Haha I can understand. In the beginning, it feels like you're never gonna get to a finished piece. Just keep working and the best thing is to just get up and try an idea. We have hundreds of videos of different versions of our piece as we just kept building off of our work. So get up on your feet- try it- hate it and then develop it from there. And no you will definitely not fail just rehearse, rehearse, rehearse! :D
Ellise Roth we were rehearsing today and it was so stressful, thank you so much for the advice I’ll definitely take that back,, hopefully we can create a good piece🤞‼️
I’m doing mine rn but because of COVID we had to do it all on zoom. I have two more lessons to finish it off and I’m stressing so bad cause it needs to be polished and someone from my group has only been in for one lesson. Both lessons are on the same day as well and after that we have to do costume rehearsal and feedback and all that stuff before actually filming it. You don’t understand how terrified I am
this was amazing and helped us come up with ideas for our own performance! we used the repetition of "consequences" because we thought it was an amazing idea! thank you for helping us! xx
This was nearly 3 years ago, so I don't remember where our ideas came from, but take inspiration from everywhere and don't be afraid to try something. I have my official A-Level performance I can post too if you want more inspiration :D
I love this!!! I take drama and i wish i had a group half as talented and amazing as yours! This piece is the best i've ever seen! How did you do it!!!
This was a few years ago and each student was required to have around 5 minutes of speaking time, so because we were a group of 5 it was quite long. In terms of thinking of ideas and content, it took a lot a researching online and planning our individual scenes and testing new things all the time until we decided what we liked
This is so good!!!! We have a stimulus of 'We live and learn' so we are gonna do mental health. This has given me some great inspiration for what to do. You deserved thise grades, well done! X
Great performance, the whole thing sent shivers down my spine and made me uncomfortable, which I believe the intent of the performance was, you have masterfully achieved your goal.
I didn’t take Drama for GCSE, can someone explain in detail what you would do for coursework? Edit: oh my goodness I jut finished watching it and I loved it Amazing acting 👏🏼👏🏼
This was a few years ago and so the course has changed from what it was then. I believe the only coursework I did then was a review of a live theatre performance but was ultimately unrelated to our performance. Different exam boards have different requirements but I do believe that a written component is more heavily required now. Sometimes the coursework will involve your creative process on creating your devised or scripted piece and how the piece developed over time, or it can be based around plays/texts you have learnt or a piece of coursework reviewing a piece of live theatre you have seen. It really depends on the exam board and can change over time. Hope this helped somewhat. :D
Ellise Roth You and your group must have an amazing thought process to come up with a piece of work like this Thanks for explaining, I think I understand more about this course now than before ^ • ^
Thank you so much. Yes, a lot of hard work (I remember we once got told to leave the school because we were working so late haha) but it paid off in the end :D
my drama teacher is making me watch this for homework and damn its so touchy there amazing at acting but its only been 8 minutes and 49 seconds i dont think i can watch anymore its really good and i could never be able to be that good but my teacher could of least give me a warning lol
My group last year was told by my teacher to be literally swearing so much at the audience. We were literally shouting the f word... so therapeutic lol
Wait, one of the groups in my year this year did one so so similar to this I think they might have taken things from it lol-omg it's like almost the same??
Omg this is amazing I am going to college this year and to do performing art and this has inspired me for if I had to do a piece I’d choose consequences or time as my topic this is amazing great job ☺️
Please help me I am supposed to be doing a brecht piece on a stimulus that is children drawing trees, we have started with the idea of deforestation and the future with gas masks any ideas?
@@mialacey9008 group changed it while I was off and we are now doing a stimulus that just said "The Promise" and it's about suicide. Came back and they decided I would be the one to get abused as I am a male and they want to show a different side of things
@@kaoticxt6202 Hey, Sorry for the late reply. Your ideas sound great, and it can be stressful and annoying when ideas change when you're not there. Make sure to chip in and get your voice heard. Remember that you are a group and that you all need to work together. Your stimulus sounds very interesting as it is so open that you have lots to explore. Wish you all the best for your performance. x
I don't think we had a practitioner for this performance. I believe our spec at the time didn't ask or require a practitioner. It might be different now.
Hi! I can’t say for sure what your teacher would decide but I can strongly say not in front of the whole school. Probably in front of your whole drama class and your teacher.
This was from quite a few years ago before all the changes and so we were supposed to have around 5 minutes per group member, hence the longer piece because we were a large group.
nin met my devised piece last academic year was about half an hour long. It depends on how many people are in your group, as there is supposed to be 5 minutes per member.
I think that as long as we were able to justify it then yes, however, this was an older spec and it wasn't something that was advised in the later years.
This was so long ago that I can't actually remember. This was the old spec though where you had to do the 6-hour practical exam as well. Sorry, I can't remember, but glad you enjoyed it.
I'm happy to provide some insight if you have a question, but please know that when I did this performance the exam board and syllabus might have been different than what you are doing now
I did my gcse drama during this time, looking back to it, this has got to be the worst thing ive ever put effort and time into, acting in the real world is nothing like this, acting is making scenes look like real life, not this
Are you making fun of people with depression? Depression isn't a sin. It's not because someone is 'lazy'. This is really distasteful and you should be ashamed. And what was the lust one? It's SO DISTASTEFUL AND BAD. What were you even trying to say?
Hi, we made these a few years ago and I'm sorry that you've interpreted it that way. We never meant to discredit any mental illness, and we just wanted to convey the meaning of our performance in the time that we were given which meant paraphrasing and addressing how mental illness is overlooked. I completely agree with you that depression isn't a sin, however, we wanted to make stories for the characters that we were creating and this is what we came up with. I am sorry that this has upset you, however, we wanted to create a piece of theatre that looked at a more modern idea of the seven deadly sins, but we are in no way trying to say that any of the mental illness we talk about are sins, and we are not making fun of anyone at all. I hope that this clears a few things up for you, and again I'm sorry that our piece has upset you.
@@elliseroth9131 Thanks for the kind reply, I just hope when people watch it they understand wanting to kill yourself isn't a sin or something caused by 'not wanting to go outside' or 'being lazy'. That's a harmful thing to imply, even accidentally. But genuinely, thanks for the clarification.
Dogburgle you’re too young for this video if you don’t get it , it’s about things inside your head and how it feels to be trapped that way so if anything it’s raising awareness
