- In this video, I will be explaining how you can use your old keyboard on your newer PC. You will need a din to PS2 adaptor and (If you don't have a PS2 port) a PS2 to USB converter. Hope you enjoy!

Ahh this video was exactly five minutes long
NOTE: if your keyboard doesn't work at all when you plug it, restart your PC and your keyboard should turn on. Hope this helps anyone, really nice video ;)
Thanks mate!
@@the486man9 Also, with PS/2 keyboards and mice, connect them only when the computer is off. This applies mostly to laptops, but is wise advice for desktops, too. The reason is with some cheaply-designed electrical wiring that may cause the bricking (or frying) of the motherboard on connecting a PS/2 device to a working computer.
For some clarity: one can have both a PS/2 mouse and a PS/2 keyboard connected to a computer, _if_ these two respective PS/2 ports exist, but only one for a mouse, and only one for a keyboard. This is one of the reasons the ports are color-coded. If there is only one PS/2 port with both a mouse / keyboard symbol, then it's either/or, but not both, afaik.
helpful as hell, straight to the point

Hey ive plugged mine and and my keyboard turns on, but nothing happens when i type. Any advice?
It may be your keyboard, if you have another computer try testing it on that (purple connector) . If it still does not work try cleaning the keyboard contacts like I did. Cheers, Seb
maybe 2yrs late is too late but in some cases on windows 10 you have to enable your PS/2 port manually by changing some registry keys in regedit. it is full of guides out there
