    As an employee of the company that you (probably) bought it from. Its great to see a customer going to so much trouble for their customer, rather than telling them they'll have to have a ply flush. Lovely workmanship. Great to see. Thank you.

      what's the difference between a carpenter and a joiner?

    • @Anndra-Girvan
      @Anndra-Girvan Рік тому

      @boo bye Joiner is just a Scottish term, carpenter is English. A bit like Lawyer (American) and solicitor( uk)

      @BNMCarpentry  Рік тому

      A Joiner generally works in a workshop building joinery items such as doors, windows, stairs, shop fronts and cabinets etc.
      A Carpenter you will generally find on site cutting roofs and building studwalls etc.
      You get 1st fix Carpenters and 2nd fix Carpenters.
      I trained as a traditional Joiner but now mainly do 2nd fix Carpentry.

    Can you tell me if you cut the top point off the door for clearance purposes or if it was already like that? I have a door same situation and I still have the point on the door but as it stands I will be unable to close the door unless I back bevel to top of the door, the other option is to do something similar to what you have done here.

    Fantastic work .how did you form your inside margin at the top above the slots to look like the rest righ round if this makes sense. Thanks

    • @BNMCarpentry
      @BNMCarpentry  Рік тому +1

      Yes that makes sense. When I cut the side rails of the door offcut I simply kept the margin with the rails.
      If you have a keen eye you may notice on the video the margins were not on the pieces I cut. This was a mistake and luckily I had the other side I could use. But I didn't record me cutting those sides so what you see in the video is me cutting buts I didn't actually use 😆

    Beautiful door! How did you figure out what angle to trim off the top on the hinge side to get your door to close? I’ve built my own angle door which fits very nicely when I put it straight in but catches when I pivot the door closed. I haven’t been able to hang it yet because of this problem.

    • @BNMCarpentry

    No Safety gkasses, yet again, seen so many of these videos, you wont be working once a shard of timber takes your sight, its not hard to wear some safety specs really.

    • @BNMCarpentry
      @BNMCarpentry  4 місяці тому +1

      I've been in the game 23 years and I've come to the conclusion that they do more harm than good. Dust goes in and around safety glasses and gets in your eyes more than when "unprotected". I also just don't like wearing them and as a self employed carpenter I choose what safety gear to wear and what not too. I always wear ear protection and boots if necessary. I have a full face respirator if I'm doing work where I'm very likely to get shit in my face.
      I try to use a dust extractor as much as possible too. I've got lots of experience and work as safe and clean as I can wearing glasses is not for me and I will take the risk for the rest of my career as its my choice and nobody tells me what to do.
      Thanks Ben 👍
