There were a lot of things that people felt they didn't need in their lives right up to 2020. Then some things changed. So today we take a look at the CM-7M Military Gas Mask by MIRA Safety....
MIRA Safety makes all kinds of different products in relation to CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) Protective Equipment. This includes their CM-7M Military Gas Mask. A mask designed for military use that will keep all that bad stuff out.
The Gas Mask is compatible with NATO Spec Air Filters, has a drinking tube for prolonged use, is cut low to be used with helmets and over ear hearing protection and can even be used with Night Vision.
While I don't think time spent pondering and prepping for the zombie apocalypse is time well spent, 2020 showed how sometimes things break down rather quickly and it is good to have a plan and be prepared. That is where I think this Gas Mask comes in. Helping get you safely out of, or through a, bad area where chemical agents are being used, such as OC Spray / Gas.

For those who live out west, forest fires are also a pretty valid use for these depending on how close you are to it, how big the fires are, how long you're in the smoke, etc.

Mira safety says they did a collab with the Czech army to make the cm-7m but it looks like they got a whole bunch of surplus of the Om-90 and rebranded. You can go to century arms and buy a used kit for 59.95 or apex gun parts for a new kit for around 100 instead of going to Mira and buying for 275.95

I've got a lot of time in the M17/M17A1 Chemical Protective Mask during my enlistment in the early-mid 1980s.
the US Army took Nuclear, Chemical, Biological(CBRNe for the FNGs) warfare seriously.
hours upon hours of classroom and field evolutions to include road marches and marksmanship training with the M16A1, M203 and M60.
second half of my enlistment was in a chemical warfare company at Ft. Bragg. CS gas for everybody. *wear gloves when handling* ** don't touch your junk with CS powder on your hands**

You really have great content and honest opinions. You are absolutely right, having a gas mask or in the very least a half-face respirator can make a huge difference if you are in a city where there are protests.
Many people do not realize that tear gas can travel for miles and you can walk or drive into a cloud of it. It has happened to me before many years ago in a foreign country. It basically put me out of action for 10 minutes (coughing fits) because I was far away from any building to take cover in. Cars also do not work because usually they are not air tight.
The full face mask is great but even a cheap respirator from a hardware store can really help filter out that junk if you are down wind. In the country I was working in, protests were basically a daily thing, so I carried a painter's respirator after that when commuting and I used more than once.
The Mira mask is a huge upgrade and provides eye/skin protection. Luckily I have never been close enough to a protest to need that extra protection.

I bought one of those not long ago. One thing that’s more likely than actual warfare is a train derailment or truck that’s crashed and are carrying some nasty stuff. There are apps that will show you how to identify exactly what chemical the truck or train is carrying. You’d be surprised some of the nasty stuff that’s on the road.
When I was in the Army we still had the M17A1, which majorly sucked to shoot with and if you had to change the filters in a hurry you could just assume that you’d die. The current crop of masks are miles ahead of what we had. But a funny story, sometimes we would get our training time in them during PT by playing pro mask football, which was a hoot!!!

Great video! I haven't trained in a NBC mask since the 90's. I remember back then guys around me had trouble getting their masks to seal even without beards. I had thought Israel developed beard friendly masks but Google didn't really come up with any results other than Orthodox men were demanding that beard friendly masks need to be developed.
Im a 74D in the army(cbrn specialist) and i can confirm most modern masks dont care if you have a beard. Given we cant have beards but some people with religious exceptions or medical reasons still have no issues sealing
Avon M50 will seal on stubble, scruff, and a beard when worn properly.

@@sunisyde9992 admittedly, it seems like they are proprietary. However, replacement units are readily available from between $25 a unit to around $60 a pair. Guess it comez down to what your life is worth 🤷♂️

Yes but the problem is that the direct to consumer market for “tactical” gas masks is very limited. Ebay is always an option but you’re always rolling the dice on getting what is advertised and condition.

@@rhubarbpie2027 I would prefer not to buy anything from grey market. Also don’t want to make friends with cops or soldiers, especially with an objective of taking advantage of their special access. That’s not a good basis for real friendship.

I'm waiting for my Mira CM-8M full face respirator to come in, replacing my old Avon FM-25.
FYI: Life span of CRBN filters depends on how it's stored, 13-20 years if stored in sealed can and in climate controlled area.

The cm6 has better field of view but you can't shoot very well. The cm7 has worse field of view but you can shoot better. The cm8 has good field of view, you're able to shoot easier, but it's more expensive. Damn.
No beard for airtight seal.
This mask is just an overpriced om 90 mask. Just get one of those and check and see it it has a good seal and buy a good filter. Thats what ive been using for years. Save yourself 200 bucks
