intl. Airport) and as of now a new city will arise in the future in bulacan that is more sustainable and can become the new gateway in luzon. A great breather to finally fix manila.
Cebu could beat Manila in every aspect, but economy and development? Manila would always be no. 1

There is a new airport that will be built in Bulacan by SMC. Its modern. Pls dont degrade Manila. We need to rehabilitate the design of NAIA. Mactan new terminal is an aquino project through PPP. Bulacan airport is a san miguel project. The only thing you can thank duterte is he sign the proposal and nothing else.

I enjoyed this airport, definitely one of the top architectural masterpieces in Cebu and definitely one of the better airports I've been to (except for maybe the arrival). Especially having the airport precede a perfect night flight to Hong Kong.

This airport looks modern yet very familiar. Unlike the usual architectures that are mainly glass and steel, MCIA looks and feels very Filipino. If they'll provide enough benches and seats for people to wait in even during peak hours, this will hands down beat NAIA 24/7.

No trains yet but it does have a point to point bus that makes strategic stops within the city center.
@@johannsenquinio307 Train connection is indeed missing, but so does the whole Metro Cebu anyways. There is already a proposal to build a monorail instead, with some cable car and BRT system.
I wished it is a full metro though, with some underground route on CBD. Metro Cebu population is already big and just getting bigger, I'm concerned that monorail may be only for medium capacity rail that will quickly congested in few years, similar to LRT-1 and MRT-3. Cebu deserves full metro like LRT-2, MRT-7, NSCR and MM Subway using bigger and longer train. NSCR and MM Subway also extends outside Metro Manila, this something that Cebu will need for commuters outside Metro Cebu. Buses are not as efficient anymore since you can't just expand more roads as space is already restricted and more middle class buying cars.
I think they already have a hotel downstairs... havent seen it in person just the entrance.

Thank you. My financee living in Cebu City, so I be often there. But normaly I travel with Asiana Airlines, they comes and goes normaly middle in night so I never saw this Airport by daylight. 😉
Nakakalungkot naman ang ugali ng mga ibang Filipino, marami parin ang mga critical, walang ibang lumalabas sa bibig kung hindi puro negativities, puro criticisms. Mas maganda sana na mga blessings at pasasalamat ang lalabas sa bunganga natin para mas marami pang magandang mangyari.

It's designed by the same Architectural firm. Clark's T2 is basically a recycled design of Mactan's.
