Mirrorless. I use the Fujifilm X Series XT30 and XT3. I love them! They are lightweight and easy to use. Also, I have smaller hands so these feel really good to me. lol I personally just love the colors I can get out of them and the feeling I can get out of them. I also bring the instax wide printer for first looks for my brides and grooms. They love it!
Hey.. Loving your channel at the moment over here in the UK! I use a Mamiya 645, Leica M3 and Intrepid 4x5 camera. Primarily the medium and large format for client work. Portra 400 or HP5 400 for the film :) So to answer I guess the mamiya is the slr and the other two are mirrorless!!
@@Joymichelle I do use it for videography as well. It has exceptional performance on both 4k and 1080! I loved it even more once I figured out the optimal settings. If the subject is moving, I really enjoy the face tracking focus as well. It's the perfect Hybrid camera!
Love your content Joy! I shoot mirrorless, I use a Canon R5 and R6 mostly, but on more adventurous engagement shoots I use a Fujifilm XT3 and an XT4. I also have an X100V that I bring to weddings and just do some quick snaps throughout the day with and print them out with an Instax wide printer and give them to my couples at the end of the wedding.
Ohhhhh my gosh I LOVE that you print photos right at weddings! I bet your clients love that too! Thanks for sharing your camera set up! Ok, question…what’s your go to Lens for pairing with your R5 and R 6??
@@Joymichelle On my R5 I keep the 28-70 F2 on probably like 90% of the day, and on the R6 I mainly use EF telephoto lenses like an 85, 100mm or a 70-200 if I need one for the day. Clients LOVE when you can give them something tangible on their day. The instax printer is definitely a hit.
Great tips! I shoot with a DSLR, Nikon D750. I would love the Nikon Z6 mirrorless. I am a hobbyist photographer so I am not sure I can justify the cost of switching to mirrorless right now. If you switch to mirrorless, I would love to hear your review.
Thanks so much! I have heard amazing things about that camera. Don’t even worry I have been a pretty slow adopter into the world of mirrorless. But I am excited to give one a try and maybe even make a comparison video for people on the fence!
Hi! I currently shoot with a sony a7iii I have a sigma 28-70mm, sony 50mm at the moment. Working on building a business and getting clients any suggestions. I love portraits would like to try engagements at some point.

@@Joymichelle so I use the z 85 1.8 and it’s become my new favorite Lens! I also use my FX Lenses with the adapter and they work even better on the Z6ii than they did on my DSLR! I use the 35mm 1.4, 70-200, and 50mm 1.4 and they all perform beautifully with the adapter!
Thanks for your great tips Michelle, these are super helpful! Do you think reels are just as good as posting full videos on social media? I have just upgraded my DSLR's from a canon T4i to a Canon 5D Mark II. I have a lower budget as I am just starting out but I've heard great things about the 5D Mark. As they say its the photographer that makes the photo not the gear!
Yes I think reels is actually one of the BEST current ways to use video on insta at the moment. I had a reel to viral last year and got 2 million views - like what?!? I did a video unpacking that and how it affected my business at the end of last year as well
I photograph with a DSLR Canon 6D and not planning to change. It's a good camera so I see no reason to change it because everyone else is going mirrorless. Unless we come to a point for some reason I really have to, I'll think about it. I go for what I like and what gives good results for the client. As long as they are happy, I'm good with what I've got 😃
I'm on a canon 850d and my details camera is a Canon 3000d. That's all I can afford while I am growing my business. I have definitely got the wedding photographer bug. I love them
Dslr but it’s time to move to mirrorless. The question is, do I stay with same brand because getting rid of my lenses and camera is a waste of money or get a same brand camera and build up the other brand slowly and focus on fewer lenses if that makes sense
