Haha. Leave it to tough women to crash a race car at almost 300 km/h and her biggest care is a bruised knee in her banquet dress. Props to her and to the engineers and designers who keep these racers safe.
you know that a crash of this magnitude that the driver is highly likely to be seriously injured or worse.still don't know(even now)how she escaped with only minor injuries and not broken bones...katherine is very brave with an almost defiant attitude she was definately shaken up by this though.... no question....even if she did'nt show it in front of the camera's.....on the inside...... she was suffering.........
Was there any data on how hard the impact was? I remember seeing the race on tape (was working that day) and could not believe my eyes when she walked out of the medical center-this a little over two hours after the crash.
well she is racing in the German DTM now alongside the likes of Ralf Schumacher and Bernd Schneider which is a pretty high profile touring car series in Europe
It's interesting Katherine is mentioning bruises on her knees. When Frentzen had his historic crash in Canada in 99 they modified the tub so the driver's knees were protected
I saw Katherine race in San Jose ca. she was in the smaller cars before the Champ Car race and she past on a corner that lots of race cars was losing it I didn't know who she was then because of her win she got to race Champ Cars!!.. Got to meet her had pics taken with her friendly and one I liked right away next year she was racing in Champ Car met her again they race in other countries which Indy cars don't then Indy Racing took over Champ Car that was the end for her sad day for her fans!.
@PhilipTheBigOne That's true... If I remember right, my previous comment was posted before Simona came to the IndyCar Series, when DP was on her way to 5th in points (2009). Having a teammate would help...and so would being able to stay away from EJ Viso on the track. She had a GREAT run at St Pete, and I think she will win a race pretty soon if she can avoid trouble, and beat Will Power. Ana finally seems to have some backing, she just needs some luck. Injuring her wrist didn't help things.
there was a long white board(which turned out to be the flap on her rear wing)that was flying through the air 4 or 5 seconds before the immense impact of such a gigantic crash which for any driver on any other occasion could have easily resulted in serious injury....
I watched it live from Russia. I felt like OMG she died. The only thing i could say was "Another tragedy in motorsport. Safety improvements must be better" (in Russian) then when i saw her OK i said "THANKS GOD!" GOD IS OUR SAVIOR!
My impression was a little bit different. I watched it live too (from germany) and also thought she would not get out alive or at least with severe life threatening injuries (especially because it immidiately reminded me of Jeff Krosnoffs fatal crash 10 years before) But this crash changed my opinion about Champ Cars being cheap death traps compared to F1 cars. I miss the Champ Cars so much. I was a big F1 fan back in these days but first time watching Champ Cars on Eurosport made me a big fan of this series too.
First of all, Danica DOES have talent. She may not be the top driver out there or anything, but so far this year she has out-pointed all but four (Penske and Ganassi) drivers in the IRL. I think her attitude has improved this year and the results are showing on the track. (My opinion of course) That said, Katherine DOES have a few Atlantic wins, including her very first start. She needs a chance in an Indy car... Sarah has talent, but needs more backing... Milka is just...scary...
yes, DTM are almost F1 tech with tourism masks, its probably the most tech and fast tourism zserires all over, and she is doing a great job....wondering what about her in Indycar...??? i am sue she coul win there
The difference between LOLA and crapwagon Dallaras. Dario had a far less violent crash and his career ended. Katherine has the much more violent and higher speed crash and walks away. Even the DW12s are such a joke the only thing left is the cockpit. They've replaced everything else because it was crap. You go for cost saving, that is what you get. Crap. Look at the F1 team HRT. Enough said.
I remember this, Big relief she was okay 🇬🇧❤️
She's a race car driver. That's all that need be said.
More cajones than any of you will ever have.
You know everyone capabilities or your head shove up your azz
Haha. Leave it to tough women to crash a race car at almost 300 km/h and her biggest care is a bruised knee in her banquet dress. Props to her and to the engineers and designers who keep these racers safe.
And those nice airbags kept her safe and cushioned too.
I was at Long Beach when she won in her Indy Lights debut. Great driver!! God bless her!!
Whose here after Newgarden experienced almost an exact copy of this crash this past weekend

I liked how she said "on the surface." She knew the brain. Always scary.
Good old Katherine, always good for a sound bite, especially after a big crash...
Was there any data on how hard the impact was?

Thankfully the car spun round before the impact. If it had gone in front first she would not have walked away.
Love this driver!
Kat's 100% legit badass
well she is racing in the German DTM now alongside the likes of Ralf Schumacher and Bernd Schneider which is a pretty high profile touring car series in Europe
She was in this year's INDIANAPOLIS 500 and finished 29th due to a blown engine!
@@Michael-gu5klAnd she raced the doubleheader in Iowa Speedway a few weeks after Indianapolis.
It's interesting Katherine is mentioning bruises on her knees. When Frentzen had his historic crash in Canada in 99 they modified the tub so the driver's knees were protected
That was probably a part failure. I've seen the same thing happen to Kimi Raikkonnen at Silverstone one year when he drove for McLaren.
Wow! I cant believe that she wasn't hurt!
It's like the Mario Andretti crash where he had just a scratch on his chin while the rest of his car was obliterated
She's not wrong about having a screw loose, is she! Scary stuff!
I was there the other day, glad I wasn't standing in that corner.. Thats alot of debris.
Get well soon, Katherine!!!
This accident was about 14 years ago…
@@2themoon863 She had another accident and was injured.
I saw Katherine race in San Jose ca. she was in the smaller cars before the

Most that sqw the crash tought they witnessed another gregg moore
So eerily similar
Nice to see her fine!
Well it's not her fault the wing fell off.
The wing didn't fall off. She lost the wickerbill off the rear wing. There is a difference.
scary ! kinda reminded me of sennas crash, its a good job she went backwards into the wall !
She is hard core 👍🏼
Did she teleport on impact?
Can't figure out where she was at among all that debris!
She was in the little tub that was rolling after you see the engine/back end of the car snap off
@PhilipTheBigOne

I was sitting in the next turn (12) when this happened..so I didn't get to see it, but I heard everyone yelling over the intercom
Was just talking about this crash with my dad. He was Flagging 11b during this.
there was a long white board(which turned out to be the flap on her rear wing)that was flying through the air 4 or 5 seconds before the immense impact of such a gigantic crash which for any driver on any other occasion could have easily resulted in serious injury....
She's a beautiful woman :D
the kind is a deadly corner, glad she is ok
Glad she is ok
And she came back to Road America yesterday & finished a respectable 14th in the NASCAR Xfinity race.
Shaken but not stirred.Monocoque split but kept her intact and safe.
@redplague Yes, she is an English racing driver.
Is she British, she sounds like she has a bit of a British accent?
She had a part failure "torman," wasn't her fault, and the car isn't worth 3MM but of course you already knew that.
actually the team she was with was alright then. She ended up driving for an even worse team like a year later with a no-name sponsor.
wow very lucky girl
People still believe race car drivers aren’t athletes.
I watched it live from Russia. I felt like OMG she died. The only thing i could say was "Another tragedy in motorsport. Safety improvements must be better" (in Russian) then when i saw her OK i said "THANKS GOD!" GOD IS OUR SAVIOR!

That's a scary crash ever seen but she is alright
Gerhard Schröder at 0:32
I am not a fan of hers but that crash was scarey.
Sheer guts. Well done girl.

i rember this it was so freaky
@international153 Thank the safety precautions in motorsport. Thank the improvements that have been made to motorsport, not god.
I’d get back in and finish... savage as fuck.
Agreed!
What a warrior
I'm not shamed and I'm not learned a lesson yet.
She's bad to the bone
Bella

.....
K
And yes, Milka Duno is amazing
there wasnt anything left that could have cought fire
Seriously this woman loves flying. She should train to be a pilot not a driver. Lmao. I'm glad she's fine coming out of all of them though.
I thought she was dead
Yes, she's British, more specifically English.
women never get hurt in racing crashes.
Shirley Muldowney has injured herself plenty of times...she is tough as hell!
She's a racer with more testicular fortitude than most guys....
Obviously not.
tough as nails

ua-cam.com/video/8h2iqmliVMk/v-deo.html she lost a part of the rear wing as you can see here
lol your (sic) joking right you ever hear of A1
Those pukey announcers make me sick.
I got there first.
Woman driver
her car broke and she lost downforce in the fastest part of the track
dumb girls crashing $1 million dollar cars = hawt
