- Little Jeannie" is a song by Elton John and Gary Osborne, recorded by Elton John and released as a single in 1980, and also on that year's album 21 at 33. It reached number 3 on the Billboard charts in the United States, becoming Elton John's biggest US hit since 1976's "Don't Go Breaking My Heart", and his highest-charting solo hit since 1975's "Island Girl". The song can be described as an uptempo ballad.
If I never heard another song for the rest of my life I can honestly say this song does it for me. In my top 5 favorite of all Elton songs.
My all time favourite Elton John song ... a true Classic ! It reminds me of a great time in music , the early 80s .
one of his most underrated songs!
This song was on the radio constantly in the summer of 1980!! Every time I hear it now I think, Summer of '80!!!
This song beat out Billy Joel's Its Still RnR to me" for #1 in 1980
One of my favorite Elton John song
To be honest I think this is the last time we ever saw Elton John
Love Elton!
i totally agree, this is one of my faves from elton. a truly talented fellow who sings up a storm.
Good song and great outfit and hat Elton John worn😊
"Little Jeanie" is one of my many, many favourite Elton John songs. :-)))
A genius at work not just British wise but world wide his deserves more No 1's but his music is just hard to beat.
Brings me back to Des Moines, Iowa. I was spending the summer in the homes of Vietnamese and Laotian refugee families. I had a little clock radio. Little Jeannie came on the radio so much--i was so excited every time i heard it. It was a summer of Vietnam and Laos in Iowa, LIttle Jeannie and Michael Jackson's She's Out of My Life!
YOU STEPPED INTO MY LIFE IS THE BEST PART
Yet despite that, it is rarely included in any of his compilations. I also agree that it was played on the radio heaps back in 1980.
The bottom end on this song is incredible...
Década de 80 a melhor época de todos os tempos, tempos em que a música era muito valorizado.Se ouvia música de grande qualidade.Bons tempos que nos restou somente a saudade.
Of course for me it was the best music of Elton John. Love
Thank you for your beautiful song Elton Jhon.
In the summer of 1980 i remember me and my friend went the fair and we meet two girls and one was named Gina and i dedacated this song to her then i remember when she moved away i would always hear this song on the radio and i would think of her and i being together she was as beautiful as this song.
Reminded me of a trip to St. Louis and Texas in late spring 1980 :)
Elton John redefined the term "performer".
In fact the only one who defined it.
I remember being a 13 year old and have a huge crush on a girl named Jenny. I always used to sing 'oh little jenny...' all the time. Great memories.
Linda demais amooo💟
A truly amazing song
This hit from Elton John was the 377th #1 song on Billboard's Adult Contemporary charts.

goodTimes!!!
this was posted on my b day, awesome!
This song actually made it to #2.
It wasn’t a hit in UK. I thought it was No. 1 in US?
that a vear nice song
Dedicated to Rebecca "Ruby" Rowe. RIP
very well said
simplesmente demaaaais
flexible, energitic, pretty much anything he wanted her to do.
Although we see Elton playing the Yamaha CS-80 synthesizer (a very big beast weighing over 200 pounds!), that is actually James Newton Howard's instrument.
despite the live video performance it sounds like the record.
Is it me, or is he miming? In that case, this is the first time from among hundreds of performaces I've seen that I've noticed him doing that. It is just that he sings so far from the microphone but still his voice is sooo clear. Moreover, this sounds exactly like the studio version of the song.
Love Elton forever as I do Lady Gaga the Godmother of his and Davids2kids huh
Can anyone explain how the word 'Acrobat' got into the song and what is the meaning?
who can shed some light on what keyboard that is he's playing on? Sounds like a Rhodes but doesn't resemble one........
This is what I found doing a little research: "Jeannie is marihuana , "maryjane" that after being his acrobat, that is showing him some tricks, has made him aware of the true meaning of love and life. Most probably after a sourful depression maybe or disappointment with someone meaningful. Could have been a prostitute though!, but coincidence of the name makes it not likely but there is where the poet shines!"
you seriously had to research that? I'd like the address of the rock you've been living under.
Sorry! But at that precise time in life I was starting my college education and I just had time to relax on music I heard!
@krazykritik
You have to come back to take me with you.
haha-- all that fog and it's a lip synch'r. He could have been playing Bennie and the Jets and the crowd wouldn't know it.
Elton John ....Pisco is Peruvian..!!!
