It's interesting that the Guru was given normal dialogue in the beta. I wonder if he was originally intended to have a normal voice and the "guru-speak" was added in later

They should've kept this mechanic in, but made it a lot easier.

Interesting concept, but I can see why it was cut. For obvious reasons.
1) pink tablecloth in the safehouse? what? news to me at least.
2) what was the job's name? Find the Guru?
3) Sly's thief meter icon accurately represents how Sly feels playing this minigame right now.
4) did you press the x b u t t o n?
5) Awesome.
6) Seems like the plot was different. Something about a magic mask and necklace. Neat.

sly baseball minigame IS real and has no qualms about causing you physical harm
My thoughts
To be honest, the baseball mechanic seemed a bit time consuming, considering you had to time Sly's swing to get the hooks flying towards their target.
In the final game, the Guru doesn't have his staff and moonstone, as they were stolen earlier on and Sly would have to retrieve them in another mission. Yet the Guru has them here, suggesting the idea hadn't been implemented yet. In this version, he explains to Sly that the dingoes stole his mask and necklace. I can only assume the mask in question was later changed to the Mask of Dark Earth in the final game.
Also, he still 'speaks' normally using Text-to-Speech, whereas in the final game, he speaks in an aboriginal language with no subtitles whatsoever.
Also, Murray doesn't speak during this mission (e.g. "My master's a goner!") in this version of the game, but is mentioned by Bentley.

While I agree with the consensus that cutting this mini-game was the right thing to do; I still can't help wondering how it would have played if it made it to the final game (hopefully, they would have fixed the wonky controls)
I think I have that Jampack demo disc laying around somewhere. Too bad I'm not tech savvy enough to do memory hacking and play this myself. :P

Is it possible you could upload the Moon Crash mission if it exists?
All missions that take place in the main map are playable, but when you move to an other level(eg the caves), the level files are missing.
Moon crash does exist, but not all of it is playable. I'm going to upload the part that is.
Could you also upload clear footage of the original Sly 1 checkpoint system?

Zag, a female ferret, was originally going to be the checkpoint system in the first Sly Cooper game: she was in two of the demos before she was removed for unknown reasons, Zag appeared out of a wooden treasure chest and photographed the raccoon (much better and really adorable too) in the final product, she was replaced by a short metal pedestal with a spherical version of Sly Cooper's logo

iirc in his last Sly stream, Kevin Miller said that Zig and Zag had to be removed because of some hardware limitations.
If the minigame was changed a bit, like making it more interesting and fun, this would've been really neat to have in the final game. Also weird to see the cane being used like a bat lol
How do you get this emulator to run so fast and which do you use
PCSX2. But yeah, Sly 2 and 3 demos don't run very well on it.

Just google Sly 3 PCSX2 settings. You'll find many tutorials.
