This is so common you’re definitely not alone. Thanks for sharing 🤍 I definitely think I will be making a video on growing confidence as a photographer very soon
I had a business for 10 years in photo and video. What caused me to quit after much hard work is millennial photographers buying a camera off the shelf, shooting in full auto, and turning in crappy work for really cheap. They got the gigs, the clients got upset and it ruined it for the pros. I've been shooting for 35 years.
Great video!💕. Getting traction on rapidly posting on FB regularly, on IG for reels, lives and stories is growing my business name. I worked out I was not doing this regularly enough (I was spending in business but not hardly growing business) and I have now scheduled time in now for it. This is getting the correct clients following and contacting me through DM. Still fresh on IG and with Melbourne lockdowns for years has not helped due to Covid pandemic but during the pandemic made me realise this. Time outside looking at yourself as a customer...what do they see approach? Mindset shift is very important and not to compare to others.
As in any industry, ASK FOR THE JOB! Everything starts from there, and in the photography business is no different. For me, I don't plan on providing a service unless I get immediately paid for the service rendered - I AIN'T IN THE BUSINESS PLAYING THE WAITING GAME!
@@Joymichelle You really hit the nail on the head for me. Bad at business to start with, and not charging my worth was a big issue at the start. I also thought I could fill my diary by being cheaper than everyone else, but it just doesn’t work like that, it doesn’t look good to be too cheap. As well as mindset, exactly what you said, things like imposter syndrome and always comparing yourself to others work on social media stopped me getting out there! Love that Henry Ford quote too!!
Gahhhh so many good thoughts shared here! Thanks for this! I know others will benefit too. So much of running a successful photography business is contrary to our natural creative instincts (like pricing!).
@@Joymichelle You made a great video!! It’s true what you said about Brand too. That was probably what boosted me the most, when I started being myself and started typing in my own voice. It attracted ideal clients and turned away the people that weren’t a good fit!
Each client need a different strategy.if u find the right strategy,u hit the bull.Understanding that some clients don't deserve your skills, expertise and your experience also will improve your business.
Thank you. I agree mind shift is everything. I strugle with that so much and i m scared that this will kill my business. After covid and numerosus lockdowns i started to think that i will not get clientes and that i will fail and it is kind of what happend. When i will make that mind shift i will be very succesfull. I m working on that. Your video confirmed me that this is what i have to do next.
It’s a game changer, truly! Ask how can I get those clients? Instead of thinking those thoughts. It’s 1000% possible even today to make great money as a pro photog
Lack of confidence as wedding photographer is mine.

The newbies coming in and playing photographer is definitely a hard thing to tackle!
Thank you very much Joy. Great tips.

This is true with the Fine Art photography sector too.... especially the mindset.

Yes!! 👏👏 not comparing is KEY! We are all growing businesses for different clients at a different pace

Isn’t that so true!!
Great video and so true 🔥 I’m on track for 6 figures in a year and it’s taken me nearly a decade to get here.
That’s INCREDIBLE!! Well done 🙌🏼 are there other mistakes you would add to this list?
