  • Little Jeannie" is a song by Elton John and Gary Osborne, recorded by Elton John and released as a single in 1980, and also on that year's album 21 at 33. It reached number 3 on the Billboard charts in the United States, becoming Elton John's biggest US hit since 1976's "Don't Go Breaking My Heart", and his highest-charting solo hit since 1975's "Island Girl". The song can be described as an uptempo ballad.
    If I never heard another song for the rest of my life I can honestly say this song does it for me. In my top 5 favorite of all Elton songs.

    Brings me back to Des Moines, Iowa. I was spending the summer in the homes of Vietnamese and Laotian refugee families. I had a little clock radio. Little Jeannie came on the radio so much--i was so excited every time i heard it. It was a summer of Vietnam and Laos in Iowa, LIttle Jeannie and Michael Jackson's She's Out of My Life!

    Yet despite that, it is rarely included in any of his compilations. I also agree that it was played on the radio heaps back in 1980.

    Elton John redefined the term "performer".
    In fact the only one who defined it.

    I remember being a 13 year old and have a huge crush on a girl named Jenny. I always used to sing 'oh little jenny...' all the time. Great memories.

    Although we see Elton playing the Yamaha CS-80 synthesizer (a very big beast weighing over 200 pounds!), that is actually James Newton Howard's instrument.

    Is it me, or is he miming? In that case, this is the first time from among hundreds of performaces I've seen that I've noticed him doing that. It is just that he sings so far from the microphone but still his voice is sooo clear. Moreover, this sounds exactly like the studio version of the song.

    who can shed some light on what keyboard that is he's playing on? Sounds like a Rhodes but doesn't resemble one........

  • @823ema
    @823ema 8 років тому +1

    This is what I found doing a little research: "Jeannie is marihuana , "maryjane" that after being his acrobat, that is showing him some tricks, has made him aware of the true meaning of love and life. Most probably after a sourful depression maybe or disappointment with someone meaningful. Could have been a prostitute though!, but coincidence of the name makes it not likely but there is where the poet shines!"
